Chapter 74: Chapter 74
Themis Pov
I had appeared at the right time. Gwenn was in shock, staring at a body on the ground. Without looking at the body, I knew that it was Silana, one of the blind spots in my gift. A blind spot that might have saved the world.
“Would you look at that, the same way I killed Sorens, I also killed that brat. The next on the list is you.” Kastav crackled as he moved towards Gwenn in a leisured pace.
I could not allow that to happen, there was not much I could do except throw a dagger, which I collected from Orel, his way. I needed to get Gwenn to snap out of her mind and tell her what I learnt. She needed to tap into my gift so she could win.
When the dagger met its mark, I ran towards Gwenn even as he grunted.
“You.” He growled as he sent something my way but it never had the chance to reach me because Gwenn started screaming. A power filled scream that sent golden light flooding into the sky while I darted out of the way of the orb and ran to her.
“Gwenn, you need to focus on me. Gwenn.” I called, unsure if I should reach out to her and shake her.
“He killed Silana.” Gwenn whispered.
“He would kill me, Elison and Orel if you do not pull yourself together.” I finally grab a hold of her shoulder and shook her hard enough to rattle her teeth together. At least she started paying attention to me and I did not manage to get myself blasted off.
“Good.” I said when her eyes focused on me and cleared a little. I need you to tap into my power Gwenn. You are going to need it to defeat him.”
“Why…” Gwenn started.
“Just do it, you do not have much time left.” I thundered at her and her eyes went gold while I opened my self to her. The process lasted less than 10 seconds but I was still blasted away from her by Kastav who was no longer Kastav. He was not a huge black shadow and when Gwenn sent another blast into the shadow. Kastav screamed but the shadow shrugged it off.
“Kastav need to die, he is acting as protection for Mazikeen.” I called out to Gwenn and when the shadow turned to me next, Orel sent a sword flying straight to Kastav’s heart.
Wrong move. The shadow blasted into my head and I am sure, it was everybody’s heads as it seemed to grow twice in size and left Kastav totally as Kastav laid dying in a pool of his own blood.
“Right one.” Gwenn replied as she stood up from the ground and started running towards Mazikeen who threw orb after orb at her but she dodge it all, predicting the next step before it happened.
She ran into the shadow and a golden light shone from her, surrounding Mazikeen.
“You wanted power, here is mine.” Gwenn shouted as she poured, raw undiluted power into Mazikeen. He reduced drastically in sight before Gwenn stopped, staggering under the weight of the power she just expended. “You also wanted to be a god. Well go and meet them in their realm.” Gwenn said weakly then she opened a portal and pushed Mazikeen into it and after a lot of fight, he lost his hold on this world as he was swept fully into the portal. It was only then that Gwenn sank to her knees.
Everybody including me rushed to her side but before any reached her, she collapsed on the ground. The battle won but the number of casualties was still unknown.

Gwenn pov
“I cannot believe that you were left in Charge. Gwenn will not be happy when she wake up.” Themis growled at someone who was crying, a lot of dim voices were around but I could not concentrate on them.
“Do you know when that will be?” A male asked but Themis sighed.
“I wished I did but I don’t. I am without my gift now, I gave it to her to help her defeat Mazikeen.” Themis responded.
As soon as she said the name, my eyes flew open and I rose from my lying position. “Where is that bloody bastard?”
Everybody shifted away from me, excluding Themis who came closer. “You did what you could do, you reduced him to the lowest he could be and then you sent him far away from this realm.”
“I could have killed that bastard.” I growled but Themis sat close to me and placed her hand on my shoulder, pressing me back to the position I was before I sat up hurriedly, when she did that, I realized that I was aching in a lot of places. I did not remember the last time I felt this way.
“You did the best you could for there is no killing of Mazikeen. He was already immortal.” Themis answered.
“What about the casualties…” I started.
“I do not know yet.” Themis replied and then my eyes popped open. Arius.
“What about my husband?” I asked as I sat up again and this time, I did not just sit but I also stood, I immediately regretted that choice when everywhere started spinning.
“Apparently, you have a death wish. Sit down and do not make me angry. Orel already lost one of his closest friends, he is not going to lose the other.” Themis growled at me as she yanked me down back to my seat but did not force me to lie down.
“Where is Arius?” I asked. I looked around, taking the face of three council members, numerous Nisses and Arius siblings, minus Severa and two brothers.
“We do not know, he is missing.” Catia responded, keeping her gaze on the floor. I noticed their eyes were red and that was when Silana death hit me.
“No…” I started, shaking my head but Themis held me while I cried.
“Silana had her calling and she did her purpose.” Themis consoled me, her voice choked too with tears.
Orel took a seat beside me, Elison happily gurgling in his arm but the one that was freed was what he used to squeeze me.
“Remain strong sister.” He muttered.
“What about Sorens. If Arius is missing then he carted him away before anything happened.” I asked and this time, everybody looked away from me, Themis and Orel. “What is going on?” I asked, trying to look at their faces but they kept their heads bowed.
Themis let out a choked sound as she removed her hand from my person. That was when I knew that I had returned her essence back to her. She now has her powers once more. “What happened to Sorens?” I asked her but she shook her head.
“I am so sorry.” She apologized and that was when my fight with Mazikeen came back to me completely, he had said something about Silana and Sorens. I looked at Themis eyes and her gaze confirmed everything.
And that was when I started screaming while crying, losing myself to mindless grief. Silana chose her path but I placed Sorens in his path. He died because of me. His death was my fault just like how Elison’s own was also mine.
