Chapter 44: Chapter 44
I huffed and ruffled my hair before lying on my back in anger. “How dare he accuse me of throwing tantrums? Can't he be considerate of me? What if I died? Well, it won't faze him since he has a perfect mate next to his side. I hate him.” I bemoaned.
Until the next day, I didn't catch a trace of anyone. Great, I've healed already, and the most important thing is not to get stifled to death due to annoyance by just seeing their face. That Oswald jerk!
As soon as it's dawn, I take my bath, apply my skincare, and do all the necessary things I need to do before picking up my things.
I left for school without catching a trace of Wyatt. Perhaps he's out to train, or he didn't come home last night. Since I hadn't left the room since I woke up, I didn't know.
Still, the thought of being called selfish is a stab to my heart. I really want to rip him apart. Will he really lock me down and prevent me from leaving?
“Maia.” A voice called as soon as I stepped into the school compound.
I turned toward Arya, who waved toward me with a smile on her face.
I felt my stomach make a sinking sound. Recalling what I had done to Arya made a wave of embarrassment rush through me.
“Arya. I'm sorry.” I stopped a few meters from her and muttered apologetically.
Arya took steps to close the gap between us. “It's okay. I was the one who gave you a drink. There's no way your thinking won't get warped after all the bullying you've encountered.” Arya said in a nonchalant voice, which made me heave a sigh of relief silently.
“Thank you.”
Arya waved her hand confidently. “It's nothing.” I nodded, and we continued to make our way toward the class 9 building.
Arya suddenly paused. “Hey, have you done your phone setting?”
Yesterday had been so lonely; how could I even forget such an important thing as a phone? Had it been with me, I would have been able to make some searches. “Not yet. It's still in the hostel.” I carefully replied.
“Let's get it hurriedly.” Arya suddenly turned toward the hostel dormitory and urged me
“Yes.” I felt my heart softened by Arya. She seems sincere and friendly, and the most important thing is that she doesn't seem to be pretending.
Soon, Arya and I arrived at the hostel, and just as I expected, my phone was lying on the table. I strode toward the table and picked up my phone before sitting on the couch—Arya was also sitting next to me.
Arya introduced me to the phone's settings. She downloaded some apps on my phone and taught me how to use them.
Arya informed me of important school forums and helped me become a member of them.
While scrolling through the forum, I noticed that Lorelei and I were the ones currently trending in the school chart due to the fight that happened in the gym.
'Do you hear what happened? The Alpha and Beta had to save the abducted bitch. I said it; she's nothing but the runt of the pack. Why will Beta bring someone downgraded like her into the pack? Not at this time when the pack is being attacked repeatedly.'
'She had mediocre fighting skills, and we still need to worry about her getting abducted. Someone like her will really drag the pack's strength down. I wonder why she's here when she's not useful.'
Arya folded her arms and glared at the whispering students. “Maybe if you'll learn to mind your business, you won't be taking the last position every year. This year, I have my eyes on you.” Arya courageously said and pointed at them.
Her actions made my heart warm. What good things have I done for the Beta family to be the ones defending me every time?
I didn't think about responding to the stupid lots because actions would be louder in the future, and I knew they'd be the ones ashamed, but seeing Arya stand up for me still made me touched.
The people who had been whispering froze in fear upon hearing Arya's words. “Princess.” They called fearfully.
Arya swept them with a fierce gaze, and that made them tremble. “Maia is a member of Beta's family. If I hear any rumors from your class 9A…” Arya suddenly paused with a cold and challenging glare on her face. “You won't want to know.” She threatened.
Although Arya has a cute doll face, when her eyes and expression are cold all through, she's really threatening and menacing.
“We're sorry, princess.” They all begged, and Arya scoffed in return. “Better.” She commented, and that made them flee in fear, which made me wonder what Arya must have done. After all, what Eve and Nancy told me was that Lorelei is the strongest.
“You're not worried about the repeated bullying; should I raise the topic with my cousin?” Arya suddenly asked in concern.
Mentioning Wyatt made me recall yesterday's events, and it made my mood plummet.
I took a deep breath to calm myself, and I shook my head. “No, it's okay.” I can't childishly depend on Wyatt every time, and since they're only using words and not actions, it's okay.
I quickly switched the topic, seeing that Arya was about to comment. “They call you Princess?” I inquired because she had only introduced herself to me as Wyatt's cousin.
“Yes, the Luna Queen took a liking to me, so that's where the princess title came from.” She casually explained and continued to walk up the stairs with me.
I arched my brows in curiosity. “What class are you in?”
“Class 9b. The mysterious and best class.” Arya gushed happily, but seeing me stare at her unfazed, she shrugged.
“Your class and ours don't see eye to eye, so they won't mention our class to you. I wonder what the secretary was thinking of when she assigned you to class 9A.” Arya chatted happily, and I casually made an acknowledging sound in reply to her words.
Soon we arrived at class 9A, and I waved to her. “See you.”
“Bye.”
As soon as I opened the door, my eyes met Lorelei. Lorelei's face looked pale, and her cheeks looked a bit sunken as if she had been sick for a few days.
Lorelei eyed me with an undecipherable glint in her eyes and turned away from me with a silent scowl.
I shrugged and went toward my seat, wondering what her problem was.
'Perhaps she realizes that her partner isn't that interested in her because of us.' Maia mentioned gleefully, and that made me smile.
'Then get ready to battle.'
'For my sweet mate, I'll.' Maia cheerfully replied, which made me roll my eyes.
Stinky, lovestruck wolf
I was about to take out my book when my phone buzzed. I unlocked it with my fingerprint and frowned slightly when I received a message from an unknown number.
I tapped on the message. However, in the next second, my eyes widened in shock. That damn Oswald!
