Chapter 45: Chapter 45

2nd trial: Fighting with a set of 30 medium-ranked rogues

I couldn't believe this. Is this a joke? How can Oswald give me such a mission? Is it because Oswald was annoyed with me? Is that why he decided to assign such a dangerous quest as my second trial? We all know that I'm a beginner at fighting.

Gosh. It wasn't even low-ranked; it was a group of medium-ranked rogues. In actuality, my fighting skill isn't even up to the werewolf's low-ranked level.

How can he give me such a quest: a week from now, you'll be fighting 30 medium-ranked rogues?

An amusing laugh spilled past my lips, even though I tried hard to stop it.

Did Oswald want me to fail or not? Looking past his possessive words yesterday, I think he wanted me to. Perhaps he's now tired of me, and since I'm too unconquerable for him, he can't wait to kick me out of his pack.

I mean, once I lose this trial, there's nothing left. Since I've failed the first trial, I'll be kicked out as soon as I lose the second one.

But if it's like this, he failed.

I thought and let out an amused and wicked chuckle. If it were an ordinary werewolf, Oswald mightn't have failed, but that's not me.

Ever since my noble position underwent a 180° change for the opposite, I've been subjected to different sorts of torture.

One of them includes being thrown into the Red Mist Forest, where the rogues are, in order to 'train' me.

The first time I was thrown into the red mist forest was a week and a half after my parents' deaths.

Back then, as a pampered princess who had never tasted grievances—after the event with slapping Leon—I was told to wash the pack's plates and wear a maid outfit.

'That ugly maid outfit.' I remembered barbing mockingly, and in a fit of anger, I ripped the outfit into pieces before returning to my bed to continue crying and wishing for the return of my parents.

However, it wasn't up to two minutes before I was dragged down the bed to the kitchen, regardless of my protest.

In a fit of anger, I angrily smashed all the dirty plates on the floor, and that resulted in my first cruel punishment.

After the maids reported all I had done, including some exaggeration, Henry concluded that I'm a bad girl and...

Immediately, Henry ordered that I be thrown into the red mist forest for two hours after hearing that there were traces of rogues in the forest.

I was scared stiff with fear, but despite my struggles, I was thrown into the forest.

I could remember cursing Henry and his generation in a bid to infuriate him and let me out, but no matter what I did, he didn't let me out of the forest.

After a few minutes, I transformed into my wolf and soon fell asleep, tired.

For a grieving pup, I wasn't given food or pampered like when mom was alive; instead, I was punished repeatedly, and all my treatment changed, so I was quick to fall asleep due to weakness.

However, it was a few minutes after I fell asleep that I felt a menacing shadow. I opened my eyes immediately due to a premonition.

I froze in fear and turned into a poodle when my eyes came into contact with the biggest rogue I'd ever seen.

Buzz!

The sudden vibrating of my phone jolted me awake from my trance. I stared at my phone, and I saw that Oswald had sent another text.

'In 2 hours. Weapons are allowed. Stimulants, boosters, energizing pills, or pills of any kind aren't.'

dealing with those medium-ranked rogues within two hours without those sorts of things? Perhaps if it were an ordinary beginner, she'd have been torn senseless by that time. However, that's not related to me. After all…

"I didn't grow up with them," I muttered and placed my phone in my pocket before taking my book out while trying not to let my mind wander.

I need to find out how to copy all the notes I missed and not forget the issue with the pure blood and golden eyes.

'Good morning, class'

.

Although it doesn't really matter, the class went without any sort of trouble or bad words directed at me today. There wasn't any whispering either.

Perhaps everything changed due to Arya's comment; since I'm yet to become one of them, I will never know.

Ping. Ping. Ping. Ping.

I took out my phone, my face contorting into a frown due to its repeated buzz. Who's this?

'Why aren't you replying to me?

Still throwing tantrums?

For real?

Maia, if you don't send a text within the next three minutes, I'll agree that you've chosen to forfeit the trial.'

Is he being real now? What if my phone isn't with me?

'Don't be ridiculous, Alpha. Didn't you attend class?' I texted him.

After my text, Oswald didn't reply, and I didn't bother chatting him up. After all, there's nothing to talk about.

As soon as it was break time, I began to pack my book into my locker.

I planned to use that timing to check out lists of books in the library that contain information about the Pure Blood, the Golden Eyes, the Red Flame Pack, and power axis pack relationship, etc.

"Maia. Maia." I lifted my head due to the call and flashed a smile at Arya, who stood by the door. I smiled and stood up from my chair, done with the packing.

Arya catwalked into my class with a beautiful smile on her face, her black eyes twinkling. "It's a break; what are you doing? Aren't you going for lunch?" Arya sat on the table before mine and tilted her head curiously.

"I need to go to the library. I'll forfeit lunch." I explained truthfully. I didn't know how fast I'd be able to find all the books I needed, but judging by my beginner level, I knew it wouldn't be as fast as I thought, and I might not be able to grab lunch.

"Judging by the time you arrive at school, I'm sure you didn't eat breakfast; you can't miss lunch either," Arya advised me with a serious look, but it only made me chuckle in amusement.

"Arya, you looked like the most beautiful doll in the world. Seeing you serious only makes me happy rather than feeling scolded." I teased, and she faked a glare at me.

"Ugh, Maia. Why aren't I getting angry at you?" Arya puckered her lips and blinked her beautiful eyes with grievances.

I looked at her with eyes filled with seriousness and curiosity. "What? It's a compliment." I retorted honestly, not understanding why she was angry.

"As a general, what do you mean I look like a doll? I'm a kick-ass cold general." Arya flaunted and raised her arms as if to show bulging muscles. She huffed when nothing showed. "I really can fight." She declared quickly, as if afraid that I wouldn't believe her.

I eyed Arya in bewilderment. Although Arya doesn't look frail, like she could be blown away by a breeze, her body figure isn't robust since she's slim and curvy.

"You're a general." I stared at Arya in bewilderment. I was not expecting that someone carefree and chatty like Arya could be. If Arya is a general, then why is she attending class?

"What do you expect?" Arya retorted, snickering and swinging her legs childishly. No matter how I checked, Arya didn't look like one.

"A beautiful doll that's carefree and opposite of Wyatt," I revealed truthfully

"Really?" Arya gave me a feigned death glare and ruffled her hair in grievance. "I never thought that you thought of me like this," Arya uttered in a low voice.

Suddenly, she harrumphed and looked at me seriously. "Hmph. I'm really capable." She enunciated strictly.

I nodded. "I understand. But why are you attending class when you're a general?"

Arya huffed and flipped her hair angrily. "I need to learn how to assist Brother Wyatt, but I hate comprehensive things; I'd rather fight. Due to my unserious learning habit, I'm thrown here until I can assist him. Ugh. Frustrating." Arya tousled her hair and pursed her lips.

As if thinking of something, Arya stared at me seriously again. "So according to what I'm saying earlier, you can't miss lunch. I heard that your second trial will be out soon."

"It's out." I blurted

"It's out? So fast? What's the challenge?" Arya parted her lips slightly in shock.

"Getting beaten by medium-ranked rogues in a week. Yeah, so I need inspiration." I explained with sarcasm, and Arya parted her lips in shock.

"What's Alpha thinking? You don't have the strength to fight them; let's forget yesterday's incident." Arya's brows knitted in a frown and pity. We both know that most werewolves with strength better than mine couldn't face 10 medium-ranked rogues, not to mention 30.

Arya gave me a pitiful gaze as if she could picture me failing the second trial. Perhaps that was also Oswald's thought.

I suppressed the smile that tried to bloom out and stared at Arya seriously. Since Arya is a general, she should know many things. "Arya, do you know what pure blood is?"
