Chapter 65: Chapter 65

12 years later...

SCARLETT’s POV

“Mom, we’ve arrived!”

“OMG! I can’t wait to go shopping!”

“Are you going shopping again?”

“KJ!”

Because I could hear Carrie, and Tara’s voices, I removed my sleeping mask. We left the country a long time ago and are now returning. Because Claire is pregnant with her third child and wants me to be her youngest child’s godmother. Even though she was old, she still had a child.

I assumed Erin was the one she was going to marry because my cousin and Claire had an affair as well, but their relationship didn’t work out, so it was best for them to just split up. Erin is glad that Ander is now with him. Gosh, Erin and Rios are the same. Poor uncle Eros, no one will even extend his race.

“Mom.”

In shock, I jumped and hit Agustin. I’m also confused why he’s taller than his father. He is obviously not 18 years old.

“Are you all right?”

I nodded and gripped his arm. He also did not inherit his father’s mischievousness, as it appears, he inherited it from brother Carter. I sighed and shook my head, wondering what I did when they were growing up. TSK.

And I looked at my two girls, who knew nothing but shopping. When Dad discovers what the three are up to, he will scold me. Tara discovered everything, and her father agreed with us as well because Tara’s father is already married.

“Scarlett!”

When I raised my head, I noticed Lux waving at me. I grinned as I noticed they were all here and we were leaving the airport. I smiled at them as they hugged me. They don’t appear to have changed, but their aging is obvious.

By the way, I’m 43 years old now. We also took a little longer to return to the Philippines because I was responsible for our businesses in France. I didn’t expect our properties to be so big.

“Daddy.”

I came to a halt, but only smiled at him. We reunited. I forgot about the past because our lives are so happy right now. I can’t say I’ve forgiven my sister, but I know she’s happy now, wherever she is because her kid is doing well.

Furthermore, I gave him a warm hug. “I told you not to come pick us up,” I stated. He smiled at me and opened the door for us.

I sighed and told my cousins that we were going somewhere else and that we would meet at the mansion before I climbed into the passenger seat and our children followed.

“Where do you want to attend college?” he asked. Carrie and Tara exchanged grins.

“Where you and mom go to college,” they both giggled, making my cheeks flush. Dominic took my hand in his.

“A wise decision.”

I noticed Agustin, who was quiet and staring out the window at the places we passed. I gave Dominic a genuine smile.

“I’d like to go somewhere,” I stated. He raised an eyebrow at me, but nodded because he seemed to understand where I was going.

At a cemetery.

I just wanted to see my mother, grandparents, and Sophia. I haven’t been back since we left the country. We bought flowers at the cemetery before going to the museum that Dad had built for them.

We went to Sophia first, and when I heard Tara cry, I grabbed her shoulder.

“Don’t worry about Tara, she’s in good condition, and I’m sure you’ll be proud of her,” I said, and Tara smiled back.

I let Tara talk to her mother, and then we went to my grandparents’ place. Dad preferred to bury grandfather near my grandmother’s graves because it was also grandfather’s last will in the testament to them.

“I haven’t apologized to you yet, chairman, but thank you so much for all of your sacrifices for all of us. Don’t worry because the next generation will carry on what you started. We will not let you down.” I said as I wiped my tears, then set the flower down and lit a candle to pray for them.

After speaking with the chairman and grandma, I went to Mom’s Museum, but I stopped because there was someone inside.

“Chairman.”

When he looked in my direction, I burst into tears and ran inside to hug him. Dad's age is obvious, but I think he’s still good-looking.

“How was your flight?” he asked. I smiled as we both looked at Mom’s tombstone.

“It went well, dad. They picked us up, and it appeared that there was a party at the mansion,” I laughed. He also laughed and messed with my hair.

“We’re getting old, but it’s nice to go back in time, except for our family’s fight with Ferdinand.”

Dad and I both laughed because it’s true that it’s nice to go back in time, but it’s better not to go back in time because it always ends in tragedy. I’ve forgotten everything that has happened, so we should focus more on the present.

“Mom, we have a good life, so I know you’re happy as well. Thank you for everything, and we’ll see each other soon,” I said as I stood up. I looked at my father, who was standing up and holding his cane. So, I was helping him in leaving Mom’s museum.

We were greeted by his secretary and nurse.

“See you at the mansion, dad,” I said, kissing his cheek and turning away.

“Let’s go home,” Dominic said, and I nodded and held his hand, but before we left, I smiled at their graves.

I didn’t believe that everything would be okay in the end, despite what had happened. My cousins have their families and are content with their lives. Our family still has many foes, but they are losing.

Many people wanted to dethrone Dad, but they failed because we wanted to grow our family even more. We did not become greedy, nor did we become arrogant, nor did we trample on others.

What happened in my life taught me that using anger or revenge to achieve our goals is unnecessary. Because we do not always win.

Moreover, don’t be greedy or jealous because it will not end well. We must learn to be content with what we can or what we have. Let us not use other people solely for our benefit, as this will not help us either.

We must be wise in all we do. Because not everything around you is real. Have faith in your abilities and believe that you can overcome your difficulties. Let us learn to stand on our feet.

So far—

“Can we go now, Mom? I’m hungry!”

I glared at Agustin, who hadn’t let me finish what I was saying.

“When did you learn that?” I asked, my eyes narrowed. He grinned but said nothing.

I sighed and shook my head, but I also smiled because my son looked so young.

So, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to read my story. Until we meet again.

I, Scarlett Venice Knight—Stone, shall bid you farewell.
