Chapter 27: Chapter 27
Twaine's Point of View :
"Wow!" First word that A.M said after we got off the plane.
"You like it here, baby?" I asked her sweetly.
"Yes, Mom, I do." she smiled in response as she rolled her eyes across the airport.
"Let's go, baby. We still have a lot of places to go, okay? But for now, let's go home first." I told her.
"All right, Mommy." I'm glad that I raised A.M well, I'm proud that even though I'm alone I still raised her well.
After we got out of the taxi, I rolled my eyes around our house for a while. It is refreshing because there are already many houses standing on the vacant lot near our house. This is the house where Kyle and I lived. Kyle bequeathed this house to us from Daddy, but now that we are separated, Kyle has no right to it.
"This is your house, Mom?" My daughter asked me a curious question.
"Yes, this is Grandpa's house." I answered her. She just nodded then she ran towards the garden.
"Ma'am, Twaine!" I was surprised when Manang Lina greeted me. She was our caretaker for a long time but it was surprising because she still stayed even without me.
"Wow! Manang Lina? Are you still here?" I asked right away.
"Of course, Sir Kyle told me not to leave your house." She said smiling. My chest throbbed for a moment after hearing Kyle's name.
"Why did he tell you that, we've been separated for so long?"
"That's it. He said this house is important to you so he told me to take care of it for you." Manang Lina said.
"Is that so?"
"Mommy!" At the same time, Ate Lina and I turned to A.M, she was holding a white rose that I'm sure came from the garden.
"Yes, baby?"
"Look, I love it" I smiled because like her, I also like white roses.
"M-ma'am, Twaine?" Manang Lina's expression was shocked.
"Yes?"
"Is she your daughter?" I nodded in response.
"She's so cute and beautiful! Just like you! " I just smiled at her proudly.
"Yes,"
"All right, come in to rest."
"Baby, let's go inside." I took A.M and bring her inside the house.
After we ate lunch, I took A.M to my old room to sleep. In less than a few minutes she was sound asleep so I slowly left beside her to check the house.
I went first to Kyle’s old room. His belongings are no longer there. Maybe he took it or threw it.
Nothing has changed in that room yet. The whole room is still bright. After looking at the room I decided to go out there.
But I was stopped when I saw an envelope. The envelope looks familiar so I opened it. I looked at the flesh then. The annulment paper is ours. I also found out that Kyle had that signature.
After inspecting the whole house, I decided to leave the house. In the garden I decided to sit down. The breeze is cool here and you can really relax with the plants that have been planted. I smiled as I observe the beautiful flowers of roses, orchids and honeysuckle.
"Ma'am Twaine?" I turned to Manang.
"What it is?" I politely asked.
"I'm not interfering, am I? But who is A.M's father?" I can't answer her question. Even myself, I don’t know what to answer. I can't even tell my daughter her father's name. I feel like this is the question I've been afraid of for a long time.
"Ah, Manang?"
"I'm sorry, ma'am Twaine. It's okay. Just don't pay attention to me." After zhe said that, she immediately entered the house. I breathed a sigh of relief after she entered the house. I dare myself to say who A.M’s father is because I myself don’t like him as my daughter's father.
The next day, I left the house early together with my daughter. We will be meeting Jeremy and Ana, my two bestfriends and old classmates.
"Mommy, where are we going?" The excitement was obvious in my daughter's voice so I answered her with a smile.
"We're going to a park, baby."I replied smiling at her.
"Wow! Really, Mom? Yes!" I'm just laughing because it's very obvious to her that she's really excited.
Alexandria Maine loves to play, so Ana said we will just meet in the park so that my daughter can play. Which is a good idea so I immediately agreed.
"Here we are!" I surprised her.
"Wow!" she's smiling really big while observing the park.
"Twaine, Oh My God!" I was immediately greeted by Ana's tight hug.
"You're annoying! You didn't tell me that you're going back home, I hate you!" she said like a child while still beating me.
"Hey, stop hurting my mom!" A.M cried and tried to keep Ana away from me.
"Oh my gosh! Is that Baby A.M? Baby!" Ana immediately let go of me and then she focused on my daughter. I just realized that they were having fun playing on the playground here in the park.
"Hey, what's up?" I turned to Jeremy.
"Oh, Jer! Long time no see!"
"Tsk. It's you, I thought you were just going to cool off in Canada. You didn't say you were going to live there for a few years." he said, the sullenness was obvious in his voice.
"Hahaha! I thought that way too. But my daughter suddenly came into my life, so I have no choice but to stay there." I said.
"Does Kyle know?" I was stunned by his question.
"He doesn't need to know." I answered with bravery.
"But he's the father of your daughter." he insisted.
"Enough, I'm not in the mood to talk about him. I came home here to give my daughter the vacation she wants." I was annoyed when I said that to him.
"Look, I'm sorry."
"It's okay." I insisted.
"Twaine, come quickly. Cradle us, hurry!" I immediately approached Ana and they rocked tirelessly.
"Wah! Hahaha! More, Mom! More!" I just laughed at them because I know my daughter is very happy now.
"Woah! Time out first, I'm tired of hanging out with you." I complained while still panting. They just laughed at me.
"Mommy, I'm tired." My daughter said yawning so I picked her up and leaned on my shoulder.
"What do you want, baby? Do you want to go home?" I asked her as I wiped her back with the face towel I was carrying.
"No." She answered but all of a sudden she fell asleep right away.
"She's so cute, Twaine." Ana said in amazement. I just smiled at her because of that.
"You didn't tell me that Jeremy and you are already engaged? Hmm," I changed the subject.
"Well, it's different." she said laughing.
"Heh!" I just said.
"So, how's that? Your baby girl is already asleep. Are you going home?" she asked.
"Yes, maybe tomorrow again."
"All right so you can rest too. But, Jeremy and I will take you first."
"No, don't. That'll keep you away. All right, you go first." I refuse.
"Are you sure?" She's really making sure.
"Yes, promise."
"All right, we'll go first. Please take care, okay?" I just nodded in response.
After they left, I also started walking with A.M on my shoulder.
Bogsh!
A.M's toy suddenly fell so I tried to reach it even though it was difficult because I was carrying her in my shoulder.
"Here." A hand picked it up and handed it to me.
"Thank you." I said smiling after I get my daughter's barbie doll.
"You're welcome." he said without looking at me. I didn't say a word and continue my walk.
