Chapter 32: Chapter 32
More than a month and its over, ended with no conversation happened between Ashy and Storm. He didn't bother to irritate her. If he ever talks about it, it's just about work and nothing else. She thanked him for that. Inside her she though, he might be tired of teasing her. Maybe he realized that it wouldn't change Ashy's mind anymore.
Paul also came home from a meeting and obviously missed her.
When he entered the office, he came across swollen flowers surrounding her area. He made her cry when she saw her boyfriend holding a flower.
"I'm back. Hmmmmm!!... I miss you so much. " He handed her the flower and kissed her on the cheek.
She saw in the other room that Storm was staring at them, and his face was very dark. Like jealousy registered in it.
"It's good that you're back. I missed you too so much. I thought you forgot about me." Her answer is supposed to be sullen.
"Its okay, no worries? You know, we're about to get married, so we need to prepare for the future. Ohh before I forget, I have something for you. " He entered his office and then he took something inside hos office. When he get back he holds a rectangular box.
"What is that?" Ashy asked him in surprise.
"This is my gift for you." He handed it to her.
Ashy handed it to him and opened it.
She was just amazed to see the contents of the box.
A necklace with a diamond pendant. Obviously, its price is not a joke. It 9s even risky to use it in public.
"Hon, I'm sorry. I can't be silly. Where will I use it?" She was about to return the box to him but he refused silly.
"Hon, you're going to use that on our wedding day. That day is important and I want all the details to be important. So as the value of that necklace. You deserve that. You deserve everything. So whatever the value of that is, it's still worth it to me. " He smiled then kissed her forehead.
"I thought you forgot about our wedding. Because of your time there, it's a good thing there's someone in-charge of our wedding. I don't know what to do." she answered him and then hid the necklace.
"I'm sorry hon. Don't worry, I'll take back my promise." It even raised his hand to show his sincerity.
"Just a joke, I'm just kidding. I know you won't take our wedding for granted." Ashy's tenderness.
She could clearly see how angry Storm was with the two of them. She deliberately brought her face closer to Paul's to make him even angrier.
"So how are you here in the office? I mean, isn't Storm torturing you? It's a bit mischievous because you know, I don't need to mention it." He frankly asked.
She was suddenly guilty of what Paul said.
"It's not, hon. We work with him as professional here. He's kind anyway. But of course you're still kinder." Her affection for him shows.
He smiled at her and then hugged her.
"Hon, so let's meet later, huh? I'll take you home. I also need to talk to Storm." He said goodbye and kissed her on the forehead.
It has already entered the inside. She intentionally changed the order of her swivel chair so that she could not see the two.
Some time later, Jem came to get back to the papers she left, but of course, it would definitely be to chat with her.
"So finally he's back. How is that, you're not safe? You're really going to get married. Won't you change your mind?" She sat in front of her with a smirk.
"Nothing should change Jem, so whatever the plan before he leaves will still remain as it is. I'm serious there and nothing can be changed. If what you're thinking is Storm and me, it's been a long time and it passed.. We don't have to worry anymore. Asking me about it, I won't let my past affect anything I have with Paul now. " she replied seriously to the friend.
However, her friend was still not convinced by what she said. She knew her from head to toe, in and out. She knew that since then, Storm had always been in her heart. She never thought to change him or even to replace him until Paul arrived.
"Would you be angry if I spoke?" Jem questioned her.
"Why should I be angry, sissy? Everyone is free to speak. I don't think we'll be imprisoned if we speak, right?" Sje asked her back.
"So let me speak. Sometimes I'm going to tell you this and I won't repeat it again. It's up to you if you're going to take it positively or not. Getting married is not as easy as it is said to be. When you marry someone with your whole being, You are completely devoted, and he is someone you will accept fully, whether there are shortcomings or excesses in him. Do you love him completely? " she asked her a meaningful question.
She stared at her friend, then looked down.
"I love him. I don't want to hurt him. When it comes to totality, as time goes on, I know that I will love him completely. I know that the time will come and I will learn to turn my world around him. I hope you are happy for me as you always wanted to be. This is what you want, isn't it? You even approached him. Why do I feel like you want to change my mind? " she stood up to pick up a folder that they would use in the meeting.
"Yes, I was wrong there. I did that because I thought Storm would never come back. I never thought his wife would die that fast. I thought there was really no hope that the two of you will be together again. But now I see hope that you and Storm will end up havibg each other and I know you'll be hapoy then. "
"That's right Jem. I won't change my mind either. Even if you keep reminding me how much I loved him then. That was before, Jem. It's different now. I won't hurt Paul, who did nothing but love and understand me. I don't have to repeat these words to you. " That's all and she has arranged herself.
She goes to where Paul and Storm are to pick up the papers Jem needs.
The two seemed to be talking seriously when she got the papers, and she came out immediately.
She handed them to Jem and she immediately returned to her work.
Ashy didn't know what to do. She was hesitant to tell Paul the truth. She did not know how Paul would react when he learned that his brother had intervened.
Later, it came out of the office. Storm was left inside as they obviously didn't have a good conversation.
"How are you? "he asked as he sat down next to her.
"Storm wanted to leave, but I stopped him. He can't leave, especially now taht our wedding is near. I'll make it even harder for him to convince him just to stay. " An explanation of this.
Ashy can't understand why his brother is still here for their wedding. They also do not get along.
"Maybe he has something important to do in the US, hon, why don't you just allow him? We can make it even better and memorable one even if he's not right?" She tried to convince him to just get rid of Storm.
Ashy has a feeling that she can tell the truth at any time. She can say everything just to stop their marriage.
"Of course, I need someone to be with me on my wedding day. The one who will take me to the altar. I can't be the only one. It's good that your mother is there." The reasoning behind it atleast there is a point to this. The sadness of getting married is that you don't even have a relative by your side.
She then remembered her dad. How he was told then to fight what she was feeling. How must she be brave to face any trial in her love life?
"Anyway, it's good if you convince him. We may never know later he won't be here in the Philippines anymore." Ashy joked.
"Then I really made sure he couldn't take off. Can he fly without wings?" Smiling answers it.
"What did you do?" Ashy said that she was obviously worried about it.
"Of course can you leave the country if you don't have a passport? Of course not." He replied that he just laughed at what he did.
"Hon, did you do that? It's good if he will not to be angry?" Ashy asked, then covered her mouth with her palm.
"He has no choice, hon. He will stay whether he likes it or not. No matter what else he does, I will not give him his passport until our marriage is over. " He said serious and tough words in front of his girlfriend.
Ashy just laughed. She didn't know that there was also a prank hiding in it. Despite her smiles, there is a hidden fear that the truth may be set to come out. She could no longer stop it. When this would happen, she did not know, and she was not sure of the coming days.
"Ohh you're quiet," Paul commented while holding her hand.
"Ohh don't mind me hon, I was just thinking about our wedding." Another excuse. Another lie.
