Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Twaine's Point of View :

"Oh, my dear. C'mon what's wrong? Tell it to mommy, I'm willing to listen." Aunt Kyla said as she hugged me tightly.

"M-mom—" I don't know but it looks like something is stuck in my throat right now.

"Ma'am Kyla, there's a delivery."

"For whom?" Auntie asked one of the maids who handed her over.

"It looks like it belongs to sir Kyle." The maid answered.

"Okay, thank you." When Tita got it, she immediately handed it to me.

"Open it my dear." She said smiling.

"Ah, not anymore aunt, maybe that's important." I rejecte her. I returned the letter to aunt.

She opened it and then she read the contents. Her eyes widened as she moved around me and the envelope she was holding.

"W-what's the meaning of this Twaine?" It seems like an unbelievable question. I just looked at aunt blankly because I also didn’t know what she meant.

"Have you been annulled?" She asked shaky. She didn't seem to believe what she read.

"M-mom, I didn't agrees to that," I said crying.

"Twaine, I know you and my son talked about it before, but don't you already love each other?" She said tearfully.

"M-mom, only Kyle decided that." I confessed.

"Mom, Twaine, what's going on? Why are you crying?" Kyle asked thoughtfully.

Aunt gave him a hard slap.

"How dare you! Didn't you yourself tell me that you already love your wife? What is this?" Aunt showed Kyle the annulment paper she was holding.

"S-sorry." He said bowing. I just looked at Kyle blankly as well. I want to cry but my eyes are tired.

"Sorry? What's wrong with you Kyle?" Aunt's frustrated questioned to him.

"Mom, Roxanne needs me. She's suffering a stage 4 cancer!" He said almost aloud to his mom. Aunt was stunned for a moment.

"That's it Kyle, she's already sick but she's still able to ruin the relationship between you and Twaine!" Auntie said angrily to him.

I just remained standing while watching them. I feel numbness all over my body. I don't feel anything now. As far as I know, I just listen to their conversation.

"Mom!"

"I don't understand you anymore, Kyle. But just make sure you don't regret what you're doing!"

"Talk to Twaine, I'm going to see your sister. I'm going to have her check Roxanne." After aunt Kyla said that, she left Kyle and me.

"Twaine, let's talk." He said calmly. I just smiled at him before I spoke.

"Give me a ballpen." I said coldly.

"Twaine,"

"I said give me a ballpen!" I shouted. His hand trembled as he handed me the ballpen he had snatched from his pocket.

I immediately signed our annulment paper and I smiled when I returned it to him.

"Here. You're now free."

"Twaine, stop acting like you're okay." There was a trace of concern in his eyes.

"Then, stop acting like a caring husband! Who are you? Didn't you choose someone else? So, let's end up here, okay?" I laughed telling him. He held me with both arms.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, okay? Promise, after all of these, everything will be okay too. We'll go back to what we've been before." He said seriously.

"It's okay, even if we didn't get back to each other. Besides, I'm tired. Maybe we're just up to here. Forget me and I'll forget you too."

"Twaine, don't be like this, please?" I could see the tears forming in his eyes.

"Do you hear yourself, Kyle? You asked about this, you filed an annulment without me agreeing to it. That's why I signed that annulment paper for you—to not make it hard for you. I already set you free, so please, stop bothering me and please, stop caring about me anymore!"

"—If you think I'm okay, I'm telling you now that I am not okay. But what can I do? You asked about this and I don't want to be selfish, as what I've said, I don't want to make it hard for you. Besides, I can't do anything but to accept that we're not really meant for each other."

After I told him those words I attempted to leave the mansion. But I was just a few steps away when he suddenly hugged me from behind.

"I love you, Twaine. I will always love you." I was speechless. I just let my tears fall from my eyes. After he said that, he also gradually let go. When he finally let go, I finally left.

Kyle's Point of View :

"Hey babe, how's your day?" Roxanne asked me a dull question. I just got back from the hospital after I went home to the mansion to get my clothes. To this day I still can't believe that my wife left me.

'Are you stupid? You were the first one who asked about this—she was just forced because she had no choice but to agree!' My mind chastises me.

"Babe—"

"Twaine and I have been annulled." I said without showing any emotion to her.

"T-that's good to hear so that somehow, our marriage will be happening." She kept saying.

"Good to hear? Why are you so heartless?" I said sarcastically to her.

"S-sorry..." I apologized to her after I said those words that I knew were painful for her because she was started sobbing.

"I-I just want to be with you before I died. Is that really heartless?" She asked sobbing.

"Shhh, forget about what I said. Sorry." I said as I hugged her.

"Let's get married next month babe." I released hugging her because of what she said suddenly.

"In the next immediate month?" I repeated.

"Yes. Maybe my illness is getting worse. I don't want to get married without hair." She said laughing.

Honestly, I feel sorry for Roxanne. She was losing weight and her complexion was very pale. The corners of her eyes also turn black. It was also submerged. She is far from what she used to look like.

"Okay, let's do it next month. If that's what you want." I said smiling.

"Thanks, babe. I love you!" I just nodded at her.

"Sleep now," I told her.

"All right, you too." I just smiled at her.

When I saw Roxanne asleep I couldn’t help but think of Twaine.

"Tsk! tsk! tsk!" When I came out of Roxanne's room, Clyde immediately greeted me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Are you really stupid, uncle?" He said with a smile.

"Clyde, I'm not in the mood for hitting you. Go home then."

"Twaine loves you so much and then you just left her for a woman you don't know? What a stupidity!"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You don't know Roxanne, because if you knew her you wouldn't leave Twaine." After he said that he also left immediately. Just as he appeared, he quickly disappeared.

'What does Clyde mean?'

Argh! That boy really, always leaves me confused because what he says like him—confusing.
