Chapter 29: Chapter 29

I can't help chortling at the greeting. A slut calling another slut. Hilarious! The kettle is calling a pot black. Not to mention the fact that I'm not even a pot.

I sighed while wondering whether to give a response to Nancy, but, giving it a second thought, responding to all this stupid ridicule would make me fall to their level. Goddess forbid such.

My lips curled in a faint smile, and I folded my arms while acting as if I didn't even know that I was the one their words were directed at. Let me just let them sink into their bubbles for now. I'm a newcomer; I shouldn't cause trouble on my first day of school.

Thinking like this, I calmed down and decided not to pay attention to those fools. They'll stop once they realize that they're only making a mockery of themselves.

Thinking about it now, studying with this group of people will be the best thing ever.

“Bullying a new classmate as soon as she stepped into the class—Nancy, you really opened my eyes.” I was still immersed in my thoughts when a female's tiny voice sounded behind me.

I sighed in relief at the teacher's intervention. Thankfully, I don't need to start face-slapping so soon.

Besides, should I bite my lower lip hard and let crocodile tears pool in my eyes to make it seem as if it was all their one-sided bullying, and I was the innocent one?

It didn't even take a second before I discarded that idea. I'm too mature and classy for that! I'm too mature to act like a white lotus.

Nancy bit her lower lip due to the teacher's sudden arrival, but I could see that despite her displeasure, she still knew to respect the teacher. She faked a polite smile and called in a gentle voice, “Mrs.….”

“If you don't keep quiet there, then I'll need to report such a case to the Alpha; you certainly don't want the Alpha to hear such a bullying case.” The teacher asserted herself in a harsh voice before entering the class properly.

The female teacher was a pretty woman in her late twenties. She's currently dressed in a white suit and suit pants. She had a smile on her face as she walked to the front of the class, and upon doing so, she beckoned to me.

I raised my head high and straightened my figure as I proceeded toward her—to the front of the class.

With every step I took, there were different idyllic cheers from the male students.

'Hey pretty. Don't hesitate to choose to sit beside me later.'

'Hey, beauty. Send a smile to my side, and I'll die a happy man tonight,' etc.

I almost laughed at the exaggerated comments made by the male students, but I managed to keep it in

“Here am I, Mrs.” I bowed slightly to her the minute I arrived next to her, and she nodded to me.

The teacher parted her lips to say something, but before she could, one of the boys hollered again: 'Oh, my goddess. Such a smooth voice. I can't wait to die. Ugh, any more of that voice, and I'm walking in heaven.'

The teacher snorted and frowned playfully. “Shut up already, or else I'll do it for you properly. If you want to die, then do that after my class.” The female teacher declared, which elicited a lot of chuckling and playful mumbling among the class 9 students.

“Attention.” The female teacher ordered the slightly chaotic class 9 students, and silence reigned immediately.

“Today, we'll be having a new classmate in our class.” The teacher conveyed this to the rest of the class before pointing at me to introduce myself.

I nodded to her and bowed slightly at the class members before standing straight again. “Hi, classmates. I'm Maia, a new classmate. Please take care of me in the future.” I simply introduced myself, and the male students began to clap again while throwing mischievous comments around.

'Don't worry, I'll always take care of you. Even if you get tired of my care, I'll still force it on you.' One of them yelled, and my lips curled slightly at the words.

I'm glad that not all the class members are unreasonable, but from the female side, I don't think there's much chance for me, and it's not as if I cared.

Lorelei, in her unique black suit, leaned back on her chair authoritatively. She was sitting alone, unlike her other classmates, who have partners. Lorelei looked straight at me.

“Maia, right?” She called as if she had just heard my name for the first time, which made me roll my eyes. I guess she can never get tired of pretending to hear my name for the first time whenever I introduce myself.

“Your introduction isn't complete.” She stated with an innocent smile on her face, which I knew must be feigned.

I kept quiet and waited for her to continue without bothering to cast a glance at her.

A dissatisfied frown flickered past her face, which I knew must be because I was blatantly ignoring her.

Still, she continued. “Your complete name. Your parents' names, where you came from, and your educational background.” Lorelei articulated with a trace of arrogance in her voice.

There was an innocent smile on Lorelei's face, but all I could make out of it was nothing but wickedness.

I know that my arrival with Wyatt had made me an enemy of most of the girls, not to talk about attending the celebratory party with Wyatt as his partner.

I knew that if I told them that I'm from a poor family, they'd all believe that I seduced Wyatt to come in but if I chose to mention to them that I'm from a rich family, they'll believe that I bribed my way through which means Lorelei intends to trap me with her question.

However, it'd be bad to make her do a one-man show. Besides, how can I let her go without letting her face slap herself after she has presented herself as a proper tool?

I bit my lower lips and bowed my head while blinking my eyes with a feigned guilty expression.

Lorelei's eyes narrowed with a wicked glint, which made me stifle an amused laugh. I knew she must be thinking that I'd fallen into her trap.

“Those?” I tilted my neck and repeated in a shaky voice.

“That's what Luna ordered you.” One of the girls sitting behind Lorelei yelled at me.

I sighed and bit my lower lips dramatically. After the acting, I raised my head with an innocent expression and began, “Complete name: Maia Wyatt.” I dropped, which made everyone's eyes widen at my brazen actions.

“Family background: Wyatt's family.” I said again, purposely refusing to call Wyatt 'Beta' in front of them.

“And for others, Wyatt asked me to keep it a secret,” I uttered with a feigned, tiny, innocent expression and tone.

Lorelei, Nancy, and their cliques looked shocked as if they never expected my brazen reply.

I could hear secret chuckles from the students.

We all knew that if Lorelei wasn't Luna, the class members would've openly mocked her.

Lorelei glared at me, finally losing her innocent composure.

I knew they'd never expected me to be so brazen, but how would it be interesting if I didn't dash them a face slap that'll make their face hurt?

If they think they can trap me with such ridiculous tricks, then they should think again.

My eyes and Lorelei's eyes met, and she glared at me fiercely.

My expression didn't change; the implicit meaning was that I didn't even acknowledge her.

She has me in her heart, but she's too low for me to have her in mind.

“Interesting.” The teacher replied with an amused smirk, and I smiled at her in return. I feel like we can be great friends if we know each other.

“Just find a place to sit.” She waved me off, and I nodded.

While I made my way toward the back of the classroom, where there were empty seats, some students asked me to come and sit next to them, but I ignored them all.

I ended up choosing the last seat in the middle line. It was an empty chair and table, which meant I'd be without a seat partner.

Before I could sit down, I felt searing gazes pinned on me. Without hesitating, I raised my eyes to meet Nancy and Lorelei's furious gazes. My lips curled up, and I winked at them cockily, which made them glare at me harder.
