On the other hand, Emily has been waiting for Aunt Roberta’s call. She is a bit nervous what will be her boss decision. Hopefully, it’s yes. She is now walking back and forth on her apartment’s living room while rubbing her hands against each other. She breathing heavily, trying to calm herself. Emily’s phone suddenly rang. She even bounced a bit due to unexpected sound from her phone. The call is from Aunt Roberta. She quickly ran off to the center table where here phone was place she then pick up the call.

“Hello, Auntie?” She said in a nervous tone. The old lady seemed notice the nervousness form her voice since it cracked a bit. The old lady laughed softly.

“Relax, baby girl.” She said naughtily. Emily can feel that she is teasing her. Though she is not physically with her, Emily can imagine her naughty and playful smile.

“It’s really obvious that I’m tense Auntie?” She asked and chuckle at the same time.

“Actually no. It is not obvious, it is very obvious. Hahaha, just kidding. Anyway, I have good news for you so don’t feel annoyed with this old lady okay?” Aunt Roberta said and laugh again.

“No, Auntie. I am not annoyed or irritated.” Emily said sincerely.

Well, it is really true she find the old lady cute not annoying or irritating. She even smile while saying it.

“Oh, you are really a very nice girl. You know what, I know I made the right choice to choose you as Rick’s mom.” She said which made Emily caught off guard. She was not sure if she heard what Aunt Roberta said correctly.

“What did you say, Auntie?” she asked to make sure she heard her right.

“I said, I made the right decision to recommend you as my replacement to be Rick’s nanny.” She said and laughed hard again. Emily just shook her head.

“So I was saying, I have good news for you, right? You will have an interview with my boss tomorrow at 9am so don’t be late okay?” She continued which makes Emily jumped and shout.

“Oh my gosh, Auntie! I really didn’t expect this.” Emily said while bouncing up and down.

“Calm down, will you? Relax, it is just an interview. Remember you are not hired yet. My goodness your reaction is like you are hired already.” Said Aunt Roberta trying to tease her and ruined her moment but she didn’t get affected.

She is still happy because she was given a chance and she will make sure that she will not missed this opportunity. This lies her career and the future for her family. She did not sacrifice for nothing. She did everything to get to this country and she will not put it to waste. She is getting there already. She just laugh at Aunt Roberta and continue shouting for joy.

“Thank you so much Auntie. Though I am not hired yet. At least your boss did give me a chance. I will do everything in my power to get this job.” Emily said with a voice full of determination.

“Good, that’s my girl. Okay I have to hang up now. Old people need to go to bed early. You too take a rest so you be up early and will not be late for tomorrow, bye.” Aunt Roberta commanded her. She was truly amazed with the old lady. She can be witty and playful but she can also be dominant and authoritative that she can intimidate you at the same time.

“Okay, Auntie. Bye.” Emily said before she hang up.

She is going to sleep tonight with a smile on her face. Tomorrow is definitely going to be a different, life changing, and a new chapter of her life. But of course, just temporary. Babysitting is not for her. She will do this job rather than going back to her home town and start from scratch she could never afford to do that. She is already in this country which is the solution to get her family out of poverty, to give her parents a good life, to make her brothers finished a degree. She want them all; to finish college and get a good job. She want to make all of her brothers’ dreams come true.

Aside from that, she is destined to teach not to take care of an infant or toddler for a job. She will do that when she get married and have her own kids which is not on her plans for now. Emily’s center of attention is her family and no man could ever change that for now. She even sometimes thought that maybe she will become an old maid. She is already 25 and yet she never had a boyfriend. Well, she does have suitors. Some of them were her co-teachers in the Philippines. But she turn them all down. Emily does not want any distraction. She does not want someone to divert her attention. If she will enter into a relationship she knew that it would ruin all her plans for her family. Aside from that, it might ruin her. Of course there are possibilities that the relationship will not work. Her friend Kimberly has been into a lot of relationship already. She saw how her best friend broke down. She saw how painful it was to be cheated on and that is one of those things that she is being scared of.

Being in a relationship is too risky. Loving someone is a gamble and she does not want to take a risk to know that at the end of the day the man is not even worth it. Emily is not sure if she can even take a broken heart from betrayal. Her phone suddenly rang which brought Emily back to reality. It is a video request from her best friend Kim. She then immediately pick up the call. But to her surprise, the moment she open the video call it was her family and not Kim. Emily felt happy and she then suddenly felt that she really missed her family. She look up to stop the tear that is about to fall down from her eyes.
