Chapter 117: Chapter 117
“My little iceberg; how could you lose so much weight, huh?” Natalie cried out and continued to fuss over Wyatt in concern.
Natalie’s hands kept on touching Wyatt's cheeks and arms as if to feel how much weight Wyatt had lost over the past few weeks.
I lowered my head and twisted my fingers, embarrassment swirling in my system. I couldn't help but think that it was my fault that Wyatt was like that.
As a wife, I need to make sure my husband's health is one of the most important things, yet I failed woefully at that. “I'm sorry, it's my fault…”
“Your fault? What are you talking about?” Natalie retorted, albeit gently, and held my arms immediately.
Natalie gently placed my hands down before placing her hands on her waist. She pointed at both Wyatt and me and softly chided us. “The both of you have shed a lot of weight. What? Have you both gone on a hunger spree? Are you not eating properly?” She questioned seriously.
My face reddened immediately, but before I could say a word, Wyatt subtly wrote a sentence onto my palm with his index finger.
My lips curved up when I realized Wyatt had written ‘I love you’ on my palm.
In the next second, my eyes reddened and my body shook when he wrote, ‘I’ll fuck you tonight.’
As soon as Wyatt wrote those words, his lips curved up in satisfaction, and he let my hands go.
My lips parted in shock. I thought this man's intent from the beginning was to confess sweet things, but it turns out that the sweet things were just to practice for his last sentence. Such a scheming man!
I balled my hand, which still had Wyatt's warmth, and my heart couldn't help but skip due to joy. It felt as if Wyatt and I were two bad children who were concocting bad plans while being warned by adults!
“The two children should still be home by now. Why have both of you resumed so quickly? When did you plan to get married, and when will you go on your honeymoon?" Phoebe, Arya's mother, asked in a breath while running her hand through Arya's hair gently, with Arya squinting her eyes in delight.
Immediately, Oswald's eyes constricted dangerously, and his pressure became overwhelming.
SCREECH!
Abruptly, Oswald stood up and deliberately pushed back the dining chair hard. The chair made a screeching noise and broke the smooth conversation.
Oswald's mismatched eyes fell on me intensely, but I looked down and refused to look at him.
After a few seconds of refusing to meet Oswald's gaze, he withdrew his intense gaze. “I'm thirsty.” He simply articulated and made his way to the kitchen in an unhurried leisure stride.
The parents frowned and exchanged bewildered glances before their gazes fell on Wyatt and Asher, clearly finding Oswald's actions weird.
“What's going on between the three of you? Rumors are spreading in the office.” Alpha King Hudson inquired, his eyes and thick voice laced with seriousness.
Immediately, Asher's gaze fell on me, but in the next second, he looked away quickly.
Even though none of the adults saw or understood the meaning behind Asher's gaze, I knew his short gaze implied I was the reason things went downhill for the three!
Asher leaned back on the couch he was sitting on and grinned like a Cheshire cat. “Uncle, what could happen between us? It's just a little misunderstanding. Everything will be fine.” Asher casually responded, as if the fight between the three of them wasn't a big deal.
If I hadn't known better, I'd have believed Asher's words with his leisurely way of speaking and the smile plastered on his face.
Wyatt casually took hold of my hands and began to play with my fingers. Although I wanted to ask how Wyatt was doing, recalling how two days ago ended, I couldn't help but shiver and keep my mouth shut!
“A little misunderstanding? And you three are like that?” Alpha King Hudson retorted with a scoff before pointing at the two, including the nonchalant Oswald, who currently held a glass and bottle of water in his hands.
Oswald indifferently made his way to the dining chair he was sitting on earlier and sat on it again.
Alpha King Hudson raised his chin, and his gaze fell on Oswald. “Oswald, what's happening?”
Oswald leisurely took a glance at Alpha King Hudson before he uncapped the bottle of water and poured water into a glass. “I can solve my issue myself.” He coldly proclaimed.
“Not when you're being like that to your partners!” Alpha King Hudson lectured coldly.
Oswald's lips curved, and his gaze fell on Wyatt and me immediately. “I only need one thing from him. As long as he lets it to me, we'll be fine.” He declared firmly and smirked.
I felt Wyatt's body grow taut immediately. If it weren't for the parent's presence and my incapability, I really wanted to beat that narcissistic jerk, Oswald. Why is he trying to make it seem as if Wyatt and I did him wrong every time, even though he was the one at fault?
‘Maia, you have a psychopath for a mate.’ I inwardly told Maia.
‘Maia, you really knew how to make a psychopath get attracted to you,’ Maia sarcastically replied to me. I scoffed at her, and she snorted at me immediately.
Mr. Finley furrowed his brows and stared at the three in bewilderment. “What can be so important…”
Lorelei suddenly bit her lower lip demurely and cried out. “I…”
My eyes constricted and my expression changed immediately.
For Lorelei to be like that, I knew that nothing good would come out of it. Who knew what wicked plan she was concocting?
I stood up immediately. “Mom, can I help in the kitchen?” I inquired gently, my words putting an end to Lorelei.
Lorelei’s eyes were filled with dissatisfaction, and she secretly glared at me for the interruption.
Natalie’s hand flew to my shoulder, and she made me sit down immediately. “What are you talking about? You looked so lean like this; how could I let you work in the kitchen? You don't know, but staring at the both of you gives Mom a lot of heartache.” Natalie touched her chest and sighed. She turned to Wyatt seriously and asked. “Wyatt, when do you plan to hold your wedding and go on vacation?”
Suddenly, Wyatt let go of my hands and gently placed them on my lap.
Wyatt stood up, took out a black envelope from his trouser’s pocket, and walked towards Oswald immediately.
Without saying a word, he stretched the letter towards Oswald, who collected it without saying a word. Everyone's curious gaze fell on the two, who were acting mysteriously.
Oswald casually opened the envelope and silently went through it. As soon as he opened the letter in the envelope, his glazed eyes turned cold.
The more Oswald read the content in the envelope, the colder his expression and the pressure oozing out of him were.
After a few seconds, Oswald raised his head and stopped reading the letter. He nonchalantly looked at Wyatt and leaned back in the dining chair.
“Still another great scheme, Wyatt Hayes, but... unfortunately, I have no intention of playing.” Oswald suddenly smirked wickedly.
Within the blink of an eye, Oswald coldly tore the paper and the black envelope into shreds before crumpling them. His lips curved in a taunting sneer throughout his actions.
Upon seeing Oswald's actions, Wyatt stiffened, but in the next second, his jaw clenched and his fist balled in anger. “Oswald. Don't go too far!” Wyatt coldly bellowed and grabbed Oswald's shirt collar in indignation, his black eyes now turning into a mismatch!
Wyatt had always held his composure, but whatever the letter must have carried must have been so important to Wyatt for him to lose his composure! And that was what Oswald acted on.
Immediately, there seemed to be a smell of gunpowder invading the room.
“You want to get married to her? In your dream!” Oswald retorted provocatively.
Without hesitation, Oswald threw the shredded paper, which I realized must've held the content of Wyatt's and my wedding requests, into a trash can.
Oswald raised his chin and stared at Wyatt before his gaze fell on me with a taunting smirk. “Don't forget, she will always be an outsider until she passes the last trial. And without my permission, both of you can't get married.” He conveyed coldly.
