Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Liam paced back and forth in front of the emergency room where they took Celeste. It's been more than 2 hours since he had brought her to the hospital. He was getting more and more worried by every passing minute. He just hoped nothing serious had happened to her.

He didn’t understand why she would faint so suddenly. He ran his fingers through his hair to get rid of his restlessness. Only God knew how worried he was when she suddenly fainted. For a moment he thought he was going to lose her and this thought scared the shit out of him. Nothing should happen to her. He had so many things to tell her yet.

Liam rubbed his face with his both palm and then took a deep breath to calm himself down. He should stop thinking rubbish. She was so strong so nothing would happen to her, right?

He didn’t know whom he was trying to assure. Sighing he turned around to look at the emergency room and fortunately a nurse came out of the room at the same time.

"How is she?" He asked. His voice full of anxiety and his smokey grey eyes were full of restlessness. The middle aged nurse looked at him with a smile before answering.

"Don't worry. She is fine. You can meet her now. You are her husband right? The doctor wants to talk to you. He's also inside." The middle aged nurse informed him in a friendly tone. Hearing her words, Liam felt relieved. Thank God she was alright. But his heart also clenched when he heard the part 'her husband'. He wasn’t her husband anymore and this realisation bothered him more than it should have. Liam brushed those thoughts aside and focused on the present. He gave the nurse a small smile and nodded.

"Thank you." He said and the nurse nodded at him with a smile before making her way towards the other direction. Liam looked at the door of the emergency room before making his way inside at a steady pace.

"Hello, doctor." He greeted the doctor who was standing beside Celeste's bed while checking some files.

"Hello Mr. Rodriguez. Please come in." Hearing his voice, Dr. Fred looked up from the file he was looking at and smiled at him before greeting him back.

"Thanks. How is she?" Liam asked while looking at Celeste who was lying on the bed, sleeping. Her face looked calm and angelic, giving his restless heart a bit of peace. He turned head towards the doctor from her and looked at him, waiting for his reply.

"She is alright. I gave her a light sedative. She would be waking up anytime." The doctor said while keeping the file on the table beside Celeste's bed. Liam nodded.

"Why did she suddenly faint? She was normal before we went to our penthouse. I was on a phone call and the moment I finished the call I noticed her fainting." Liam informed the doctor. His voice was soft and steady. But the doctor could notice the worry in his voice and the restlessness on his face.

"Seems like she got a panic attack. It could be because of any past trauma. Also the patient's blood pressure is very low. You need to take good care of her eating habits. I have prescribed some vitamins to make sure she takes them regularly." Dr. Fred informed Liam as he listened to him very attentively. But Liam's mind was stuck at the word panic attack and past trauma. He felt his heart getting heavy when he heard the words. He knew what caused her the trauma. It was all because of him. It was all his fault. If only he could turn back the time and make everything alright but he knew he couldn’t change the past. But he could definitely change the present and future. He had realised his mistake a long time ago and that time he was determined to make everything right.

"And the most important thing, Congratulations! Your wife is 2 month pregnant." The doctor announced in a cheerful voice while smiling. Liam who was busy in his thoughts looked at him with a shocked expression. His eyes were both wide as he stared at the doctor with shock. He couldn't believe his ears.

"I'm sorry, what?!" He asked to make sure what he heard was right.

"Seems like you didn’t know. The patient is 2 month pregnant." The doctor repeated his sentence with a smile, making Liam's heartbeat fast. He couldn't believe his sentence. Two months pregnant? Oh my God! That meant Celeste conceived when they had sex in her apartment two months ago. His shock soon turned into happiness when he realised she was pregnant with their child. They were going to be parents. He was going to be a father. And this thought made him smile in happiness. He looked at the doctor in pure happiness and was about to thank him for when they heard an ear piercing scream making them both turn around to the source.

"NO!" Celeste screamed as she sat up on the bed. She had just regained her consciousness a while ago when she heard Liam and the doctor's conversation. She was pregnant! She couldn’t believe her ears. She couldn’t be pregnant. She shouldn’t be pregnant.

"No! No! No! This couldn’t happen! NO! Tell me you are lying! Tell me! It's not true. I'm not pregnant! I couldn’t be pregnant! No! No! Liam, ask the doctor the truth. He's lying. I'm not pregnant! No!" Celeste panicked as she shook her head continuously. She pulled the IVs from her hands before throwing them away. Liam and the doctor who were both standing there came out of their shock. None of them were ready for this. They didn’t expect her to be so mad knowing she was pregnant. It was totally unexpected.

"Celeste!" Liam shouted before making his way towards her. He hurriedly went to her and hugged her while trying to calm her down. Celeste violently shook her head and tried to get free from his grip while crying.

"No! Liam! The doctor is lying. I'm not pregnant! No! I'm not going to have any babies! No! I won't give birth to anyone. No! " Celeste shook her head while sobbing. Liam was shocked to hear her words. He couldn't believe his ears. He didn’t understand why she was behaving like that. That wasn’t her. But he tried not to mind her words instead focused on calming her down. The doctor was about to come towards them when Liam gestured to him not to come as it would make her more agitated. The doctor nodded and stood silently there, letting Liam calm her down first.

"Celeste! Baby, calm down! It's not good for you. Please calm down!" He tried to calm her down by hugging her and kissing her hair. Meanwhile Celeste kept sobbing as her heart beat wildly. She didn’t want to be pregnant. She just couldn’t believe it no matter how hard she tried. It's just impossible. How could she be pregnant? She cursed God for again being so unfair to her.

Why was God so reluctant to give her some peace? Why did He have to punish her again and again? That time it was the most cruel way to punish her.

Calm down Celeste! Calm down! Be strong! She tried to calm herself down and took a deep breath. After a while she finally stopped sobbing. Liam kept rubbing her back while placing soft kisses on her head. Celeste didn’t say anything for a while as she kept mum and let Liam hug her silently.

After almost five minutes she finally opened her mouth before pushing Liam away from her.

"I want to have an abortion." She said, making Liam look at her with shock and pure disbelief. Her voice was firm while her face was totally blank.
