Chapter 64: Chapter 64
While Scarlett continues to search for Ferdinand.
“Ferdinand!” she yelled, shooting at those on display throughout the quarters. “You asshole! Get out! Face me!” she yelled as she blew up the build with the last of the bombs.
Scarlett came to a halt when she heard a helicopter. Her eyes widened, and she peered out the window, but it surprised her when she saw Ferdinand dragging the chairman Knight.
“Grandpa…” Scarlett whispered as she walked up to the window, grabbed the leash’s hook, and climbed out. “You can’t run away, Ferdinand!” she exclaimed as she ran towards her last opponent. She took a stone and threw it at Ferdinand’s head.
“Are you going to run away?!? Aren’t you tired of running away over and over?!?” Scarlett yelled, grabbing her gun from her boots.
“I will not let you live! I will send Verno to hell!” Ferdinand yelled, pointing his gun at Verno.
Scarlett came to a halt as she noticed chairman Knight struggling to breathe. She tightened her fist, prepared her gun, and shot Ferdinand’s hand, causing Ferdinand to drop the gun.
“Damn you, bitch!”
Scarlett grinned. “It’s over, Ferdinand, because you have no ally! You will pay for all your sins!” she yelled as she approached Ferdinand, who stepped back and grabbed the helicopter’s rope, but she wouldn’t let go, so she shot the rope to cut it.
“You can’t escape the Knights, Ferdinand! Your life isn’t enough yet for the many sins you’ve committed against my family!” Scarlett said as she ran at Ferdinand, but before she could get near to him, Ferdinand shot her, which she avoided.
“Scarlett!”
Scarlett took a deep breath and clenched her fists. “Get the chairman! I’ll take care of Ferdinand!” she exclaimed, motioning for her cousins to follow her to get the chairman Knight.
Scarlett saw Ferdinand about to board the helicopter and ran to grab the old man, preventing him from boarding.
“You can’t get away!” Scarlett yelled, dragging Ferdinand away from the helicopter. “You will pay for what you did to Grandma!” she yelled at Ferdinand. She ran over to the old man and punched him in the face before Ferdinand could stand up again.
“For grandma!” she punched him again in the face. “And For Ken!” he yelled, grabbing the old man’s arm and breaking it. “For mom!” she exclaimed, breaking Ferdinand’s arm again, who was already on the ground and screaming in pain.
“This is for our chairman!” Scarlett broke his finger. I am giving this to my children, who’re traumatized because of what you did.
Ferdinand screamed and struggled to move his broken arm and fingers.
“Y-you bitch—” he couldn’t finish his sentence because Scarlett grabbed her gun and pointed it at his head.
“We weren’t raised to be cowards.” She pulled on Ferdinand’s hair, forcing him to look up at her. “Now tell me you can kill us,” said Scarlett, her eyes blankly looking into Ferdinand’s eyes.
“You’ll go to hell first,” she said, pressing her gun into his head. “And this is for Sophia, who you used against me; go to hell.” she said as she pulled the trigger, and the bullet struck Ferdinand in the head.
She let go of Ferdinand’s head and stood up, but she collapsed from exhaustion. Scarlett raised her head, noticing a raindrop accompanying the flow of her tears. And she ended up on the grass because her strength had run out.
Her vision was becoming blurry, but a smile appeared on her lips. “It’s over, grandma,” she whispered, about to close her eyes, when a tear fell down her cheek and she felt a caress on her cheek, which made her smile even bigger, and she lost consciousness.
The conflict between Ferdinand and Scarlett has ended. Many people were killed, including Scarlett’s mother and sister. They returned Sharlene and Sophia’s bodies to Manila, and they took Scarlett to the hospital for treatment.
The Knights have already planned a funeral for Sharlene and Sophia, and the doctor has taken Scarlett’s children to check for major trauma because of what happened. The kids searched for their mother, who was still unconscious in the hospital.
While the chairman is in critical condition.
“Shouldn’t we wait for Scarlett to wake up?” asked Rios. Vernon smiled and shook his head.
“Let Scarlett rest first; she needed it after everything she went through; I won’t take the funeral any longer because the media will only increase.”
Rios nodded and looked at the gate of the Knights, who had plenty of reporters waiting outside their gate because everyone had already heard about the battle in San Martín. He sighed, respecting his uncle’s decision.
Scarlett regained consciousness after two weeks.
“Mommy!”
She smiled at her children when she saw them.
“C-Come here…” she said, swallowing because something was blocking her throat. The kids climbed into her bed and hugged her.
“Oh, relax; your mother just awoke.”
Scarlett smiled. “It’s all right, brother.”
Carter sighed and helped Scarlett to sit.
Scarlett looked at Carter, took a deep breath, and asked, “Where’s the chairman?”
Carter came to a halt and sighed again before turning to face Scarlett. “He died,” he stated. Scarlett froze and bowed her head.
“He can’t take it any longer; he has a heart condition that he has kept hidden from us,” he added. Scarlett covered her face with her hands and broke down in tears.
Carter’s face softened, and he directed the children to their nanny. They nodded and walked out of the room. Carter walked up to Scarlett and hugged her.
“I-I didn’t even apologize to him for all of my mistakes; he didn’t even wait for me to wake up,” Scarlett sobbed. Carter’s hug only tightened to comfort her. “They took away some important people from me, brother, and I don’t know how to start over.”
Carter stroked Scarlett’s back. “Shh… You will continue to carry out what grandfather left you,” he whispered. Scarlett shook her head and took a breath before wiping her tears away.
“Perhaps I’ll leave everything to dad after he mourns the loss of mom and Sophia. I can’t do it now. I want to rest from all problems. Ferdinand caused a plenty of traumas to my children, and I don’t want my children to hate the family they came from,” she smiled. “What happened still hurts me, and I intend to leave here anyway,”
Carter sighed and nodded. “If that’s your decision, I’ll respect it; for now, rest.”
Scarlett nodded and looked out the window, recalling everything that had happened. She bit her lower lip, hugged her knees, and cried quietly.
“Scarlett…”
Scarlett came to a halt and lifted her head, smiling as she saw the person she had been hoping to see for a while.
“Dominic,” she said as she wiped her tears. “You showed up.”
Dominic smiled and took a seat beside her.
“Hi?”
Scarlett laughed and touched Dominic on the cheek. “Can you take me to the garden? I need some fresh air,” she asked. Dominic nodded and stood to get a wheelchair.
Dominic picked her up and walked her to the wheelchair, and she smiled as she thanked him. Scarlett closed her eyes after they left the garden because of the sun’s rays. She had been unconscious for two weeks, but she could now feel the sun and the wind again. Dominic moved the wheelchair closer to a bench.
“What urged you to shoot Sophia, Dominic?” Scarlett asked. Dominic came to a halt and turned away from her.
“I-I’m not sure. When I saw her gun pointed at you, I immediately pulled the trigger, and it was too late to shoot her,” Dominic replied, taking a deep breath. Scarlett smiled and nodded.
“I thought Sophia could change, but her anger has consumed her; she is also a victim of Ferdinand, and I’m not sure if I can forgive her for everything she did.” Scarlett bowed and fiddled with her hands. “I don’t know what to do, and I don’t know where or how to proceed,” said Scarlett, raising her head as she felt her tears well up again.
“I want to leave here with our children by ourselves, and I would like to forget everything that happened,” she said, taking Dominic’s hand. “If you can wait for me, Dominic, we can be whole again and have a happy family like we dreamed of before. But if you can’t wait for me, that’s fine with me, too. You still deserve to be happy—” Scarlett paused as Dominic hugged her.
“I will wait, no matter how long it takes,” Dominic stated. Scarlett sobbed and hugged Dominic tightly. “I will wait for you.”
Scarlett nodded and held Dominic even tighter.
They separated, and their foreheads touched. “You will remember how much I love you,” Dominic whispered. Scarlett nodded, and they exchanged glances before their lips met.
She kissed Dominic passionately because she still loved her ex-husband.
After a few days, Scarlett decided they would leave for another country to forget, so she left her business to Claire and gave over the position to her father.
“Be careful; you will return here, okay?”
Scarlett looked at her father, who was helping her with her belongings.
“You will eat well; you are no longer a child, Scarlett, so prepare.”
She winced at his father’s words, as if she was about to abandon herself.
“You’re bringing my grandchildren back here, and Tara may teach Carrie things she shouldn’t.”
Scarlett snorted because she already knew everything and there was no need to tell her anything else. She also took Tara with her and cared for her because the child was innocent of what Sophia had done.
“Dad, relax. I know all that. You’re like a mom!” she said. They both came to a halt and looked at Sharlene’s photo together.
“Perhaps your mother will show up and fight me because I’m neglecting my grandchildren,” said Vernon, shaking his head because if his wife were still alive, she would probably scold him.
Scarlett grinned as she stroked Sharlene’s picture. “Mom was terrifying,” she snorted. “She might have even put powder on my back.” Vernon chuckled and closed Scarlett’s suitcase, and he messed up Scarlett’s hair and kissed her on the cheeks.
“You must obey my orders, Scarlett.”
Scarlett smiled. “Yes, chairman,” she said as she stood up and took her suitcase from her room.
“When you come back here,” said Vernon, “I’ll get down from my position.” Scarlett shifted her gaze to her father.
“I’ll give it to my son,” she said with a grin, and they both turned to look at Agustin, who was reading a book. “He’ll surpass the chairman,” she added. Vernon grinned and wrapped his arm around his daughter as they went down the stairs together.
Her cousins were waiting for them to leave. She came to a halt when she noticed Jaguar sitting on her father’s throne, so she grabbed Agustin’s book and threw it at him as he stood from his seat.
“Damn you,” Jaguar grumbled, rubbing his head. “Hmm, I recognize this book; do you enjoy it, Agustin?”
Agustin raised his brows and snatched the book from Jaguar, his uncle.
“Yeah, and I don’t like girls, uncle,” said Agustin. Jaguar grinned as they exchanged fist bumps.
Scarlett shook her head and motioned for the kids to leave. She smiled as she turned to leave, looking at the portraits of her grandfather and grandmother.
Scarlett asks for a favor before they leave because she wants to see Solen suffer in prison. For payment for all their sins. When they arrived in the city jail. She noticed Solen waiting for her in a wheelchair.
“You seem to experience the pain. You deserve it,” Scarlett smirked, noticing Solen had lost weight, and it showed her old age.
“From now on, Sophia is no longer your daughter. You have no right to be her mother and grandmother to her child. You will rot here in prison,” said Scarlett before getting up and leaving. But she approached Solen and slapped her. “For what you did to mom and Sophia, and please forget you had a child,” she glared at Solen as she exited the city jail.
Scarlett held her chest and took a deep breath before smiling and looking up at the sky. “It’s over,” she whispered.
“Mom!”
She smiled and ran to their car. She leaned back and just stared out the window, since she could breathe because there was nothing heavy on her chest.
Their lives will be more peaceful from now on.
