Chapter 25: Chapter 25
6 years later...
Kyle's Point of View :
"Good morning, Sir Kyle, here are the papers you've asked me to prepared." my secretary said politely.
"Thank you, just put it there." I told her. After she laid down on my desk the papers I had asked to prepared by her, she immediately left my office.
I looked at those papers one by one. I reviewed it carefully for the proposal to be made this afternoon. While I was busy reviewing them I suddenly caught sight of the picture frame on my side table. That was a picture of Twaine and me at our wedding.
I stopped and let go of the paper I was holding. I picked up that picture frame and stared at it intently. As I stared at the picture of the two of us I couldn’t help but be hurt. I was hurt by the fact that I hadn’t seen her in almost six years. I don't know what kind of life she has now. Who are her companions. If she finished the course she wanted.
While thinking about those things, I realized that I was crying. I laughed to myself as I wiped the tears that flowed down my cheek. It's funny that until now I still think of her even though she left me that easy.
"Hon, why are you crying?" I got up out of nowhere when I saw Sofia in front of me. Sofia Catherine Perez was my 4 years girlfriend. She was always there when I was very weak so it didn't take long and I fell in love with her.
I courted her for almost six months and after, finally she said yes. She's my sister's bestfriend. After two years of searching for Twaine and nothing happening, I also decided to sign our annulment paper. I want to forget her through Sofia. Yes, when I'm with Sofia I suddenly forgot the pain that Twaine left. But when I’m alone I can’t help but think of Twaine from time to time.
"Nothing, Hon," I smiled in response to her.
"Psh! I know you Kyle. C'mon, what it is about?" she asked while wiping my tears.
"Is it still about your ex-wife?" I really can’t lie when it comes to her. I nodded slightly because of what she said.
"Look, I'm here. Don't look for or cry for what's gone." She said seriously while hugging me tightly. I just hugged her too. This is one of the reason why I love her, Sofia. She's the type of woman who will do everything for me even if it hurts her.
I was open with her about Twaine and me and she never got mad at me about that. She's constant reason was, 'I'm your girlfriend and you're my boyfriend, so I have to accept what your past and the present are' because of that I was not able to lie to her.
Yes, sometimes I feel guilty because I know she's also hurting when I think of Twaine even though she is there.
"Thank you." I suddenly said as we still hugged.
"For what?" She asked.
"For always understanding me." I smiled in response.
"Psh! Are you still there? You know I love you so much." Because of what she said so I couldn’t stop myself from kissing her on her cheek.
"I love you." I said after I kissed her on her cheeks.
"I love you, too." She answered sweetly.
"I just happened to say goodbye."
"Say goodbye about what?" I frowned at her.
"I was going on vacation in our province. Grandma called, her 80th birthday next week, she told me that I should be there or else she'll get upset. If you're not busy you can come with me." she said.
"Is that so? It's a pity, next week is also my scheduled meeting with the company's upcoming new investor." I said sadly.
"Hon, it's okay. I understand you, besides my cousin is with me." She said smiling.
"Are you sure? I'm really sorry hon, promise after that I'll get back to you." I said.
"No need, Hon. It's really okay. All right, I'll be going now. Just take care of yourself and don't starve, okay? I love you."
"My hon is sweet. I love you more. You too, take care of yourself." I hugged her tightly before she finally left my office.
Twaine's Point of View :
"Bonjour!" An angelic voice appeared to me as soon as I opened my eyes. I woke up immediately and hugged her.
"Good morning too, baby." I smiled greeting her back.
"How's your sleep, Mom?" she asked me sweetly.
"It's great, baby. How about you?"
"Same with you, Mom." She answered sparingly.
"You okay?" I asked her as I looked at her carefully. She nodded sparingly again.
"But you look sad, baby. C'mon, what's wrong?" I asked her sweetly. She was even more frustrated.
"My classmates went on a vacation with their Mom and Dad. I also want a vacation, Mommy," she said staring at me intently. I want to laugh because my little angel is sulking. But I was stopped by her desire to take a vacation. Because, I can't. I have a job at the hospital.
"Baby, you know that Mommy is busy, right?"
"Yes. That's why I'm sad. Coz you're always busy." If she had been pout before, now she is sobbing.
"So-sorry, baby. Don't worry, I'll do my best to got a vacation leave from the hospital. Promise, if I got approved then, we're going on a vacation!" I told her. Suddenly, her eyes twinkled.
"Re-really, Mom? Yes! I'm so happy! Je t'aime, maman!"
[Je t'aime maman translation: I love you, Mommy]
Because of the excitement that I see now in my daughter, I can’t help but smiled. I am so proud to have her, my 5 years old daughter Alexandria Maine Montenegro.
"If ever, where do you want to spend our vacation?" I'm glad asking her. I was excited because of the excitement I could see in her eyes.
"In the Philippines!" The smile on my lips gradually disappeared after I heard the country she wanted us to go on vacation.
"Uncle Clyde told me that it's a beautiful country. The people in there are hospitable ang generous that's why I wanted to go there!" She almost jumped at the chance. The joy I could see in her eyes, I just saw in her now. I didn't know how to tell her that we couldn't be in the Philippines.
I tried to forgot about Kyle for a long time and I don't want us to meet again.
"A.M?" I call her attention.
"Yes, Mommy?"
"Uhm, how about in Korea, Japan, Taiwan—"
"No, Mom. I want in the Philippines only." she said pouting.
"Baby,"
"Mom, please?" Her eyes were talking, so I didn’t know how to stop her.
"O-okay. We'll go in the Philippines." Because I hadn't any choice anymore, that's why I can't help but to agreed with her.
"Yes! Thank you, Mommy!"
After our intense conversation, she quickly came up to me and gave me a hug and a kisses.
