Chapter 28: Chapter 28
Sofia's Point of View :
"How's your vacation, Babe?" Kyle immediately asked me as soon as he entered the café I owned. I just came home from a vacation so I texted him that we will just meet here at the café because I miss him so much.
"It's okay hon, I enjoyed. But I would have enjoyed it more if I was with you." I said softly. He smiled broadly before placing his hands on my cheek.
"You're really cute, hon!" He said laughing as he squeezed my cheek.
"Adrian Kyle Mendez, stop it! It hurts!" I said laughing as I removed his hand from my cheek.
"I'm sorry, I can't stop myself from squeezing your cute cheeks," he said smiling. He's so handsome, God!
"Heh!" I just said. I stopped laughing and stared at Kyle for a moment.
"Hon, is anything dirty?" he asked curiously. I just laughed at him. Even when, this man is really very secure.
"Nothing. I just missed you, so I'm staring at you." I smiled in response. I don't understand but I feel sad now. I can't explain this feeling I'm feelin' right now. It feels like this is the last moment we will laugh together.
"Hon, are you okay?" he had a worried question.
"Yeah. I'm okay, Hon." I forced a smile in response.
"Sofia, I've known you for almost 4 years, now will you still deny me? C'mon what's wrong?" I frowned.
"I don't know, but I'm afraid." I said with a sigh.
"Huh, afraid of what?" I shook my head in response. I don't really know what this fear I feel now is for.
"I just feel afraid, Hon. I'm scared to lose you. Would you promise not to leave me no matter what?" Suddenly I said that Kyle was surprised.
"Of course, I will never ever leave you. I love you so much, hon." he said while holding my hands. But no matter what he says, nothing has changed how I feel now. I felt even more scared. It's as if everything is just words.
"Hon, I'll take you home now. You don't seem really okay. Maybe you should take some rest." I just nodded. Maybe I just need a break now.
Kyle's Point of View :
After I drive Sofia home, I decided to go through the nearest jewelry shop first. I remember that our 5th anniversary is coming. I also plan to propose to her on our anniversary itself. I just felt that she's the right one for me. I love her and I want to be with her forever. One more thing, I'm not getting younger anymore.
As I was walking, I saw a woman with a loaded child. The child is asleep so it is difficult for her to sit up to pick up anything that has fallen. I immediately approached her and I picked up the thing.
"Here." I handed her a barbie doll.
"Thank you." she replied. I stopped because of her voice. Even the perfume she uses is familiar.
"You're welcome." I smiled in response. Her long hair covers her face so I can't see her face. But her voice and even her perfume was familiar.
"Twaine?" I call her name to make sure that it was her. She stopped and faced me.
"Who are you?" she asked blankly. She also pulled out a few strands of her hair that covered her face, so, now, I'm sure it's her.
"Twaine! It's really you are!" I can't believe it! The beating of my chest is the same every time I see her before. She's the only woman who can makes my heart beat crazier.
"K-kyle?" Her previous blank expression is now a variety of emotions.
"W-who is she?" I was referring to the child on her shoulder.
"I have to go." She suddenly turned her back on me as if she was chasing something.
"Twaine, wait!" I stopped her.
"Kyle, please! Not now, the kid is asleep and she needs a rest." she said in a hard voice.
"Mom," the girl woke up so she turned to me.
"Your child?" I frowned at her.
"Please, Kyle? Let me go and my daughter, we will go home." she said holding her anger. I let her go and then without warning she turned her back on me for the second time.
'She already has a child?'
That disappoints me while thinking that. It was as if my heart could not accept the thought that she had already a family.
I chased after her and took a bag and paperbag from her hand because I knew she was having a hard time with what she was carrying.
"Kyle, why are you so stubborn?" She scolded me. I was losing my sanity because even though she was shouting at me, I was still trying to hold her hand towards my car.
"Get in." I commanded her.
"What the hell is your problem?" Her nose almost smoked with anger but I didn't care. I just stared at the child who was asleep again on her shoulder.
"Just get in. We have a lot to talk about. You have a lot to explain to me." My tears welled up as I told her that, she was shocked. She didn't say a word but just got in the car as I ordered.
"Do you go home to the old house?" I asked. She just nodded in response.
When we arrived at her house, she immediately got out of the car still carrying her child.
"Please go home now, Kyle. Also, please don't show to me either." she said without emotion. I just smiled because of what she said. I don’t know what she’s avoiding me with.
"Why?" I asked weakly.
"Because we're done!" After she said that, she turned her back on me. Like she said to leave, I didn’t. Instead I followed her into her house.
After she put the child in her room she slowly left the room and closed the door.
"Why are you still here? Aren't I told you to leave?" Instead of answering her I just hugged her tightly.
"Kyle! Are you fucking crazy?" She tried to get out of my arms but I tightened my grip on her even more.
"Why did you leave, why did you leave me?" My tears still flowing while asking her.
"What do you want me to do? To stay here while the one I love can see with my own eyes with someone else? Is that what you want, Kyle?" I almost lost my breathe after seeing her cry.
"I don't want to leave, but I can't bear seeing you with someone else right along, that you've chosen someone else." she added.
"I'd rather not see you, than seeing you but your time and attention are with others." I could feel her resentment at the words she was uttering. It's all my fault. I wasn’t careful then, I didn’t think about how she would feel about the decisions I made.
"Sorry, I'm so sorry Twaine." I was tempted to apologize to her.
"That's over, Kyle. We don't have to talk about the past anymore. Just think it's all just a bad dream." she said with a forced smile as she wiped her cheek.
"Leave now, Kyle, please?" she pleaded.
"About your daughter, who is her father?" She was silent for a moment as if she didn't know what to answer.
"Twaine, who is the father of your daughter?" I repeated almost shouting her.
"Me!" Twaine and I looked at the source of that voice together.
"Clyde?" I asked in disbelief. It was as if heaven and earth had fallen on me because of what I had heard.
"How did you do this to me, Clyde?" I asked angrily.
"The answer is simple, Uncle, I did it because of your stupidity!" Suddenly my hearing tingled so I rushed to him and gave him a punch.
