Chapter 284: Chapter 284: Level up to 7 or it’s nothing
Back in the castle, Lucien looked out of his father’s office with a big frown.
It was one of the rooms that had the best spot to look at the entrance. And right now, the entrance was not the best thing to look at.
There were around ten carriages lined together, some to the side in order to barricade it.
The baroness joined Lucien too, her face more casual than his.
"This academy is a lot more problematic than I thought. They have wasted so much force just for a child," she spoke.
"Well, the kid is a little strange, but even taking that into consideration, this has gone too far."
Lucien’s grip tightened into a punch and a vein popped when some overly uniformed individuals just barged into the gate.
The knights had to get out of their way as there were clear orders from the baroness: do not engage with this group.
When these individuals came up to the wall, it opened abruptly, making them all look at an old butler dressed in all black.
"This way, gentlemen," he spoke and looked at the one woman in the group. "Lady."
Alfred took them inside the castle and then to the baron’s room. There was silence in each and every nook of the castle.
But there were knights almost everywhere. Each was in a stationary formation in a line, with their right hands at the hilt of the sword.
"Is this setup to intimidate us?" one of the men in the uniformed group spoke.
"It’s just daily routine, sire," Alfred spoke and moved forward.
The uniformed person tried making eye contact with one of the knights, only to see that they were looking straight ahead with a calm but intense expression.
His eyes went to the other men with him, and they nodded.
When they were finally at the gate of the baron’s study, Alfred opened it, revealing the duo of a giant son and a known business-operator mother eagerly waiting for their arrival.
"Let us begin and end this farce once and for all," the baroness spoke with icy-cold eyes.
"What do you think our goal is in this gate, Theo?"
The four people were still in front of the camp, readying as many servings of the crawlers that were getting butchered.
Clara had decided to make some dehydrated meat with it so as to store as many of them for later as she could.
"If you’re asking about the personal goal, then I would say it’s to make me stronger, father. But if we are talking about the main gate instead, then I would say it’s to complete it."
"Leave the personal goal for now. Once you enter a gate, you’re bound to come out stronger no matter what." The baron stated and continued, "The main purpose we have here is not only to complete this gate. We have to think beyond that."
Theo was all ears, thinking about what it was all going to be.
"You and your attendants were never given formal training for a gate. So you don’t know how to procure rare materials. I will teach you three how to do it with each step we will take moving forward."
"We will keep this camp we made as our main base and only travel back and forth. No matter how far we go, this should always be the one we return to, no matter if we have to sleep out for a while in another location." The baron explained, making the three nod.
"But before we move anywhere forward," he said again, "you three need to level up a lot more. Use these crawlers to do that. I give you three two days to become at least level seven, got it?"
Theo looked at his father in dumbfoundedness. "Level seven in two days is just ridiculous, father," he spoke, making a vein pop in the baron’s head.
"You brat, if you can’t even level up this much in a gate, then you will take half your life to reach level ten, you hear me? Your brother Cedric reached level seven in a day of coming here. I am giving you two." The baron spoke with creased eyebrows.
At the name of Cedric, all reason in Theo’s head vanished. Somehow, things didn’t look any more difficult anymore.
"We will do it," Theo said and got up with serious eyes.
"Good. Just keep moving forward until those beasts start pouring out of the ground. I will hold the fort here with the aura. Can’t let those maggots touch the newly made camp."
With that, Theo, Clara, and Elias already started moving forward while the baron waved his hand goodbye with a smile.
"To reach level seven in two days... that will be a tough one, young master. How much EXP do you need?"
Theo looked at his status screen and chuckled. "I need about 1,600 to reach level six, then I don’t know the requirements for level seven. What is it?"
"Hmm... you’re leveling up to six a lot sooner than I thought."
"I got this glutton hunting in the forest on its own almost every day, and then the ants who keep giving small amounts of EXP, but their numbers are high, so I always get a good number of EXP every day from them too."
"That’s amazing, young master," Clara spoke with happiness before revealing the needs for level seven. "You need 15,000 EXP to reach level seven."
Theo halted for a moment and then started moving again. "15,000... that’s more than I remember."
"Fortunately, we can use one plan, young master." Elias spoke with a confident smile, making Theo and Clara look at him.
"Let’s first see where the aura of the baron vanishes. That is our protective barrier. What we can do is fight right outside it for as long as we can, and when it gets dangerous or we are tired, we can hop inside the aura again to be safe. What do you think about it?" Elias asked, making Clara and Theo look at each other and then at him.
"Elias, you fucking genius."
"Ahh, language, young master!"
