Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Ryan’s POV
“Are you sure it wasn’t you who spread the rumors?” I asked Emily while leaning my head on the table.
“Why would I share the blessings? I would like to keep the secret with me and enjoy the paradise of seeing handsome and rich men in that boarding house,” Emily answered.
I asked her the question not because I really do believe that she stabbed me from behind. I was narrowing down the possible people who started this.
“I think it is one of the two girls you brought into the house. Do you want me to confront them and pull their hair out?” Emily offered.
Well, if it is Emily, it is possible.
Seeing her reaction, I realized that ignoring the rumors is the best action.
“Forget it,” I said. “The situation settled down. Everyone will forget this sooner or later.”
“That’s the problem with you. You are too…”
“Kind?”
“No. Too idiot.”
When she dissed me, I felt more comforted.
I shook my head and just laughed.
“Why are you laughing, you crazy psycho,” she said before eating her Che*tos. “Instead of laughing there, can I have another tour of your boarding house after class?”
“What will you do there in my boarding house? I thought you are busy with your thesis?”
“Ryan, you don’t get it. No matter how busy I am, I need time to refill myself. And that is looking and adoring sexy men.”
Emily grabbed my hand and made a wish.
“Oh my dearest friend. Will you give me a chance and give light to my darkest life?”
I pulled back my hand from her and rolled my eyes.
Emily began to complain.
“You are not generous, my lady,” she uttered and pouted.
“Don’t dream. Those five men were into someone,” I shared as I sat straight and stretched my hands.
“F*ck, really? They are taken?”
“Well, not taken but I know that they like someone.”
“That’s crazy! Do you know who they are?”
“’ Are’? You’re wrong.” I leaned closer and whispered, “Those five men fell in love with the same woman.”
“Sh*t,” Emily cursed. “Who is it? Is it Yana? The goddess of the Campus?”
I shook my head. The next thing I did make Emily blink swiftly.
“It’s me. I am the leading lady,” I said. “Those five rich and handsome men like me.”
Abruptly, Emily laughed so hard. I was showered with her saliva, slash, and Che*tos.
“You’re insane! Stop dreaming, Ryan! Wake up! Bohoo!”
Her laughter echoed in the mini park of the Campus. Everyone looked at us. She was this loud when I accompanied her to a KPOP concert.
“Why would they like you?” she asked.
“Because I am pretty,” I answered.
“Hey, Ryan. I am your best friend so I will only tell you the truth. You are cute. Pretty and cute are different things.”
“Sometimes I really wanted to kill you, Emily.”
“You have the privilege, my lady.”
“Anyway!” I shouted and crossed my arms. “I am not joking.”
When I said the last part, Emily started to get serious.
“Damn it. So, you are not joking?”
“Yeah. They like me. I couldn’t even understand why they like someone who was out of their league. What a bunch of idiots.”
“OH MY GOD,” She gasped. “This is f*cking crazy, girl! Is this the reason why you were so quiet all thorough out the day?”
“Haa,” I sighed.
“Godd*mn it! Tell me everything! Quick!”
And so, I started to tell her the detailed confessions of the five men in the boarding house.
Emily kept on smacking my shoulder while squealing. She looks like a teenage girl watching romantic movies.
‘Emily sure enjoys it a lot.’
“This is like those popular romance stories!” she said. “You know when there is this idiot girl who had no idea that there are a bunch of hot and sexy men liking her. I would like to smack a woman like that someday. Guess, I can make my dream come true~ Because you are that idiot. PFft~”
“I am not sure if you are really on my side or what,” I complained.
“Just accept the fact that your best friend will be your best basher,” she said.
‘This woman is crazier.’
“Anyway, I think that was really hard,” she said. “Terban is your childhood sweetheart. Then, you cannot avoid them because you live with those guys under the same roof. So, I thought of a good plan.”
“Plan? What is it?”
She leaned closer and whispered, “Take them on the bed. And the man with the biggest d…”
I slapped her mouth before hearing the continuation of her lewd words.
“Ouch!”
“Utter nonsense and I am really going to kill you, “I threatened.
“All right, all right! I’ll be serious. Ahem.”
She forged a cough. Then she leaned closer and spoke quietly.
“The most important thing is to know what you feel,” she uttered. “It depends on you, Ryan. All right, the five men like you. But this would not end if you don’t know what you feel. So, who do you like?”
I thought of that all night. But…
“I don’t know. I have no idea,” I confessed. “I treat all of them like a friend. Terban is special to me and I thought I could like him. But, I realized that I treasure our friendship more.”
“Then, reject them all.”
“That’s such a waste. They are all handsome,” I said.
Annoyed, Emily strangled my neck.
“YOU JUST WANTED TO BOAST IT! RIGHT?!”
I pushed her away before I die by her hands.
“Why? I am telling the truth. They are all handsome. But I think it is awkward to date one of them. I’ve been with them for months. Think of it like this: Do you think you can date your brother?”
“Yuck!” she shouted. “THAT WAS SO F*CKING DISGUSTING!”
“Disgusting? Well, not as serious as that, but it has the same sentiment.”
“I said it was disgusting because he is my ANNOYING BROTHER. But for you, you aren’t blood-related to any of them. Blood has cursed. So, what about trying to see them as a man?"
"Huh?"
“Do an experiment. Try to see them as a guy and consider the possibility that you might fall in love with any of them. If your heartbeat went faster, you felt nervous, and you missed that man so much, it can be a sign.”
I tried to imagine the experiment that she had mentioned.
When I did, goosebumps appeared on my skin.
