Chapter 22: Chapter 22

Marcus had always been proud of himself for resisting temptations. When he and Brian had worked for celebrities and other powerful people, he had never been tempted to steal from them, and his will and ability to control himself were strong. But as he tried not to stare at Jane laying beside him half naked he knew he had failed. He had failed since she changed from the clothes she wore this morning to a Bikini.

He lay there pretending to read a magazine while his heart was beating hard and his binga threatening to erupt.

Jane on the other hand seemed calm to know someone was beside her. Her eyes were closed, and even though she was still and peaceful Marcus knew she hadn't fallen asleep. He groaned softly and crossed his legs again.

"Are you okay?" Jane asked, her eyes still closed, her peace undisrupted.

"Yeah, of cause," he mumbled.

Jane opened her eyes and sat straight. "You've been twitching and turning like a worm, does the sun bother you or do you just not know how to stay quiet?"

Marcus sighed. "I just think you should get some clothes on." He mumbled still not sitting straight or uncrossing his legs.

Jane raised her eyebrows confused. "Why will I want to wear clothes on a sunny day on the beach?"

Marcus sighed heavily this time. "If I tell you will you do it?"

Jane shrugged. "That's my decision to make."

"Arh," Marcus groaned. "Please promise not to laugh or criticise or unfriend me or at worst fire me?"

"Marcus Connelly, that is my decision to make not yours."

Marcus groan again he stared at her for a while and mumbled something intelligent to himself. He slowly uncrossed his legs.

"Holy shit!" Jane yelled, drawing the attention of others around.

Marcus quickly crossed his legs back, found a pillow, and buried his face in it.

Jane laid back down, eyes wide open, mind and heart racing aimlessly.

Marcus had removed the pillow from his face but still has his legs crossed.

"So you're telling me I did that?" She asked after 15 minutes of silence between them.

"Yes," Marcus replied.

"Wow," Jane thought out loud. "So maybe I really should put some clothes on,"

"Yeah, you should,

Jane left and after a few minutes she came back with double baggy sweaters and double sweatpants on."Are you okay now?" She asked, standing in front of him.

"Yeah," Marcus replied, sitting up. "I think I am better."

"How do I look?"

Marcus looked at her and frowned. "I am sorry I am making you do all this." He apologised.

"Yeah, yeah, no problem," Jane said, fanning herself. "I just need to survive in this thing without suffocating." She mumbled.

Marcus stood and faced her. "How about we go for a swim?"

"No,"

Marcus raised his eyebrows confused. "Why not?"

"Because I do not want to." Just answered folding her arms

"Are you scared?"

Jane did not respond.

Marcus smiled softly, he took the pieces of hair that dangle in front of her face and tugged them behind her ear. "Friends are allowed to do that right?" He whispered in her face.

"I guess," she replied, her voice barely a whisper. Right there and then Jane knew, she knew she should not have listened to her father, he should have fought against his plan to make Marcus her bodyguard. Now he would cause a lot of trouble. He was slowly breaking her walls, he was trying to steal her heart and she wasn't sure for how long she could stop him anymore.

"Have anyone told you you are beautiful today?"

"Not recently," Jane breathed.

"Jane– Boss Jane Morrison, you are beautiful."

"Thank you," she mouthed, not sure if she could speak at the moment.

Without warning, Marcus cupped Jane into his arms and raced to the glistering water.

After hours of amazing moments, they decided it was time to drive back home.

The driver Mr. Flaz seems to notice the change between Jane and Marcus, so he okay old live music and drive slowly.

"So tell me, does your, er.. you know what I mean." She gave him a hard look. He nodded. "Does it always go like that always?"

Marcus beamed. "I thought you said you were not obsessed with it?"

Jane frowned. "Forget I ever asked." She mumbled folding her arms on her laps.

Marcus threw his arm on her shoulder. "It doesn't, that is just the effect you have on me." He replied.

"For real?"

"Yes, for real?"

Marcus still had his arm wrapped around Jane's shoulder. They fell silent enjoying the moment, the music, the ride, the electricity their was generating. When a black BMW 760Li High Security came from behind to hit them.

"What on earth is that?" Marcus yelled at the driver.

"I am not sure sir but I think someone is trying to kill us."

The driver increased the speed and raised round the city as two cars followed trying to crash into the car. Mr Flanz kept driving in Circles until he was sure he had lost them.

Marcus suggest the stay in a hotel for that day for security reasons.

"Who do you think those people are?" Jane asked in a low frightened voice after the had settled in the hotel.

"I have only one suspect." Marcus replied his face was tight and angry.

"Yeah, me to," Jane mumbled. "How do you suggest we catch them? We still do not have any concrete evidence."

Marcus nodded. He stood and started pacing the room. "This is going to be harder than we thought." He mumbled. "Coming after you like this just shows how ruthless he is," Marcus bent in front of her and held her arms just below her shoulder with his hands. "Jane, you have to stay close to me at all times. No more cafe without pest Marcus okay?"

Jane nodded.

"I cannot believe Mr. Robert wants to kill me, after all my father has done for him."

Marcus smiles at her. "Everything is going to be okay," Marcus whispered in her ear and then hugged her after 10 seconds he tried to pull away but Jane held him tight.

"Please stay," she mumbled. "Don't go,"

Marcus held her tighter. "Okay ma'am, I am not going."

The next morning Jane checked her office chat and she almost fainted. Rumour has spread in the office that she is responsible for killing Suzan, everyone believed her poison Suzan.

Marcus found her lying on the floor crying.

"What happened?" He asked, upset.

She took out for phone and gave it to Marcus.

"All those gossip!" Marcus snarled.

"Oh my God my father!" Jane panicked. "What if he had seen it? Marcus what would that mean? He will never trust me again,"

"Ah Jane, do you not think he would have called by now if he heard something?"

What Marcus said made sense to Jane; her father has been in Berlin now with all the world's most dangerous forces. " Yeah, I guess you are right.

"Maybe you should call him." Marcus suggested.

"Yes God idea she mumbled and took her phone back from Marcus.

Her father picked on the 3rd ring.

"Hi," Jane said surprisingly calmly.

*Hey Jane, I've missed you so much!"

"I miss you to dad." Jane replied. "Are you back to Austria?"

"Yes, as a matter of fact we came back not until a hour ago."

"Oh, sorry dad I did not know."

"No problem, you know how much I like hearing your voice."

" Yes Dad, I know." Jane replied with a smile of relief. "Alright Dad, greet mom for me. Just called to say hi, See ya." And she cut the call.

"Okay, he has no idea." Jane reported back to Marcus who was peeping outside through the window.

"Are you looking for someone?" Jane asked.

Marcus glanced at her and then closed the window and out his arm around her shoulder.

"No ma'am, Just checking to be safe.

"I wish Emilia was around," Jane mumbled. "She would know what to do." Marcus did not answer, he just squeezed her shoulder a little.

They sat in silent waiting, praying, but importantly the electricity that was growing between them, that kuet be the least if their problems but at that moment, nothing was more important.

"Marcus?" Jane Calle Turing Marcus' face to face her.

Yes ma'am?" He answered with his crooked smile.

"Will you still like me if I hurt you?"

Marcus stared into her eyes for a while. "I do not think I have a choice, I cannot stay mad at you even if your pluck my eyes off "

Jane chuckled. "That's insane!" She whispered.

"I know," Marcus whispered back. "But who needs sanity when they have you?"

Jane smiled drop. "Oh Marcus, what have I do to you?" She traced his perfect face with fear fingertips the way she had been dying to.

"How could you love me so much?" She asked

Marcus smiled. "I do not even have to try."
