Chapter 84: Chapter 84
It couldn’t be Miles Grant, that man has always been madly in love with her, how could he betray her?
In an instant, all the doubts erupted in her heart.
"Don’t be so tense, I was just joking earlier, not all my jokes are true, right?" A playful smile hung on her face, and the gaze that could see through everything made Vera Yates feel terrified.
Vera paused for a moment, using an awkward smile to cover her inner unease, "How could it be true?"
Sienna Quinn pushed the voice recorder in front of Vera, grabbed her small hand, and placed it in her palm, "This is a gift for you, make sure to keep it safe. After all, don’t you try every means to snatch everything related to Landon Lawson?"
Vera watched as the recorder was placed in her palm.
The woman gave her a bright smile, picked up her backpack, and left.
Vera watched Sienna’s departing figure, clutching the recorder tightly, gritting her teeth and said, "Sienna Quinn... Landon Lawson can only be mine."
She took out her phone and dialed a number, "What about the thing I asked you to investigate last time? What’s the matter with that child?"
"I just saw President Lawson take the child away."
"What? Stephen took the child away?"
Vera hung up the phone. Why would he take the child away? What exactly is the identity of that child?
A pair of tender little fists clenched tightly.
This whole morning was delayed by Landon Lawson and Vera, and by the time she arrived at the company, it was almost lunchtime.
A pile of accumulated food, and as she worked, she completely forgot about lunch, not even hearing when Axel Yates pushed the door open.
Axel looked at the woman engrossed in work, and coughed softly, "An employee working so hard makes me, as the boss, feel gratified, but no matter what, you need to eat. Otherwise, if you fall ill from hunger, wouldn’t people say I’m mistreating my staff?"
Sienna looked up and saw Axel bringing in two lunch boxes, placing them on the table, smiling at her.
"I don’t want to be reprimanded, so I came to have lunch with you. After all, people from far-off France have pestering skills that are terrifying."
Sienna sat on the swivel chair, smiling as she accepted the lunch Axel brought.
"If you hadn’t reminded me, I would’ve forgotten I haven’t had lunch yet." The two chatted idly.
"You don’t need to rush with the HR Group matters, the board has seen the news and knows you were wronged."
"Thank you for trusting me so much."
Sienna suddenly looked up, her beautiful eyes curved into a line, her pearly white teeth showing a silly grin; at this moment, Sienna didn’t have the appearance of an elite.
There was still a grain of white rice at the corner of her mouth, making her appear playful and cute.
"I know you well enough, and besides, you and Landon Lawson are no longer married. Even if you were, with your character, you wouldn’t do such things."
Sienna giggled, in front of Axel, she felt more like his sister; ever since entering the Yates Group, she’s been protected at all times.
A hand reached over and removed the grain of rice from her mouth, gently ruffling her hair.
Sienna paused, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
After they finished lunch, Axel suddenly remembered, "I’m going abroad this afternoon, just for a few days."
"Abroad? I’ve only just returned, and you’ve already gone abroad twice. You used to not travel overseas more than four times a year. Is international business that busy now?" Sienna asked suspiciously, as Axel didn’t frequently leave the country in the past. For more chapters visit novel•fire.net
Axel paused for a moment, then chuckled, his eyes narrowing into a line, "Aren’t you back now? My contacts abroad aren’t as strong as your abilities, so it’s tough on me, the boss."
Axel shrugged helplessly.
Sienna paused; wasn’t Chiara Thorne managing the French branch after she left? Sienna knew her capabilities, not inferior to hers, so why did Axel seem so busy?
Axel left after speaking; although Sienna was puzzled, she didn’t dwell on it.
"What time is it?" Evan Quinn suddenly asked.
"Three in the afternoon."
"Take me back to the kindergarten! Danielle will come to pick me up later, and if Mommy finds out you took me away, she’ll be angry." With a domineering little CEO demeanor, Landon Lawson’s brows furrowed.
With arms crossed, he looked at the little kid eating a burger, sneering, "Do you really think I’m your driver?"
Evan put down the burger in his hand, took a napkin like a gentleman, and wiped the corner of his mouth, sat up straight, his dark eyes turning as he said, "For five years, you haven’t fulfilled the responsibilities of a husband or father. What’s wrong with asking you to take me back to the kindergarten?"
The little kid raised his good-looking eyebrows, his mouth curling into a roguish smile, an expression that mirrored Landon Lawson’s.
Though it was a rebellious phrase, it struck a chord with Landon Lawson.
He wasn’t wrong, in these five years, Landon Lawson hadn’t done anything for this mother and child duo. Even if Evan had more outrageous demands, Landon would certainly meet them.
He picked up the car keys and said to Evan, "Get in!"
Evan’s smile of triumph widened as he followed behind him, running to keep up.
After taking Evan back to the kindergarten, Landon watched as Teacher Cole took the little tyke inside. Luckily, he returned before Danielle Carter arrived.
Looking at Chloe’s retreating figure, a faint smile appeared on his lips.
This feeling of having a wife and children wasn’t bad at all.
"But... some compensation is needed." The issue is that Sienna might still be a problem; she wouldn’t let him approach Evan that easily.
For some reason, she held a grudge against him.
Even though she was the one who left back then, who wanted the divorce too, why does it feel as if he was the one at fault?
The man’s brows furrowed together, it seemed like he had to use some means.
A man’s voice broke the silence, and Landon turned his head to see a man standing beside him.
The latter extended his hand, saying, "Hello, I’m Chloe’s dad, Todd Lowell."
Landon squinted at this man, an inexplicable hostility welling up inside, and ignored the man’s outstretched palm, coldly saying, "Landon Lawson."
"I know it’s President Lawson, I’ve never met you in person, but I’ve seen the news," Todd Lowell said with a smile, unfazed by Landon’s cold reception.
Todd Lowell’s gaze was assessing as he looked at Landon, pondering a bit before speaking, "I heard from my daughter that Evan is from a single-parent family, raised by his mother alone, President Lawson you..."
"So it seems the two of you are really divorced."
Todd Lowell said to himself, a slight smile playing on his lips. But that smile changed flavors in Landon’s eyes, and he immediately understood.
