Chapter 31: Chapter 31
Havanna's POV
I soon heard the sound of my light being switched on, and I jumped from my bed. I was just overjoyed.
"Lucian!" I screamed, running to hug him, as I almost pushed him down in the process.
We didn't even say a word to each other, as he looked very stressed. I didn't want to bombard him with questions, even if that's what I felt like doing at that point.
I freed myself from him, and as I held his hands just to observe him from head to toe, I couldn't help but notice the lipstick marks on his clothes.
"Lucian, where have you been?" I asked him, still hoping I was going to get a reasonable explanation.
"On the road" he replied, and I could almost hear the sound of my own heart breaking into pieces.
"I was so worried about you. They had announced that you were attacked, and assumed you to be dead.
I thought that something really bad had happened to you, I could barely eat or sleep. If you wanted to stay out late, just so you could spend time with another woman, then wouldn't it have been right for you to call? .
And you had to switch off your phone? Do you hate me so much that you don't want me to know if you are safe or not?.
I know you don't care about me but I care about you, and I can't help but worry" I was doing all I could to hold back my tears. All this stress, just because he wanted to have fun outside.
"What are you talking about? I have not been with any woman. And I was attacked. I have been on the road for the past nine hours..
Havana please believe me this time, and stop assuming things'' he tried to hug me, but I drifted away from him.
"Then tell me what this is" I pointed to the lipstick marks he had on his shirt, and he threw his head backwards.
"Oh gosh! I had bumped into a lady at the office and that's just it. I didn't spend time with any woman" he was trying to convince me.
A huge part of me, the part that cared about him, wanted to believe him, but it was obvious that he was lying.
"You should have your shower and rest. You must be tired" I informed him, climbing onto my bed to sleep.
"Is that all you have to say? Aren't you going to ask me what happened? Aren't you going to ask why I am home so late, and how I managed to escape from my attackers?" He questioned, and I turned to face him, still lying down on the bed.
"You just told me, didn't you? You said you bumped into a lady at the office, and her lipstick managed to get on you.
And on your way back you were attacked. Thankfully you are alife, and that is all that matters. Good night" I turned to sleep.
"Please, switch off the lights and shut the door on your way out" I reminded him, as I closed my eyes pretending to be asleep.
"Havana!" He called out to me, and I ignored him.
"Havana, I know you are not asleep. Please talk to me" he pleaded, sounding so down.
I didn't care, he should go and talk to the woman he spent his day with. She gives him a lot more than I can.
Lucian's POV
Just when I thought that my day couldn't get any worse. I thought I would spend the rest of whatever was left of the night, in Havana's arms but no. This lady just had to rub her lipstick all over my shirt.
This should be a crime against humanity, I was also too tired to start asking for her forgiveness when I did nothing wrong.
I waited for two minutes if she would turn around to look at me but she didn't, so I switched off the lights and shut the door of her room.
I managed to get to my room, and climb the bed.
I didn't even realize I had slept off until the following morning.
I had to go to work. I would be having a meeting with some of the state governors. I couldn't miss it.
I hurriedly had my bath, and went downstairs to have my breakfast. I met Havana there.
"Good morning Havana" I greeted her with the hopes that her mind would have calmed down by now.
But, instead of answering my greeting, she carried her food and went upstairs without saying a word to me. Was this how she planned to avoid me?.
It isn't going to work.
By the time I went after her, she had already locked the door to her room.
"Havana, you can at least listen to me. I don't know why you are angry, just open the door.
Let's talk about it quickly. I have an important meeting to catch up to" I knocked on her door but there was no response.
I knocked to the point that my hands got tired, I looked at my watch, and realized that I was already running out of time. I left the house in a hurry.
Havana's POV
Does he take me for a fool?
I am not stopping him from doing things with other women, but the fact that he switched off his phone so I couldn't get to him.
And still came back to lie to my face does not interest me.
Why did he have to lie to my face? It was not necessary and that's the reason I am angry.
Not to mention the fact that I have to stay in one place, cooked up all day with nothing to do. It is annoying, and I just can't take it anymore. But those men will not let me leave the mansion.
I know, I'll just lie to them, that Lucian called me so they'll have to let me leave.
