Chapter 9: Chapter 9

My mom couldn't find any other Sunday to have a family get together but this one,and there is no getting out of it. I didn't want to mention that I had to meet a girl because one sure thing is that my parents, especially my mom, would have me invite her for the get-together even though the thought of it didn't sound that bad.

"I thought you were supposed to meet, you know who, today?" Noah asked, whispering so my mom doesn't hear.

"Yes,and I told her seven." I told him

Had it been she had a phone,I would have called her and maybe asked her to give me an extra thirty minutes but unfortunately she didn't have one.

"You have less than thirty minutes now." He informed me as if I'm blind.

"I know." I replied.

My parents were looking at the both of us,but neither of them said anything until Noah faked a call and gave it to me pretending it was from a client.

"I'll be on my way now." I said to no one.

"I have to meet the agent concerning the place we got for the restaurant." I lied.

"It's late, can't it wait?" My mom asked.

"No mom, I'll make it up to you." I promised.

"Check the save of my car,I dropped the documents for you." Noah said, and I was wondering what documents but it turned out to be a new phone….I mean two brand new phones.

"For someone who didn't believe true love exists,he is very thoughtful." I said, as I made my way out of my parents' compound with my car.

Seeing that it is already some minutes after seven,I hope she didn't leave already.

Just as I packed my car,I saw her walking away and my guess is that she thought I wasn't coming.

"Precious.." I called out to her and I saw her halt in her steps.

"I thought you weren't coming or maybe I was late." She said.

"I had a family dinner that I couldn't get out of on time." I explained and she smiled in understanding.

"It's okay, you're here now." She said.

I led the way to where we would get a cab to take us to a different restaurant since she didn't want to go to the one she worked in... before you ask, I didn't want her to know who I am before getting to know the real me and I'm sure if she sees my car, she'd get an idea.

"Thanks for yesterday." She said, and I remembered I got something for her.

I am surprised she is thanking me, because the other girls I was with even after getting expensive things…maybe I should stop comparing her to the other girls. She doesn't even behave like them, she isn't wearing makeup but she's beautiful and she is dressed in something I feel is comfortable for her.

"I'm really sorry once more." I apologised.

"It's okay, besides I'd just gotten there too." She explained.

The cab driver dropped us in front of KFC, another competition that I wasn't worried about. Immediately we got down,I could feel people staring at us and this is exactly why I didn't go to my own restaurant.

"Why are people staring at you?" She asked.

"Because I'm together with the most beautiful girl they've ever seen." I told her, ignoring the people around us.

"I don't think so." She answered shyly.

"Well, can you think of another reason?" I asked, but she nodded her head negatively.

The waiter came for our orders but I didn't miss how his eyes linger on Precious, especially her exposed arm and the little cleavage she was showing.

"We came to eat, not get eye raped." I said to the waiter.

"I'm sorry ma." He apologised with obvious embarrassment that he'd been caught.

"Thank you." She said.

The food came minutes later and we started eating, but since I just had dinner I couldn't eat much so I just watched her eat gracefully.

"Do you make it a habit watching people eat?" She asked.

"Only the pretty ones." I answered without a second thought.

"I see." She said, going back to her food.

"So a friend of mine got something for you,so before you reject it think of how much he'd be hurt if he finds out you rejected his gift." I started.

"Okay….." She drawled

I placed the bag where the phone is on the table and her eyebrow came together in confusion.

"What is it?" She asked, dropping the spoon she was holding.

"You have to open it to see what's in it but do me a favor and do it when you get home." I said, because something tells me if she opens it here, she'd reject it.

"But I want to know what's inside." She said.

"You will, just not here." I answered.

"Maybe I should go so I can check it." She suggested.

"No please." I said quickly, even surprising myself.

"Ok then."

When she had eaten to her satisfaction,we had our table cleared and we started talking. I didn't mention anything about the orphanage she said yesterday because it means only one thing….she is an orphan and I'm not sure it is something you'd like to talk about with someone you barely know.

"I can't believe you didn't watch it." She said in disbelief.

We were talking about different things but I wasn't sure how it got to the movie she is talking about.

"My friend explained it to me,so I didn't see the use of watching it and besides I really don't like watching movies." I said, justifying myself.

"Everyone, well except you of course, watched hercules. It's an old movie." She argued.

"I told you I spent most of my time in the kitchen." I told her.

"You must know how to cook then,I can't wait to eat something you cooked." She said.

"Same goes for your food too." I told her.

"Maybe when they allow me to cook at De ultimate which I think is never." She said sadly.

"I'm sure they'll allow you one day and then they'll be begging you not to stop." I told her.

"I know you're just saying that." She said,but I wasn't.

We spoke at length and when it got late,we had to call it a night even though it was totally against my wish. I got ice cream to go for both her friend and herself which she thanked me for.

The cab dropped us at the usual place but she wouldn't let me walk her so I just watched her leave with the bag where the phones are in one hand and ice-cream in the other.

I then went to where I'd packed my car earlier before dialing Noah's number. I thanked him for being thoughtful,he then asked if she liked it.

"I didn't allow her to open it,if not she might have rejected it." I explained.

"Really?" He asked.

"Yea, would you believe she thanked me for yesterday." I told him.

"What did you do?" He asked.

"I bought pepper soup." I said, and he started laughing.

"Maybe you found your 'true love',keep her." He said, and I wasn't planning to let her go. He laughed again before saying he had to pick another call.

I'm going to keep her,if she'll have me because everything about her intrigues me.
