Chapter 85: Chapter 85
Landon Lawson raised an eyebrow. The moment this man opened his mouth, he inquired about Sienna Quinn, with almost every sentence revolving around her. Could it be that he had ulterior motives regarding her?
His eyes gradually narrowed, and his cold lips pressed into a thin line.
"Only when both parties have signed the divorce agreement is it considered a divorce." His teasing smile made people feel uneasy. For more chapters visit novel★fire.net
Todd Lowell was slightly taken aback. Could it be...?
Seeing the teasing at the corners of the man’s mouth, Todd Lowell had a rough guess in his heart. It seemed that the relationship between these two was not as simple as he had thought.
As an experienced lawyer well-versed in marriage law, since Landon Lawson said so, it meant that legally, the two were still married.
"Daddy!" Chloe waved her little hand towards Todd Lowell in a sweet voice, her cute little face looking quite beautiful.
Todd Lowell squatted down, holding the soft little body of Chloe, who came running towards him.
Chloe hugged his face and planted a kiss on it.
With Chloe in his arms, Todd Lowell paused his stride as he passed by Landon Lawson, then spoke: "Even though you two are still married, as long as she wants a divorce, I’ll definitely help her achieve it."
"It seems you really want us to divorce, but I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed." Landon Lawson shrugged and smiled faintly.
Landon Lawson turned and left, thinking he’d like to see if this man dared to make a move on his woman.
Danielle Carter arrived at the entrance of the kindergarten, suspiciously scratched her head as she looked at a car in the distance: "That seemed like Landon Lawson’s car just now."
She rubbed her eyes vigorously, thinking perhaps she had seen wrong, and then left after picking up Evan Quinn.
However, Evan Quinn did not inform Sienna Quinn about meeting Landon Lawson this time. An invisible tacit understanding remained between the two.
Two days later, Sienna Quinn received a letter from a lawyer. Looking at the words on it, her blood seemed to run cold.
Sean Carter came in holding the latest documents and noticed Sienna’s pale face. "What’s wrong? Judging by your expression, did something serious happen?"
Sienna Quinn looked up, her eyes filled with helplessness and panic.
That look startled the man. Since he had known her, it was the first time he saw such an expression on Sienna’s face.
"Landon Lawson wants to fight for custody of Chloe."
Sienna’s lips were pale. It was just as she feared. What she feared most right now, undoubtedly, was anything to do with Evan Quinn.
Sean Carter placed the documents in his hand on the table and curbed his usual carefree manner: "Don’t worry. There must be a solution. If you panic now, it will play right into Landon Lawson’s hands."
Sienna Quinn reached out, gently patting her chest, trying to calm herself.
"No, I absolutely won’t give Chloe to him." Her eyes were filled with determination. Chloe was her entire emotional support. Without her, Sienna might not have made it through the past five years.
"Actually, the gap between you two is not something you can bridge right now. If Landon Lawson fights for custody, you don’t stand a chance of winning."
Sean Carter spoke calmly and objectively.
"So, if you want to keep Chloe, you’ll need to negotiate with Landon Lawson."
"Negotiate? You want me to negotiate with Landon Lawson?"
Sean Carter nodded seriously. Right now, negotiating with Landon Lawson seemed the only option left.
Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she quickly rummaged through a drawer.
"What are you looking for?" Sean Carter asked, full of curiosity.
Sienna Quinn held up a business card in her hand and smiled at Sean Carter: "Finally found it. This is my ace in the hole."
Sean Carter looked curiously at the business card. It boldly displayed the name of the top lawyer, Todd Lowell.
The tapping sound of fingers drumming on the desk echoed in the silent room—a sound that was unusually clear and grating with its rhythm following the beat of a heart.
Landon Lawson withdrew his articulate fingers, watching Sienna Quinn with interest and glancing briefly at Todd Lowell standing behind her, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Why did you suddenly want to meet me?"
"President Lawson, surely you know the actions you take?" Sienna sneered, placing the lawyer’s letter on the table and sliding it over to Landon Lawson.
"Does President Quinn always need to bring someone with you when you go out, or don’t you trust me?" Landon Lawson laughed coldly. He was initially pleased to see Sienna Quinn today, but upon seeing Todd Lowell, all of his good mood disappeared.
Sienna and Todd exchanged a look, and she felt slightly reassured from finding Todd’s card, at least alleviating her feeling of being lost and aimless.
When Todd received Sienna’s call, he was genuinely surprised that she would reach out to him.
"Attorney Todd Lowell, it seems I need your help," she said.
"How can I assist you?" Todd Lowell had a mix of concern and a hint of delight when Sienna Quinn called. He worried about what might have happened to her but was secretly glad she sought him out.
With just a few interactions, he found himself drawn to the unique aura she exuded. And hearing from Chloe that Sienna was a single mother brought him some joy, thinking at least he had a chance.
"I need to fight for custody of Chloe."
Looking at Landon Lawson sitting across from him, Todd Lowell offered an introduction: "Although we’ve met a few times before, given the change in our dynamics, let me formally introduce myself. I’m Todd Lowell, Sienna Quinn’s attorney."
Landon Lawson squinted, his indifferent gaze fixed on Todd Lowell: "What difference does it make if you’re an attorney? You should know that if this case goes to court, you don’t stand much chance. So the purpose today is only to mediate with me."
Landon Lawson’s lips curled upwards. He didn’t have to hold back like Sienna Quinn.
His gaze fixed intently on Sienna’s eyes: "I know why you’re here. Since this involves Chloe, why not just talk to me? Unrelated parties should probably leave."
The implication was clear as he referred to Todd Lowell, who glanced at Sienna.
The woman gently pursed her lips. In truth, Todd had already advised her before coming today that their chances of winning the case were slim. When facing overwhelming power , ordinary families like them couldn’t compete.
Sienna nodded at Todd, who then left the room.
When it was just the two of them left, Sienna took a deep breath, gazing intently at Landon Lawson: "So, what exactly do you want?"
"What I want is simple. I want my son, a child of the Lawson Family."
