Chapter 28: Chapter 28

“Maia, right? You're assigned to class 9.” The secretary of the principal of the Power Axis Pack informed me while typing something on her laptop.

She's a petite woman in her thirties. She's 5.4 feet tall, and she was dressed in a yellow suit and a skirt that fell below her knees. There was a large, rimmed glass on the bridge of her nose, and her black hair was packed in a messy bun.

I had just completed my test. Yeah, you read that right—test.

I never expected that I'd be taking a test before being assigned to school—silly me; I should've known that's how it goes.

Besides, Wyatt didn't inform me I'd be taking a test before I could be admitted into school, or else I'd have read a few books after the whole skincare episode yesterday. Ugh!

Thankfully, I do secretly read whenever I clean the Red Flame Pack library, or else I'll have become the first princess to fail a test in Wolf Clan history. On another note, it's good that I didn't read beforehand, or my actual level might never be known.

Now that the secretary has told me that I was appointed to class 9, I only hope that it's not a class ridiculously low for my age and my brain.

Ugh! So frustrating! Everything is so painfully frustrating! So frustrating today and yesterday!

“Thank you,” I said. Nevertheless, despite the turmoil in my mind, I managed to keep a calm smile on my face and keep my voice poised. My hand was neatly placed beside me.

“You're welcome.” The secretary finally lifted her head and gave me a smile, her black eyes filled with a gentle light. She picked up a sheet of A4 paper from her polished table and handed it to me. “Here's your timetable.” She explained, and I nodded to her before taking a look at my timetable.

While I was going through the timetable, the door was suddenly opened, and a male student of 5.9 feet entered the office in an astonishing gray suit. On a closer look, it was the power axis pack uniform.

My lips curled up widely, and I was filled with anticipation instantly. So interesting! I can't wait to have my school uniform, but on another thought, my skyrocketing mood descended.

I don't know what class 9 was; what if my status falls below Nancy and the others? I would rather not imagine how much I'll be humiliated by her team. I might not even have the face to attend class anymore.

I wonder if Wyatt will help me skip if I tell him about it, but considering the type of person he is, I doubt he will. Ugh! So depressing!

“Here's Class 9 class captain, Oliver.” The secretary suddenly introduced the male student who had just come in, which interrupted my trail of thoughts. I raised my bowed head and nodded to Oliver in greeting, which he also did in return.

Oliver dropped three books on the secretary's table before she asked me to leave with him.

According to his face and stature, Oliver should be 19 or 20 years old, and it gave me a sense of relief. Perhaps my assigned class won't be as bad as I thought. What if my level of class is higher than the girls?

'Stop dreaming, okay?' Maia cut my fantasy off ruthlessly, which made my mood descend again. Cruel wolf.

'You're right.' I downheartedly replied.

“You've heaved a sigh repeatedly in such a timeframe. Is this an excited sigh or a nervous one?” Oliver suddenly spoke without stopping in his tracks.

I'm currently walking behind him, so I was unable to see his expression.

I tilted my neck and took a glance at the surroundings with an amused smile on my face. “Guess?” I retorted, and silence pervaded immediately.

I wonder how a school can be this organized and silent. Why is it that whenever I visit any part of the Power Axis Pack for the first time, I'm always shown a big difference in that type of place in the Red Flame Pack?

I can't help thinking that the red flame pack has done nothing but defile my brain.

Yes, what I meant was that the red flame pack was usually rowdy and uncooperative, unlike the power axis pack. Somehow, I'm anticipating attending class again.

“I guess it must be one of excitement and nervousness. Power Axis School is one of the top and strictest schools in the whole Wolf Clan, and only less than 10 applicants among tens of thousands are admitted each year. The current feeling is termed feeling overwhelmed,” he boasted, but in a pleasant way.

I couldn't help chuckling because even if I felt excited, nervous, and 'overwhelmed', my trail of thoughts were hundreds of kilometers apart from what Oliver was thinking. “You failed,” I responded with a taunting laugh.

Oliver suddenly stopped in his tracks and stared at me with disbelief written in his eyes. “Really?” He retorted, and I nodded indifferently.

After a few seconds, he nodded in understanding. “Oh. I guess your difference must've attracted the beta.” He said this and stretched his hand toward me. “Official introduction: Hi, I'm Oliver Blake.”

“I'm Maia.” I simply replied and put my hand behind me, having no intention of taking his handshake. Well… I don't know if Oswald's mismatched eyes are on me.

Although I failed the first test, I have no intention of failing the second or third, especially when there are many things I'm yet to know.

“May I refuse the handshake? For personal reasons.” I explained, and Oliver shrugged nonchalantly before he placed his hand beside him with no trace of awkwardness or anger in his eyes.

“Not a big deal.” He responded, and silence pervaded immediately as we continued walking.

Once we arrived at a blue-colored two-story building, Oliver began to walk the staircase, and I followed suit. Soon, we arrived at a passage where there were classes left and right.

After we arrived at the third class on the right side of the passage labeled class 9A, Oliver opened the door.

There were no teachers in the class, so the class was a bit rowdy as the members were doing different things. Some were chatting, some were playing with their phones, etc.

I was yet to heave a sigh of relief when I heard a familiar taunting voice: “Look who's here, that slut who thinks she can steal our Beta Wyatt.”

I turned to the last seat where the voice had just emitted.

Behold! It turns out that my classmates included Nancy, Lorelei, and their group of friends. Should I heave a sigh of relief or anticipate this?
