Chapter 111: Chapter 111
Now that the place was lively, Zixin also had to perform his duties as a librarian. He had to ensure that no noise was made in the library, record all books borrowed which was free but replicating a book came at a cost, ten points for every book replicated. And Zixin now had to live in the library because this place doesn’t close and stays open 24/7.
Zixin had his little reception desk with the replicating machine not far from him. His eyes were closed, obviously in deep sleep but no one came to wake him up or bother him. There weren’t a lot of people in the library, especially the ground floor where it was just general information. Only students who came from poor backgrounds but had talent came here but quickly got bored and left.
Only Evan was truly hungry for knowledge. He came to the library every day with Jersse following behind him like a good butler. While others were listening to lectures, Evan was at the library. Sometimes, he would look at Zixin but every time he came, Zixin was asleep. Another person who frequented the library was a teenage boy who seemed to know everything but also knew nothing which was very strange.
The books he loved to read were history books and he would be completely engrossed in these books that he would go on for days without eating or sleeping, like reading books was enough to live him full for a long time.
Just like that, four months passed and Zixin still spent most of his time sleeping. Since he wasn’t allowed on the 2nd Floor and the Library Spirit kept a close eye on him, he didn’t do anything suspicious or out of the ordinary and all his insects that needed to advance had advanced and those that needed to evolve had evolved.
[Ding! Congratulations to Host for successfully capturing Rank 2 Aura Suppression attack.×1] Sounded the System Notification in Zixin’s mind and he instantly woke up. Just as Zixin was internally shocked, more System Notifications sounded out in his mind.
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for capturing punches! ×12]
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for capturing kicks.×15]
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for capturing slap attacks. ×3]
It clearly wasn’t Zixin who was being attacked and neither was it his maggots since they all perished so the only option left was that it was one of his Vassals.
’So even the Vassals and capture and accumulate attacks for him, great!’ said Zixin inwardly. His mood had completely improved and he was even smiling foolishly which was 2rare sight for the students. This was how the rumour of the crazy librarian started.
’More Vassals, I need more Vassals!’ thought Zixin but he wouldn’t hastily take action. He had to be patient and careful otherwise a single mistake could lead to his demise. It was then that he activated his Compound eyes and checked the Compatibility % the students had but it was disappointing. Their Compatibility was 15% or below.
Just then, Evan and his butler entered the and Zixin involuntarily looked at him and was pleasantly surprised. Evan had a Compatibility of 30% and after him, the history loving teen entered the library and his Compatibility was 45%.
’Not bad. To have a Compatibility higher than that of William’s is not bad.’ thought Zixin.
’But it’s not enough. I think I should also shift my focus to the Mara Clan. They are more suitable to become my Vassals.’ thought Zixin.
This time, he no longer fell asleep but stayed awake the whole day, checking the Compatibility of all the students who entered the library.
It was now around midnight and the library was completely empty and silent, the history loving boy had also left early today with a slightly disappointed look. Zixin was just sitting there, bored out of his mind. It was because of this boredom that he decided to attempt going to the 2nd Floor to see what would happen. Even now, his Compound eyes were still activated so he could see the wary look of the Library Spirit as it followed him.
Zixin walked up the stairs to the 2nd Floor where there was a transparent barrier blocking him from accessing it. Only authorised personnel could pass the barrier with a special token. Zixin extended his left hand to touch the barrier, he wanted to see if his Sealing power could work on the barrier but something completely different occurred.
When he touched the barrier, the Tortoise Spirit attacked him but then his bronze ring glowed and released a Rune that slammed on the tortoise’s head and imprinted itself on the tortoise’s head. After the tortoise had been marked, the barrier opened a gap for Zixin to pass through. The ring then transferred information to Zixin’s mind and it told him that the Artefact Spirit was now completely under his control. There was even a remark left behind.
[How dare a mere Spirit stand in the way of a Seeker of Knowledge! There’s no place a Knowledge Seeker can’t go where’s the knowledge to be found.]
’How domineering. There’s no place a Knowledge Seeker can’t go where’s the knowledge to be found, I like the sound of that.’
Zixin never expected that this seemingly ordinary ring had such extraordinary functions. He entered the barrier but didn’t read the books, just took all the books on a nearby shelf and replicated all of them then took out his Rank 3 Bookworms to devour these replicas.
Zixin repeated this process every night until all the books were replicated and in his mind, then he did the same thing on the 3rd and 4th Floor. By the time he reached the 5th Floor, a month had passed. Now, Zixin had 50% of all the knowledge in this library and knew many things that he didn’t know before. Now, his goal was to assimilate all the knowledge in the library, only then will he continue living his ordinary and boring life of just sitting and doing nothing for the whole day. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵~𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖~𝙣𝙚𝙩
