Chapter 61: Chapter 61

"Still just someone else’s lackey, huh?" Clara Quinn sneered with a smile.

But Sienna Quinn waved a finger in front of the woman: "At least here, this lackey has more say than you."

With that, she picked up the phone and dialed: "Security? There’s someone causing trouble here, please escort her out."

As soon as she finished speaking, she hung up and crossed her arms, looking at Clara, who glared at her furiously with a dark expression: "Who do you think you are? Trying to kick me out?"

Sienna shrugged, and in less than three minutes, the security arrived.

Clara sat on the sofa, arms crossed, a mocking smile playing on her lips as she watched the approaching security guards.

"I’m the daughter of the president of the Quinn Group, do you dare to throw me out? Have you even looked at yourselves?"

The security exchanged glances, slightly puzzled, then surrounded Clara without another word.

"We don’t know who you are, but this isn’t the Quinn Group. We get our paychecks from the Yates Group, so please leave quickly."

Clara put her hands on her hips, full of rage, ready to go after them in the next moment as if she could kill them, but she reconsidered when she saw their well-trained physiques.

Turning her head, she glared venomously at Sienna, her face a deep shade of anger: "Sienna, aren’t you afraid that once you kick me out, the Yates Group won’t cooperate with the Quinn Group anymore? Do you really think Axel Yates will protect you?" Follow current novᴇls on N0v3l.Fiɾe.net

Sienna paused, then mockingly crossed her arms, "For people of our standing, we should know better. There’s no such thing as genuine feelings; it’s all driven by interests. You don’t honestly think Axel Yates would risk estrangement with the Quinn Group for you, do you?"

A light cough interrupted their conversation. A man, feeling somewhat awkward, cleared his throat and scratched his head sheepishly as he looked at the large group of people before him: "I’m sorry to interrupt your ladies’ talk, but since I’m involved, I have no choice but to step in."

Axel Yates smiled faintly, the previous awkwardness gone, and looked elegantly toward Clara Quinn: "I’m the Axel Yates you mentioned."

Clara was slightly flabbergasted, not expecting him to appear here. She swayed shyly, "I... I’m Clara Quinn, daughter of the president of the Quinn Group."

"I know, there’s no need for such a detailed introduction." Axel Yates smiled gently.

Beside him, Sienna Quinn chuckled, as Clara was just the same as ever, unable to control her star-struck expression upon seeing a handsome man.

"If I remember correctly, the Yates Group is my company, Sienna is someone I’ve hired, so officially, this is my territory. Hence, when I’m not around, whatever Sienna says goes for me."

Axel’s smile faded as he turned to the security personnel, who all responded in unison as he nodded approvingly: "You haven’t executed President Quinn’s directive yet."

The guards approached Clara, extending a hand: "Please leave, Miss."

Clara couldn’t believe that Axel Yates would side with Sienna, preferring to oppose the Quinn Group. Was Sienna more important than business?

"President Yates, do you know what you’re saying?"

"Of course, I do. As for the cooperation you mentioned, I thought about it and decided against it. There are plenty of companies like the Quinn Group for me to choose from." He extended his hand gentlemanly as he spoke.

Clara stomped her foot in frustration, glaring daggers at Sienna as she left.

Clara was the same as before, unable to hold back her emotions, unlike Vera Yates, who had a different level of combat ability altogether.

People like her, who are straightforward, are the easiest to deal with.

After finally getting rid of this nuisance, Sienna turned her head, "When did you come back? Why didn’t you give us a heads-up?"

"I wanted to surprise you, to see if anyone was slacking off."

"Rest assured, President Yates, I will secure the HR Group deal."

Axel Yates smiled lightly, glad to have such a capable assistant.

Looking at the elated woman before him, Axel grew a bit worried. He knew what had happened during his absence, which explained Stephen’s strong reaction at the White Palace Hotel that day. It turned out there was such a tangled enmity among the three of them.

Sienna paused, sighing helplessly: "President Yates, if you’re fantasizing and wanting to watch the drama, you better curb your expressions; it’s too conspicuous."

Axel awkwardly touched his face, "Is it that obvious?"

Sienna pursed her lips and nodded regrettably. How could it not be?

"Miss Vance, we did well this time, didn’t we? We should collaborate more often in the future." The TV station director said with a smile.

"You did excellent this time. Working with you is indeed hassle-free." Vera Yates lightly sipped her coffee, her charming eyes curving into a beautiful line.

The additional two questions on today’s event card were specifically instructed by Vera to elicit that answer from Landon Lawson.

Those comments were made for her and the entire audience, especially Sienna Quinn, to hear.

To let her know that the man was no longer hers.

"But, won’t this upset President Lawson? I noticed his face didn’t look very good from backstage." The director discreetly gauged Vera, trying to discern something from her expression.

This woman went to great lengths to hear it directly from Landon Lawson, due to insecurities perhaps? It seemed the rumor about the ex-wife was true.

Vera Yates smiled faintly and said slowly: "Of course not. Stephen and I have always been close, and it’s only a matter of time before we’re married. The previous news was just that—past news, and it’s best left in the past."

"Someone as outstanding as you, Miss Vance, would be cherished by any man, especially since the other woman is just an ex-wife, a thing of the past, so there’s nothing to worry about."

The director grinned lightly.

"I hope for pleasant cooperation in the future, as there will be more opportunities to work together."

Vera Yates wore a sly smile as a wave of resentment welled up inside her.

"Sienna, since you love showing off and want everyone to know you’re around, then let me help you out. Consider this free publicity, don’t thank me."
