Chapter 72: Chapter 72

My brother is possessed by a drude. That alone makes him unable to rule but I would not be the person to tell him that, not when the last few people who did, died. I now know why Silana said I was the biggest scum at Kastav side. I pushed him to this. If I had allowed him to be contented with his life when he was just a prince and stop his ambitions then maybe this would have never happened.
And now I was on my way to see my favorite brother who killed three of my other brothers and made me his queen. The only time I was ever this scared was when Father became ill and even then, he was present to calm me down but who is going to calm me of my fear from him.
“You took your time.” Kastav growled the minute I entered the throne room. A room that has become his favorite in the castle even though he hardly do anything in it.
“I got the message less than five minutes ago. The Nisse you sent did not see me on time.” I responded to Kastav who tilted his head in an unnatural angle like he was listening to something which someone was saying but there was no one by his side. We have learnt that he hears voices sometimes. Most times, we hear the voice alongside with him and see the shadow that has no body too.
“She would be punished for this slight.” Kastav ordered but I spoke quickly.
“No brother, it was of no fault of hers, I was not in the Palace and she did not know so she is innocent, the minutes I got to the palace she came to tell me.” I rushed out hoping that she was still alive because one of Kastav new frightening abilities was that he could kill someone without being in their presence. He just need to know their signature energy and then he could use it to track the person down and kill the person.
“And what were you doing outside the Palace?” He asked.
“I was supervising the outing which our siblings went for to ensure that no one planned anything against you. They did not.” Not because of my presence but because they knew they had no fighting chance against their brother who had turned to a monster. They wanted to discuss their chances of survival and I was able to give them some tips. We might have been from different women but that does not meant that I wanted them dead. They were my siblings. People I grew up sharing the same name and titles with.
“They could have tried, I would have love to reduce number of competitors for the throne again.” Kastav responded as I shivered at the detached cruelty coming from him. This was not my brother and at the same time, it was.
“What did you need me for?” I asked Kastav who smiled at me.
“Severa. Do you think she or her offspring will be a threat in future?”
I dreaded wanted to know the answer he gives but I really needed to know. “I am not sure, why do you ask?”
“I want to eliminate any threat before it forms.” He responded absentmindedly as if his attention was divided.
“No.” I answered, my voice firm. “Severa will not be a threat neither will her children. The throne of Dar will not be occupied by the child of a person who legitimacy is unsure of.”
Kastav turned his attention to me. “I am glad I made the right decision in you being my queen.”
Alarm blared in my head as I processed his words and what he was going on about. “Kastav, I am your queen for now until you get a wife right? Then she will be the queen?”
“Why do I need a wife when I have you, you are perfect. You protect me, you have feelings for me, your blood is just as pure as mine is and you are capable of being the mother of my children. We will discuss the details later but something is hammering at the protection I created for this palace and I need to check it out.” Kastav replied my queens then turned into his dark fog which he rarely uses for travel and left the room.
As soon as he disappeared out the door, my legs collapsed unable to hold my weight. His queen? Mother of his child? That was taboo of the highest form and I was grossed out by it but he seems to have already made up his mind. I did not have a choice and that frightens me more than anything because I was not ready to be the mother of any child yet not to talk about my possessed brother’s child.
What was I going to do?

I was back and ready to reign down hell on Kastav and Mazikeen and any other person who might have put the sadness that lingered in the air of the Palace.
That would be as soon as I was about to break the boundary which Mazikeen had put around the Palace, encaging it and separating it from the rest of Northshore. That was not right.
“You are here.” Mazikeen started and with a gasp I let the orb which I was going to throw at the boundary go towards the direction of the disturbance. My aim was unprecedented and wild but it hit true when it landed on the shoulder of Kastav who chose to be the host of Mazikeen.
I smiled at the sight of him being pushed back.
“I was not aiming for you but I have to admit, I love the result. Now if you would just be less of a mistake then the day you were conceived and just stand still while I kill you for all the harm which you had caused.” I said as I volleyed another orb towards him, this time, one of a higher concentration of power.
He jumped out of the way of my aim before he turned to look at me with his eyes all dark.
“You will regret why you did that.” Kastav said but I shook my head.
“I have already passed the moment where I regret anything but if I was regretting something it was not killing you while I had the chance.” I stated as I launched a false orb at him and while he jumped away from that, I sent him another one that had him sailing through the air.
He collapsed on the ground and then the idiot started to laugh and while he did, the shadow stood first.
“I see that you have gotten your powers and memories back, Golden queen, this time, you would have to endure death from the hands of your husband’s brother not your husband.”
“I am not doing anything which I do not want to do. And that includes dying.” I responded.
“Same here.” Kastav said as he was the one who fired orbs at me now and since I could not concentrate enough to let my orbs fly, I was pushed out of being offensive and became defensive because that was the only position which I could take unless I wanted one of his orb to touch me and I was not aware of what it result actually was.
Still I was not fast enough and one grazed me.
“Your majesty.” Kayd cried out. I turned to the side to see people, Nisses, Mareikura, everybody are in the castle were gathered just beyond the boundary. “Be careful.”
“Yes, Kastav chuckled. “Be careful, you would not want to die the same way your lover did. Would you?”
I was chilled to the bone when I realized that he meant Sorens.
That he killed Sorens.
The shock froze me just enough for him to send a black orb my way, my mind blanked, I did not know what to do or how to move out of the way. That was when a figure came out of nowhere and pushed me out of the way. Taking the hit for me.
