Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Due to that television interview, the matter once again came to a close, and Vera Yates became Landon Lawson’s official girlfriend, while Sienna Quinn became a thing of the past, with no more connections between them.
However, Sienna Quinn was now entirely focused on the meeting with HR Group tomorrow. Everyone had been working overtime all night to perfect the final plan.
"Tonight is the last presentation of the plan with HR Group, so rest well during the day, be full of energy, and win a beautiful victory," Sienna said with a bright smile to everyone in front of her, the outcome to be decided tomorrow.
Because everyone had been working overtime the night before, even Evan Quinn slept at the company. Seeing the adorable little boy, Sienna often felt guilty towards Evan.
At this age, he should be a beloved child at home, but now he’s staying up late working overtime with Sienna. Thɪs chapter is updated by novelfire.net
Early in the morning, Danielle Carter took Evan to have breakfast and go to kindergarten. Along the way, Evan sat quietly in the passenger seat, not saying a word, while Danielle occasionally glanced at the little guy beside her.
"Did something happen at the kindergarten? Why do you seem unhappy?"
Evan gently shook his head, "Danielle, do you have a dad?"
"Of course I do. When I was little, I always sat on my dad’s shoulders and saw everything from up high..." Danielle’s smile froze on her face, and she coughed lightly, realizing how could she mention a dad in front of Evan?
What kind of feeling is it for a child who has never experienced fatherly love to ask about it on his own?
Evan got out of the car and waved his chubby hand at Danielle, "No need to blame yourself, I just haven’t experienced it, and I want to know what it’s like to have a dad, I’m off to school."
With that, he walked in with his little backpack.
Watching Evan’s tiny figure, Danielle sighed a little heartbrokenly, feeling worried about such a well-behaved child having to endure this without crying or complaining.
Hearing the car leaving behind him, Evan looked back at the departing Danielle and sighed deeply. Since yesterday, he began to dislike going to kindergarten, hating to hear the kids talk about how he has no daddy.
"There’s no love like a father’s love, those with fathers are treasures," Nate said, watching as a mother led her child to kindergarten, immediately spotting Evan standing at the entrance.
Evan frowned, face looking notably unpleasant, glaring intensely at Nate.
Nate instinctively took a step back, eyes filled with terror, while the middle-aged woman beside him sneered, "What a coward, just standing there by himself, what is there to be afraid of?"
Encouraged by his mother, Nate said with a falsely brave front, "You don’t even know who your dad is, your mom must have gotten pregnant out of wedlock."
Evan’s little hand clenched into a small fist, suppressing his anger, his pristine teeth biting hard on his lip.
"I... I have a dad!" Evan shouted in Nate’s direction.
But Nate’s mother just snorted dismissively, "Then who is your dad? Can you even say?"
Evan bit his lip. His dad is Landon Lawson, but can he really say that?
Sienna kept it hidden for five years to ensure no one knew about him.
Two years ago, Evan first saw Sienna completely drunk out of her mind, though she had become a master at drinking, it was rare for her to be that out of it.
Evan only remembers that night when Sienna was bent over the toilet, face covered in tears, mumbling Landon Lawson’s name, which was the first time Evan learned of Landon’s existence.
From then on, he understood that mentioning his dad was forbidden, and the woman of that night, crying like her heart was breaking, linked or something to his biological father.
"Are you only going to use words against such insults?" A clear, cold voice interrupted Evan’s thoughts, and turning around, he found a well-dressed man in a black suit, standing beside him, devoid of warmth.
Evan’s gaze was dazed as he looked at Landon Lawson. Why was he here?
Landon lowered his head, looking down at Evan who was staring up at him, face full of innocence, with large, watery eyes inherited from Sienna’s pure and clean features, though the brows and eyes matched his, yet the spirited look was so much like Sienna.
Initially, seated in a car across the street, Landon saw Danielle dropping Evan off at kindergarten. He intended to leave, but upon witnessing this scene, though he hadn’t heard the words spoken, seeing Evan’s suppressed demeanor, Landon couldn’t bring himself to walk away. He moved in to hear what was said, their pointing fingers almost bringing his anger to a boil.
Over the years, few had made him so angry.
Sienna was one, and the person insulting Evan was another.
The woman looked at Landon’s sudden appearance, froze for a moment, and surveyed him up and down. The man in front of her was exceptionally cool and handsome,
but felt oddly familiar, yet she couldn’t quite place why.
The woman straightened her chest, her face a mix of hues, "Just little children playing around, what’s worth bringing up to you, someone’s age like yours, you still minding such things with a child?"
The woman put on an unreasonable and ignorant demeanor, obviously not willing to admit that what Nate said was taught at home.
"Oh? So, what a child says doesn’t count?"
"Of course not, such a small child, and you take it so seriously," she said, hugging Nate tightly, carefully inspecting Landon, and suddenly noticed the resemblance between the two, almost as if made from the same mold.
Could this man be Evan’s father?
With such a bold conjecture, the woman withdrew her neck slightly, inquiring, wasn’t it said that Sienna was a single mother? How did such a man suddenly appear?
"I didn’t know shamelessness could be so justified," Landon stood beside Evan, reaching out to ruffle the little boy’s hair, deliberately messing it up, a small smile on his lips, growing ever more fond.
Evan pouted slightly, unsatisfied, why was he like Mom, enjoying ruffling hair so much?
"Giving you a chance, aren’t you going to retort? Didn’t you inherit your mom’s sharp tongue? If this continues, I’ll start to doubt whether you’re truly Sienna’s biological son."
