The next day, Joe had to cancel his flight, he won't be going back so soon, since he has a lead on his runaway wife, he is going to have to wait for some time, to find out if he could know more about her whereabout.

True to her word, Elena showed him the house, but refused to go in with him.

"Why don't you want to go in too, I thought you said she was your childhood friend?

He asked and she nodded her head.

"Her parents have always accused me of leading their daughter astray, they even warned me never to step foot at their house, so I am just trying to mind my business. Bye". She says without waiting for him to argue further with her.

I will be waiting somewhere on the other side for you". She added.

Joe moved to the door and only pressed the door bell once, before a stout, but hairy looking man answered the door, he has Joan's eye, and he didn't need anyone to tell him that the man standing Infront of him, has a connection of some sort, with Joan.

"Yes how can I help you? The man asked, looking around.

"My name is Joe, I was married to your daughter, before she left me and ran away, I am here to know, if you know where she is? The man looked back and forth at the man standing by his door, he called his wife to join them, while he opened the door wide for Joe to come in.

"She was married? He asked again.

To you? His rhetorical questions were expected, for Joe didn't think she told them, since she didn't want anyone to know about them, she must really be a bad child, with such lovely parents, her images were all around the wall.

"She never said anything about being married, she never even mentioned Joe to us before". Her mother says, looking sternly at Joe, who felt uncomfortable, but he could only prove to them that he speaks the truth, by showing them his wedding picture on his phone, they passed on the phone to eachother, before looking back at Joe.

"Young man, where is My daughter? Joe wasn't expecting such question from them, he opened his eye wide, and his lips automatically opened too, but no words came out.

"We have been looking for my daughter for the past two years now, almost three years now. I know she may not be proud to call us her parents or meet with us in public places, but she was doing it for us, she was only acting, as though she doesn't care, so no one comes for us, she was protecting us, from Pablo, a notorious drug lord, who wanted to possess my Joan.

Pablo disappeared, and my Joan disappeared, and that is why I am asking you to tell me where you have taken my Joan to? There is a name to the man she was running from, maybe if he could find the man, he will be able to find her.

"Like I said, we were married, and we were living fine, but all of a sudden, she disappeared, I really cannot tell why, but she just left, that is why I am looking for her". The old couple exchanged glances, before the woman started crying.

"My baby girl is gone, they have taken my baby girl". She wouldn't stop crying, until the old man asked again.

"What did you say your name is again?

"Joe, he answered simply.

"She told us she was with a man, but she never mentioned Joe, she mentioned Eddy, yes, that's the name, she says he is a paediatrician. Are you a paediatrician? He asked and Joe got up from his seat.

Did you say she said Edward is her man? The old man nodded innocently. If you know this Eddy, then it is him I want to speak with. Whenever my daughter calls, she always talks about him and how he makes her feel, he should know where my daughter is, you have to help me, if you ever loved my daughter ". The old man pleads, with his hands joined together.

Joe got up and started making his way to the door, he had just been stunned by the new realization.

"Could it be that Joan was making passes at Edward and started dreaming about him, that she imagines him to be her husband? He questions himself, and just then, the flashes of all the many times he had walked in on the both of them, started to play in his head. He remembers when he had invited Edward to his house, it was Joan's birthday, and he was throwing a big party, all his friends came and left that same night, but Edward was like a brother to him, and he didn't have to leave like the others, so he spent the night, but in the middle of the night, Joe noticed that Joan was missing in his bed, he searched everywhere for her, but she was no where to be found. He didn't bother checking the guest room, because he knows Edward would be there sleeping, only for when he went back into the room, he heard her voice in the rest room throwing up, she claims she was having a stomach upset and she had visited Samantha to give her some tablet, since they are just neighbours.

Joe didn't suspect anything, neither did he ask Samantha about it the next day, but now, he just heard something new, it feels like he has been used all his life.

He recalled the day he walked in on her, and she started crying immediately, he remembers Edward sweating profusely under the chilling air conditioner, and he claimed that Joan was crying because of something I said. Joe punched the wall of Joan's house in anger, but ended up getting a bleeding fist. Elena was around the corner waiting for him to come out, as promised, so she could hear from him since she too is looking for her friend, but seeing how sad he looked when he walked out of the house, she knew he didn't get a favourable response.

She rushed to him, but he wasn't in the mood to have anything to say to her, he got into a taxi which drove off immediately.

"I will kill that bastard". He swears as the driver drove on.
