Chapter 73: Chapter 73

Themis Pov

I was tired of falling. I have been falling for what felt like hours now because since Kastav sent us into the portal he created, I have not been able to stop falling. My only consolation is that Orel and my son has been on the same length as me, no one of us ever leaving the same length so we could keep each other in the same eyesight. That should have been the first marker for me but I had ignored it. We stopped shouting when the fall did not stop and even started conversing and that was when something different happened.

“I wish this would just end soon.” Orel grated.

“It should have ended because we are not of the same weight and yet we are still falling at the level of falling.” I voiced

“My wife must be tired of viewing my face since she wants me to fall faster.” Orel replied wryly.

“No, that is not it. I am glad that you and Elison are still on the level as me but it seems too unreal like this is just one big illusion to keep us busy until Kastav has time for us.” I answered and if he had the power to open portals to another dimension then he would have moved the palace from where Gwenn and Arius placed it so he could secure his ultimate reign.

No sooner had I thought that that I slipped into a trance like state.

White pillars of cloud like substance, moved ethereally, waving like they were dancing to the tone of a song which they only could hear. This was different from every other vision which I have ever received.

I felt unsure of my next movement, should I interrupt their dance or wait for them to finish so I could get my answers, then I remembered that we were falling and Orel must have seen me go unconscious and would be very worried.

I braced myself as I took a step forward but the moment I did that, the scene changed. The pillars were all around me, I felt fear and uncertainty.

A beam of light connected from one pillar to another and so it went on until they were all connected and then another beam of light came from each of them and connected at the middle, a few feet above my head. I realized what was going on too late. Before I could run away, a beam of light shot from the connected point at the center to my head and once again, I experience a falling sensation.

Then the images started, I did not understand at first what was happening, until I saw two babies being born. A white haired one and a blacked haired one. I knew the story of my ancestors, how the gift started, I never knew about the black haired one. The vision appeared as if it was moving backwards in time. I watched as my ancestors moved to Dar, the power being diminished but it was strong with each generation that came before it and finally, I watched as the generation where the golden queen, sank a kingdom and how Northshore was formed. It was the shore of a river flowing from the north, the kingdom sank but Northshore remained and became the new home for the people with amazing powers, the ones that remained from the catastrophe that happened to the kingdom. From there I watched as the lineage started progressing, now in the right sequence, father to son until it turned to mothers to daughters and then the split happened, I watched my ancestors they made the decision to move to Sagedge, to stay away from the curse that was affecting the dark haired ones and because they knew of my time.

Then the scenes changed to follow the dark haired one, I watched the curse affect each of the daughter in the generation, the never happy marriage, knowing what love was and losing it and eventual unhappy death. I watched until a dark haired child was born and grew up to be Gwenn.

I was still reeling from realization that I and Gwenn are from one line which originated from Northshore when the scenes changed once more and I watched as the representation of me opened myself to Gwenn and how she could collect my power and use it to defeat the black fog. A fog that was the cause for the destruction of that kingdom. And then the scenes turned to wisps of smokes not forming anything.

The beams retracted back to the pillars as I came to realized that we were the backup option for the defeat of the fog if anything happened to the Golden Queen, it was a pure coincidence that Gwenn ended up being the Golden Queen.

“I understand now, take me back.” I whispered and that was how I jerked back to my body to see Orel straining to reach me while Elison was crying.

“Shhhh.” I cooed to my son as Orel calmed down a bit.

“Themis.” He called but my ears still felt heavy, I was still reeling for the information which was imparted on me. Something had also changed about me because I could see what us falling clearly was. An illusion.

Without answering Orel, I struggled to move into a vertical position and then walked to where Orel was still staying horizontally and I reached out to him, when he placed his hand on mine, staring at me in shock, I helped him to stand vertically but the minute he righted himself, the illusion disappeared.

“How?” Orel started.

“Apparently, me and Gwenn are descendants of people who originated from Northshore. We are related.” I smiled at Orel confused look.

“Everything will be understood in time Orel but right now, we have to get going now.” I collected Elison from his father, his cheeks were red as he reached for me. “Gwenn needs our help right now.” I added before kissing Elison and handing him back to his father.

“And how do you plan to get to her, you seem to have forgotten that we are stuck here…” Orel started but my mind flashes to the symbol which Kastav drew with his hands. I made the same symbol as Orel was talking and a portal simmered into reality.

I smiled at the dumbfounded look Orel wore and kissed his cheek as I held on to him and dragged him out of the place where Kastav left us in.

And apparently I appeared at the exact moment a beam was sent to Gwenn but someone stood in front of her. Taking the hit for her. A hit meant to end in death.
