Chapter 76: Chapter 76

As if it wasn't enough that since Edward found out that someone else knows about him and Joan, he had been having nightmares, especially whenever someone brings up a topic close to it. His life had been normal, since thinking that no one knows his secret, but now that he knows that someone else knows about them, he has become too worried that whenever he closes his eyes, all he does is dream.

He had only just woken up to a brand new day, when his phone started ringing. There used to be a time when Joe's call meant a lot to him, but for some time now, he is always reluctant to take his call and he feels bad that he is even calling him.

"Hey man". He managed to sound as if he isn't worried about hearing from him so early in the morning after waking up from a terrible nightmare of what happened in the past.

"I was thinking I should tell you that I am traveling to Italy, for a business though, but I was thinking I could take the chance to look for Joan". At the mention of he name, Edward almost choked on his own word.

"Jo what? Why are you still thinking of looking for her, she left you and you are still looking for her? He asked, and Joe almost changed his mind about looking for her when he gets there.

"Well I guess you are right my friend, I should just focus on the business I am going there for, and not think of her. It's just that I was thinking, since she is from that part of the world, and she has told me a lot about the area, she might have actually left to that side, and maybe she is too scared to tell me, after all, she has been running all her life, she was running when I met her, and she still ran away from me, but somehow, I think I fell for her, and that was why I married her". He explains further.

"You didn't love her so much when she was with you, and she left almost three years ago, and you didn't look for her, you didn't care, why do you suddenly care now? Edward asked, wanting to make sure, he changes his mind about going further to look for her.

"I know man, anyways, I am going to take your advise, I will not bother about her anymore, I will focus on business, there are too many Blondies around". He says and Edward sighs hard, before wishing him a safe trip. He knows that the rest of the day will be war for him.

Joe's trip was long, because he had to make a lot of stop overs to deliver drugs at different locations, when he finally got to his destination, and had to lodge in a hotel, to meet his client, when he was done, he had to stay the night, with the hope that he will leave the country the very next day, but just laying on the bed, at a very early hour of the night was not his usual style, so he decided to go to a near by club to have fun, when he ran into a familiar face.

They were both staring at eachother, and he could tell that she knows him. He was still trying to place her face, when. he remembers that she is one of the girls, he had met with Joan, the night he first met her, he immediately tried to get his way through the crowd, he forgot all about Edwards warning, if he has finally met someone who knows Joan, then there might be a chance to see her again, then maybe they could start from the begining.

"Hey, do I know you? He asked, as if he haven't remembered her yet.

"Off course you do, you were the one with my friend, you took her home that night, and she later told me you guys became an item, she says you were protecting her from some dude who was after her life, but I guess, you guys didn't last, I haven't seen or heard from her for almost three years now". She says over the music.

"Can we go somewhere quieter, I really want to speak to you about Joan.

"Sure". She says and follows him, they got outside, and got into a cab, that took them back to his hotel room, she was clearly a call girl, for she was already thinking he wants to have his way with her.

You are really a smart man, I know why you brought me here, but I must tell you, the girl's code says, never date each other's boyfriend". Joe smiles and nodded his head in the negative.

"I am not going to let you break the girl's code, I just want to talk, and yes, I will pay you for the time". She became more relaxed, just hearing him say that, she placed her order, and started sipping her drinks calmly, while waiting for him to shoot.

"So did Joan ever told you she got married? He asked, and she asked him back.

"Married to you? Yes she did, she tells me everything, I am her childhood friend, and I know she has her reasons for not inviting me to her wedding, she really didn't want anyone to know about her background". She says as she takes a bite from the meat served.

"Are you saying she has a family? He asked and she nodded as to say yes.

Are they also here in Italy? He asked and she nodded again, as to say yes.

Then maybe they might know where she is. I mean, they are her family, she will tell them her whereabout Right?

"They don't know, I think if you don't know where she is, that means, she must have run off with another man, she is like that, but if you think her parents should know where she is, I will direct you to her house, and you could meet with her parents then, but I know she will show up some day". She tells him and after that, they had a really long chat and it was all about Joan, many of the things learnt that evening were things he didn't know about her, somehow, he started to feel less guilty about her disappearance, for he had lived with the guilt all his life that maybe he had been the one, that had driven her to running away, but from what he had learnt so far, she is not the type of person that would stay with a man, and she had lied about her family, because she never wanted anyone to trace her back to her house. She must be enjoying herself in one part of the world, and someday, he will find her, and he could finally feel at peace, that he did nothing wrong to her, to have made her run away.
