Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Emily should not show weakness. Her parents should not see her cry. They would probably feel worried and might ask her to go home and she will not let that happen. She fake a smile to and face them.

“Hey guys, I was surprised. I thought it’s the noisy Kimmy.” Emily said and wave at her family.

“Hi, honey. How are you? We missed you so much.” Her mother said while wiping her tears.

“Mom, what’s with all the crying?” Emily said with a worried voice.

“Honey, you’re making our princess worried.” Said her father while caressing her mother’s back trying to comfort her and calm her down.

“Don’t mind me baby. Mom just missed you so much.” She said assuring her that she is fine. Emily just took a deep breath before replying her mother’s question.

“I’m all right her mom, dad, boys. Don’t worry about me, okay? I’m doing well, I eat on time, I sleep on time, I don’t stress myself much and I-I’m e-enjoying my j-job.” Emily stuttered scolding herself secretly.

She should speak fluently and confidently. Good thing that it seems her family did not notice.

“I’m glad to hear that princess.” Her father said smiling and seemed satisfied with her answers. Her brothers also smile as well as her mother. They seemed relieved that she is doing all well.

“How about you guys? Boys, are you studying hard and helped mom and dad with the chores?” She asked her brothers. The three scratch their head altogether.

“Of course, we do big sis and we are studying hard.” Said Emerson.

“We will not let you down of course.” Eric agreed. While Elazar and Emmanuel both nodded. It is like showing her that their two elder brothers’ words were true.

“Don’t worry Emmy, I got my eyes on these four.” Kim speak out of nowhere. It is like she is somewhere around the house. Her face did not showed up.

“Where is that crazy woman?” Emily said while laughing.

“Emily don’t call Kimberly like that.” Emily’s mother scolded her. As if she is not used to the two of them. “She is in the kitchen preparing dinner for us.” Her mother added. Kim is always sweet and generous to her family. She can’t help but smile and feel touched because of that.

“Thanks for treating my family dinner Kimmy.” She said even if she can’t see Kim. She talked with her family for almost three hours and then they say goodbye because Kim called them that it is time for dinner. Kim told Emily that she will call her back after 20 minutes and they will have a chit chat. Emily did not wait long, she then received a video request from Kim. She immediately accepted the request and there she saw her family again.

“Hey family. I thought you all already went home.” Emily said.

“We will not go home without saying good bye to you princess.” Her dad answered.

“Bye big sis, we can’t wait for you to come home soon.” Her brothers said in chorus.

“Bye baby. Take care always, okay.” Her mom said. They all then wave goodbye to her.

“I’ll just going to accompany them outside then I’ll get back to you, okay? Wait for me. Don’t drop the video call.” Kim said.

“Okay, Kimmy.” Emily said while giving her a thumbs up. Kim just rolled her eyes which makes Emily laugh. She can hear her parents saying thank you to Kim as well as her brothers.

Then after a few minutes, Kim’s worried face appeared on the screen.

“So, how are you?” Kim said curiously. The weary on her eyes still showing.

“I’m okay Kimmy. Don’t worry okay. I just feel guilty you know. I lied to them and I’m not used to it. I even stuttered did you hear me earlier when I said I enjoy working? I feel bad like I’m the baddest daughter on earth.” Emily sighed.

“Yeah, I heard you. I was even nervous that they might doubt or feel that you are lying. But don’t feel bad you are doing this for them okay. Maybe you could tell them once you get a temporary job. So tell me about the job offer that you have.” Kim said excitedly.

“Guess what? I have an interview tomorrow.” Emily replied while smiling.

“Wow, that’s good news. I hope that you’ll get that one. I hope the child is not a menace.” Kim said while brushing her long hair.

“I hope so. But I can handle a menace child.” Emily said while shrugging her shoulder.

“Do you know anything about your boss? His name, what he do, and where he lives? Kim asked. Emily smiled and nodded. She is sure Kim would be shocked and will overreact once she told her.

“Of course I know, he is a chief and has his own restaurant. You know what he lives in an exclusive village for the rich people here in Spain. As a matter of facet my interview tomorrow will be held in his house.” Emily said and Kim shouted just as she expected her overacting friend is on it. Emily ust shook her head while smiling.

“Oh my God! Emi you better seduce your boss hahaha. What’s his name?” Kim shouted and laughed before she excitedly asked for her boss’ name.

“Actually his mother is a Filipina and her parents are residing in our country. His name is Federico Altagracia, Sr. His son that I’m going to babysit is Federico Altagracia, Jr. But we call him Rick.” Emily explained. She felt weird when Kimberly didn’t say a thing and she just froze. Emily checked on her phone that maybe there is a problem with the network. Emily is not sure if it is her phone lighting but she saw Kim face paled.

“Kimmy?” She called her to make sure that she is still with her.

“Oh, I’m sorry Emi.” Kim asked seemed like she just recovered from being shocked. Emily’s forehead knot. It was not the network or her phone either. Kimberly is really shocked.

“Do you know him? You seemed really surprised hearing his name?” Emily can’t help but asked because of curiosity. Kimberly strongly shook her head while faking a smile.

“Of course, I don’t know him he’s not famous hehehe. Maybe in there but hello I’m here I don’t live there hahaha.” Kimberly laughed but Emily can see that she is faking it. Her friend really behaves weird after she heard the name of Emily’s boss.

“You are weird you that?” Emily said.

“You know what, you better go to bed because you have an interview tomorrow.” Kimberly changed the topic.

“Yeah, okay I’ll hang up now. We talk next time okay? Thank you very much Kimmy.” Emily said as she wave good bye to her ever loyal friend that she can always count on.

“Don’t mention it Emmy. Okay, bye. Good luck tomorrow.” Kimberly said then drop the call. Emily then put her phone on the center table and went to bed. Tomorrow is a new day for her.
