Marcus was still lost in thought, making his resolutions.

"What are you thinking?"

Marcus looked at Jane and beamed. "Nothing, just making my own resolutions."

"Wanna share?" Jane asked, flirting with her eyelashes.

Marcus smirked. "Are you sure you want to hear it?"

"Umhm," Jane nodded.

"Well," Marcus bit his lower lip trying to find an easy way to say it without sending her back into her shell. "Let's just say I do not want to be scared of you anymore."

Jane snickered. "For real?"

Marcus nodded.

Her eyes were hurt, she didn't like the idea of being feared, at least now. She had taken on the bratty, rude, arrogant behavior as a protective shield, and she had enjoyed the way people were so Ina hurry to please her so she won't get mad, but now, she felt like a monster. "But you are not afraid of me are you?"

Marcus groaned. "Ah Jane, I do not mean I'm afraid of you physically!"

Jane looked intently into his eyes as if the very act will reveal what he is thinking. "Then what are you scared of?" she whispered.

Marcus took her hand in his, his eyes never leaving hers. "Don't you see Jane, I am scared of you rejecting me again."

But she wasn't whole enough, she would only be using him to fill the hole in her heart and it doesn't sound fair. She cowardly looked away and gently removed her hand from his hold. "I am sorry Marc," She mumbled. "I won't be any good to you."

Marcus' heart wasn't beating. He tried swallowing the lump in his throat but it wouldn't move. "Wha-what do you mean?" His voice was bearly a whisper.

Jane clasped her knees to her chest and held tight. She put her head between her knees to hide the tears from Marcus. "I'm sorry Marcus, I am to broken, I cannot do it." She said between sobs.

Marcus pain quickly changed to panick. He had thought of so many ways Jane could react including firing him but the last thing that crossed his mind was the thought of it upsetting her to the point of crying. "Oh God Jane, I am so so sorry, I did not mean to upset you." He placed his hand on her shoulder and removed it quickly again.

He stood up and paced the small space. He came to a stop in front of Jane when she raised her head. "Are you okay?"he asked bending she he could see her face properly.
