Chapter 79: Chapter 79
I couldn't believe it! What was Stacy doing here and why did she have to run into Jessy? What should I do now?
I was deep in my thoughts, in a panic, when Jessy started talking again.
" As I said, these humans will be useful to us, to serve our cause…"
I was shaking all over but I had to know how and why Jessy and his fellow partners needed humans to achieve their goals. Humans consider the mystical world like urban legends without really believing in it, so how could humans and creatures be tied?
Aren't they playing with fire by letting certain humans know about our existence? What happens finally?
" What are you going to do with them? I don't understand how humans could help in a fight with alphas, especially the Soul Moon Alpha that you say is so powerful. It's a little nonsense there, humans are weak beings compared to creatures so explain to me." I said, while my mind was in turmoil with this discovery.
Jessy smiled, coming to put his hand on my shoulder. This action immediately made me feel uncomfortable, feeling goosebumps covering me. This smell was not the same Jessy often has, it is both spicy and disgusting, the complete opposite of what I smelled the day before.
This one was nice and sweet around the edges, it was an ordinary omega flavor. But there, I have the impression of smelling a pepper mixed with shit. It gives me an unpleasant feeling in the back of my throat.
I immediately put my hand on my mouth, I felt like I wanted to vomit so much nausea took me.
" What is…"
I couldn't help myself as I nearly choked on that filthy disgusting smell, pulling me as far away from Jessy as possible.
The latter began to laugh as he returned to his normal state allowing me to find the purity of the air.
"See what my modified pheromones can do to a high-powered alpha like you? It's amazing, isn't it? But hey, that's not something I should brag about since you're not yet an experienced alpha like most of our enemies. The Soul Moon Alpha is said to have pheromones of unprecedented ability, the kind you only see once in a millennium. His mastery of pheromones and his way of using them are such that no one can compete with him." Jessy sighed before continuing.
" No one has ever seen him fight, he just has to use his pheromones to finish off his opponents. But imagine that this unique ability is tamed, that he could no longer use his powerful pheromones"
I widened my eyes as Jessy smiled.
" You got it! He would be within reach of other alphas in our camp. Even if we do not always know all of his powers, it is certain that deprived of his pheromones, he will be more vulnerable." Jessy spoke with confidence and I frowned.
As Jessy pointed out, I'm just an inexperienced alpha, which means an alpha like Elsa or her son could easily get rid of his yucky pheromones...
Not to mention that powerful monster like Soul Moon's Alpha described by Jessy. You would have to be oblivious to bet everything on this fact alone.
" Then if the fact of modifying the essence of your pheromones is not enough, how do you plan to beat this man?" I wondered if these humans, especially Stacy, could be used.
I shivered when I saw Jessy smile. He introduced the prisoners to me as I stared at Stacy who seemed lost in this unfamiliar place. Who would not be?
" We will use these humans to create mutants," Jessy said calmly.
" Mutants? What do you mean?" I almost screamed with surprise.
" You see, we started by kidnapping creatures for experiences. Afterward, we tried to modify their nature but it turned out that it was useless because the creatures have complex genes." Jessy stopped before sighing in complaint while I was looking at him with dread. He's crazy, all this pack is. Jessy continued his statement ignoring my thoughts.
"It is hard to mix in a body with various DNA, the subject of the experiment always ended up dying making a rejection against these foreign cells. The only positive thing that we had by kidnapping these creatures was the creation of this drug. It allows us to temporarily alter our pheromones as I gave you the preview, but always in small doses so as not to be exposed to catastrophic repercussions for our lives."
" But what are humans doing in this story?" I yelled at him wanting to know already.
" I will explain, so calm down ... Do you know where the popular beliefs of the urban legends that feed the humans come from?"
" Hmm no…" I responded bored.
" It's simple… Let me tell you a story. In a distant time, before the creatures decided that humans should no longer know anything about our existence, several millennia. Humans and creatures live alongside each other very well. "
" Yes, but what do you mean with all these charades?"
" How do you think the creatures decided to isolate themselves from humans?"
My eyes widened as Jessy shook his head.
" Even if the main lines report mostly lycanthropes, bats, and witches because they have similar appearances to humans, other creatures have been told. Humans say that from a bite of a bat commonly called a vampire, a human can transform into one of them. And if a lycanthrope inflicts a wound on a human, he transforms into a werewolf on full moon nights. All these popular beliefs have their source in a certain reality with a few exceptions."
I looked at him interested and he spoke.
" It's not exactly with these artifacts that humans become mutants... Do you remember the legend of Frankenstein?"
" Especially his monster ... but how is it related? He was just a crazy human who had performed experiments…"
" exactly... Frankenstein was a human yes, but he had fallen in love with a creature, a chiroptera. He wanted so much to live by her side because the lifespan of humans is limited compared to those of creatures. He knew that he would have already died when she woke up because she had fallen into a deep sleep for a century. To be able to see her again, he had decided to change himself into a chiropractor as well, but he just couldn't test it on himself. So he had used one of his servants... He injected him with bat cells that he had managed to capture but this servant had died not supporting the mutation of his genes. He, therefore, understood that there was something wrong and led many and many experiments. He understood what he had to do with this time a lycanthrope. He managed to create a werewolf by merging his butler with a lycanthrope. The creature of the myths, Frankenstein's monster was the very first lycanthrope human mutant even if he did not live long. The ancients found in this creature an aberration. With this success, Frankenstein tested himself with bat cells and he became the first human to change into a vampire. Even if in the end, he was just another aberration because, unlike bats who have control over their desire for blood, this Frankenstein vampire did not control his appetite. He had sown death and despair in the region, unable to curb his impulses. He had ironically lost his life at the hand of the woman he had done all this for. Just to say that a mutant just can't be like the creature that created him."
I was stunned, so that's what happened, and it's with this practice that Jessy and his cronies wanted to create mutants on those they kidnapped...
" But what could a mutant do, when he can't even control himself against an Alpha?"
" This is where the progress of science is wonderful... Sophia, we know how to create deviants. Not only will they be powerful, but their consciousness will be kept intact. Certainly not entirely but they will be able to keep control over their impulses, at least for those who will survive the experiments."
" But…"
I shook my head. I can't let Stacy have such a fate. I know it's selfish to only save her in the lot when the others are also innocent but I can't see Jessy freeing all the humans. But if I can at least save Stacy, then I'm in.
" The brunette in front... Please free her…"
" Hmm?" Jessy asked with surprise.
" I'll do what you want... But release her, please."
Jessy stayed stunned for a moment before smiling.
" Do you know her? Is she a friend from where you came? Hmmm, it's going to be a bit complicated but well, I'm going to do it, on one condition."
" Speak…"
" You come from a long line of powerful alphas and you are one too... Giving us a sample of your DNA will create another considerable contribution to our cause."
I didn't know what Jessy had in mind but if it saves Stacy then I'll do it.
" GOOD."
