Chapter 140: Chapter 140

Time passed and curiously, my grandfather and his pack were particularly silent.

Greg, Chad, Aïcha, Vangard, and I met often to talk about the secret we all shared. For Greg, it was better like that. Only a few of us knew what was going on behind the scenes. And he had said it in his own words, " It was better only we knew the details of this case" especially that we had among us, the great sage of the witches, the leader of the Alliance, a member of the tribe hunters, the master of vampires and me, a particular crossbreed of lycans and alves.

We sat in a secret location in the vampire territory Vangard had chosen for our meeting as he watched Chad with an undisguised appetite.

" Hide your intentions, dear duke, otherwise it will be a problem."

Aïcha had spoken surely while Vangard cursed.

" Well, let's get down to business. You need to know the truth about the attacks that Capital City suffered and the intentions behind them. We must stop this threat before it destroys us definitively, especially when humans begin to suspect our existence."

Greg announced and Aisha stood up to take my hand.

" Duke Vangard, young hunter, I know that you already know the queen of the lycans. But what you don't know is that she's a miracle that even we witches didn't think possible."

Vangard frowned and he wasn't alone as Chad also looked lost.

" What do you mean witch?"

Aisha smiled coldly, not seeming to appreciate this denomination before Chad, embarrassed by her gaze, looked down apologetically.

" Well, it is better that you see it with your eyes."

I looked at Greg whose golden eyes behind his mask reassured me before lifting him and closing his eyes. I concentrated on trying to discern my alfe appearance in my mind, then, I felt like a cool spring breeze passed through all my cells, and hearing the gasps in the distance, I knew I had managed to change myself in alfe.

I heard a chair tip over then opening my eyes, I saw Chad kneeling in front of me. He took my hand before gently kissing it, the pendant around his neck starting to shine.

Greg arrived pulling us away from each other while Vangard recovered from his surprise and cleared his throat.

"We, hunters, worship, and serve the alves as our deities. The reason why we protect and cherish them with our lives."

Chad looked at Greg before sighing.

" If the guild learns that your Luna is none other than one of our deities, I don't think things will be as simple as if she had only been a human. The hunters would demand that you return their goddess to them."

I gasped in horror as Greg held my hand.

" So dare to take what is mine."

Greg spoke threateningly and I shook with fear. I don't want to add more worries to our current situation.

" Chad…"

I called him scared and he smiled.

" Don't worry princess, I won't do anything that can cause you harm. I understand that you love this man…"

Chad spoke with a sad heart and I lowered my head feeling his pain. Duke Vangard, tired of our nonsense, finally spoke before raising a point.

" It's all beautiful but you know how much the alves' hate is. It's because of their betrayal millennia ago. If the queen of the lycans is one, I don't know what the other creatures will think but above all, what will happen within the Lycan Clan?"

He brought up the issue as Greg walked past me

" Sophia is my Luna, so whatever the consequences, I will face it in her place. That's my role as his alpha."

Greg spoke, making my heart pound with immense love as Chad also stood up.

" We, hunters, protect the alves with our lives. If anyone tries to hurt her, then we will go to war."

I swallowed then Aisha smiled.

" I vouch on behalf of the witches. The Lycan Queen has my protection."

Vangard sighed before nodding.

" Anyway, I'm watching you. From memory, this is the first time that a hybrid crossed with this breed has survived so many years and seems sane. So I'm not going to make it a problem."

He spoke as I decided to reveal the information I have of my grandfather's actions. I talked about the mutants, supported by Greg who told them about the history of the Soul Moon pack, how his family became heir to the Alpha title, and the grievances it caused.

"So if I'm good to you, it's because of your internal quarrels that we suffer?"

Greg wanted to hit this man. He's supposed to be over a millennium old and acts like a jerk.

"You are not there, Duke Vangard. It indeed started with internal grievances in the pack. But one of the major reasons which had pushed the pack to reject this family was the intentions that they nourished and continue to do today."

Greg spoke and Duke Vangard listened.

" What do you want to say?"

" Well, what these people want is not really to find the position of Alpha of Soul Moon but their intentions go further."

Vangard frowned before turning serious. From Greg's tone, he knew something bigger had to be afoot.

" They want the total and irreversible domination of the mystical world over that of humans, making the latter slaves of creatures. They want to upset the balance that our ancestors established with humans."

Greg finished talking and Vanguard sighed.

" It won't be so bad…" he started and Chad warned. He ignored the latter before continuing.

" But as soon as their stupid plan, they put their dirty paws on my little brother, they became my enemies. I will make them pay for that."

Everyone looked at the man scandalized. So if his brother hadn't been involved in this, would he have joined my grandfather's idea?

Was it right to trust such a volatile and simple-minded person? I looked at Greg and knew he also thought the same.

" Well, if it's clear…"

Had wanted to add Aïcha but Vangard spoke more.

"Moreover, if this peace treaty was established it is that the creatures were already threatened. Humans have become very powerful over the centuries and with the protection of the alves, I don't think it will be a cakewalk."

I sighed before looking at this man desperate. It blows hot and cold every minute and it's downright exhausting. I was in my thoughts when I remembered something. If the alves are so powerful and my blood was used for my grandfather's research, then we're screwed.

" oh shit."

Everyone looked at me interested and I gulped.

" Guys, I think I made a huge mistake."
