Chapter 86: Chapter 86

Sienna Quinn knew that once Landon Lawson learned of Evan Quinn’s existence, he would never let it go.

"What’s impossible? My child, acknowledging his heritage, is that wrong? I can give him the best education, the best life, he doesn’t have to wander around with you."

Every word struck Sienna Quinn’s heart. Despite these past years

Despite these past years of Sienna Quinn working tirelessly to take care of Evan Quinn, Evan had indeed endured much hardship staying with her.

If... If Evan could live with Landon Lawson, wouldn’t he have an easier life? But as this thought emerged, Sienna Quinn frantically shook her head. No, her thoughts were truly wrong.

"Chloe is with me; I won’t get him a stepfather. But if he’s with you, you’d surely get him a stepmother. I won’t let my son be unloved."

Sienna’s eyes were unwaveringly determined. Perhaps Evan following him would endure more hardship, but she would wholeheartedly love him. Vera Yates’ mind was extremely deep; if Evan’s existence was discovered by her, the future wouldn’t be easy, and there would definitely be other children between them later. At that time, Vera Yates might not hesitate to harm Evan.

Landon’s hand, after having stopped tapping the table, started again as he suddenly laughed at Sienna’s words, "Who told you I’d get him a stepmother?"

"Landon! Everyone knows about you and Vera Yates. Will you really never marry again for Chloe’s sake?" Sienna’s eyes carried a hint of ridicule; how could a man like Landon truly not marry?

Saying now that he wouldn’t get a stepmother for him is just a temporary solution.

Landon’s smile widened, but for some reason, Sienna felt a tinge of unease. Did he have other means?

Landon suddenly stood up from his chair, approaching Sienna step by step. With the lesson from the rooftop in mind, Sienna crossed her arms defensively in front of her, watching Landon alertly, "What do you want?"

Landon shrugged, "You’re my wife; why would Chloe need a stepmother? I wouldn’t want to commit bigamy."

A hint of amusement flickered in his eyes.

"We’ve divorced. I have nothing to do with you." Sienna said, raising her chin.

"Divorced? When did we divorce? I don’t recall." Landon’s smile grew wider.

Sienna snorted coldly. Is he playing the rascal?

"Five years ago, I left the divorce papers in the villa. You just needed to sign them..." Her voice got quieter until her eyes widened in shock, staring at Landon.

Landon’s otherwise cold face unexpectedly revealed a smile.

"I, Landon Lawson, have never had an ex-wife or a divorce, only a widow. So why should I sign the divorce papers you left behind?"

Sienna’s body stiffened. This situation was unforeseen; she had never thought that a relationship she believed ended five years ago was still legally binding. Why had Landon never cut it off? He hadn’t married her willingly back then, granting him and Vera Yates a chance—yet was he still dissatisfied? Why hadn’t he signed that paperwork?

The woman lowered her head, laughing at herself while shaking her head, "Landon, I really can’t understand you anymore. It was you who didn’t love me, it was you who hurt me, and now it’s you who won’t let go. What do you want?"

Ten years spent chasing him, a decade straight, but what did she get in return? Betrayal, hurt, life sacrifices, children.

One time was enough for such painful lessons.

Unrestrained pain in her eyes. But what is this strange hurt? Could it be that after chasing him for so many years, she’s endured enough?

Wasn’t becoming his wife her lifelong dream? Why leave once achieving it? Cruel enough? For some reason, Landon always felt there was something back then he was unaware of.

The words he initially intended to utter were swallowed back as he witnessed her sorrowful look, a hint of compassion flashing, softening his gaze, "You’re my wife, Chloe is my son. Five years ago when you chose to give birth to him, you must take responsibility. Do you truly wish to deny him his right to a father’s love?"

The sharp stab of those two words jolted Sienna Quinn’s muddled mind clear.

Evan had been clamoring to know who his dad was. Although close as they were, Lana couldn’t provide him father’s love, nor even much of a mother’s affection.

Watching the woman’s hesitant look, Landon continued his pursuit.

"I only want to fulfill the duties of a father. You saw at the parents’ meeting how happy Chloe was when I showed up. I simply can’t imagine how he’s managed these years in kindergarten. Seeing other children with fathers, how would he feel?"

Landon’s heartfelt words struck the softest part of Sienna’s heart. If possible, how could she wish Evan to grow up without a father’s love?

Closing her eyes in pain, her mistake shouldn’t burden a four-year-old child.

When Sienna’s eyes opened again, she had made up her mind.

"I won’t give Chloe to you, but I agree to let you see him." Sienna turned away, not meeting Landon’s eyes. Suddenly, a hand gently rested on her head, lightly tousling her hair. The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the novel fire.net

Sienna’s body stiffened. He... what was he doing?

In surprise, she looked up at the man before her. Their eyes met, and Landon’s gaze was somewhat tender, "These years, leaving Chloe with you alone was my oversight. It won’t happen again."

Gentle, loving words continually collided with her chest, her heart trembling uncontrollably, her hand held over it to keep that restless heart from leaping out.

There was a hint of struggle in her eyes.

"Landon Lawson, is this how you deceive women?"

The crisp sound of a slap parted the hand on her head, Sienna stood up, the sneer on her lips made Landon feel unfamiliar.

"I only want Chloe to have a complete childhood. Do you think there’s any chance between us? Even if you don’t sign the divorce papers, I’ll find a way to divorce you."

Picking up her bag, she walked towards the door.

As her hand touched the doorknob, she stumbled unexpectedly, falling heavily into the man’s embrace behind her.

A soft body, like being boneless, trapped tightly in his arms, the familiar yet unfamiliar scent of cologne overwhelmed her senses, dizzying Sienna Quinn.

Landon turned her body around, their gazes locked, taking in her small face as emotions within him surged.
