Chapter 60: Chapter 60

I was about to return to our hotel room when my name was called.

“Scarlett.”

When I saw him, I turned and frowned. “You said we’d just meet at the fiesta,” I said. He shook his head and grins.

“Damn that bitch! She follows me everywhere!”

I came to a halt because it seems he was bringing up Sophia. That's why, when I saw Jaguar, he was with someone else, just so Sophia wouldn’t think anything was mistaken. She’s annoying!

I just sighed and shook my head. “So, what do you need from me?” I asked. He turned around and motioned for me to follow him into a hotel room.

I raised an eyebrow, but I just followed him in case he had a new lead to help Erin escape.

I examined the room because it resembled the one he had booked. “Hmm…” I sat on the bed, staring at him.

“Do you have a new lead to help my cousin in escaping?” I asked. He sat on the sofa as raising his hand.

“Hmm… before that, I know you heard everything from Andre.”

I came to a halt and nodded to him. Is there anything else I need to know from him?

“So I will tell you everything,” he grinned. “… about their plan.”

My eyes widened as I stared at Jaguar, who was grinning at me. “About their plan? Woah!” I raised my hand because I couldn’t seem to understand everything he was saying.

I still don’t completely trust him because this could be a trick of his that gets us all in trouble. Furthermore, I can’t make the same mistake twice because I don’t want my cousins to be harmed because of my mistakes.

“You are thinking wrong. I will not deceive you just for my benefit. What will I gain if I do that?”

I blinked and stared at him, not knowing what was on his mind, but I needed to remain calm, so he didn’t get ahead of me.

“I don’t trust you, so why should I listen to you?” I clenched my fists and asked. Now I wonder why I needed his help. “Please, if you just tell a lie, I will kill you,” I said as I stood up.

“Whoa! Easy little tiger! Don’t worry, I won’t tell a lie just to achieve my goal; it’s difficult for me either,” he grinned as he sat down again.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, wondering if it was appropriate to speak to him. I don’t even need him anymore because we can save Erin. Because of them, our mission is taking far too long. TSK.

“Ugh!” I sat back on the bed, causing Jaguar to smirk even more because he knew I required information as well.

F-ck! Remind me, I’m going to kill him later.

“So, tell me everything,” I said, making Jaguar grin even wider.

“OK!" he said, grinning and winking at me, but I rolled my eyes. “He asked me to introduce myself to you to derail all your plans,” he said as he loosened his necktie and reached for the wine. “So, I’ll do what he says, but that changed when I found out about you.”

I swallowed and combed my hair, knowing that they would derail all of my plans.

“That’s why I agreed to be the old man’s puppet, so I can achieve my goal of exacting revenge against them all.” He grinned, his fists clenched. “I also know what they did to destroy you.”

I smirked and averted my gaze. He knows, of course because he is one of them. F-ck.

“But you’re mistaken, Scarlett. Solen is not the one who ruined you, and she is not the one who killed your employee.”

I was stunned and frowned at Jaguar, wondering if he was joking, but he didn’t even smile like he usually does when he’s happy, and it firmly fixed his eyes on me.

“N-no… Y-you’re lying; no one else will do it but Solen Madrid! She is the reason Ken died!” I yelled at her and got out of bed.

Jaguar shook his head, “Believe me or not, Solen is not the one who did this,” he said, frowning.

“That’s what I thought at first, but I looked into Mr. Aguilar’s death and who was responsible…” he shook his head again. “It was not Solen who gave the order; yes, she was part of the plan at first, but it surprised her when she found out about it.”

I laughed and shook my head at him. “I know what kind of affair you have with Solen, but don’t act as if you care about her just to cover up her crime!” I yelled at him as I turned to leave.

“This is nonsense; I should not have listened to you; I thought we only had one goal, but I was mistaken,” I said, glaring at him. “I don’t need your help; I can kill them on my own,” I said, beginning to walk towards the door when I heard what he said.

“But, Sophia did.”

My eyes widened, and I noticed my fist trembling as I gripped the doorknob.

“Sophia was the one who planned it just to destroy you in front of everyone, and she was also the first to deviate from their plan out of jealousy.”

I shook my head at him and took a deep breath before returning my gaze. “Enough with the lies; she is a bad person, but I know my sister; she can’t do that.”

“She can,”

fuck you, Jaguar!

I’m not defending Sophia, but I know she can’t do it and won’t commit a crime.

“Listen to me, Scarlett.”

I shook my head and bit my lower lip, unable to bear the thought that he might be right and that Sophia had something to do with what’s happening to me. We may be enemies, but she’s still my sister.

“Scarlett,” he said, grabbing my shoulder, but I just bowed. “Open your eyes. This is reality; you don’t know about your half-sister,” he said as he wiped my tears away. “Solen Madrid, your father’s ex-girlfriend, is Sophia’s proper mother.”

My eyes widened as I looked up at Jaguar, who nodded and let me sit back down on the bed.

I was right that Solen was Sophia’s biological mother.

“W-wait… I-I don’t know what to say!” I stammered, my headache worsening because of what I’d heard about what he said.

“You don’t have to, just listen to me,” he said as he returned to the sofa. “Sophia is to blame for everything, including the death of Mr. Aguilar.”

I remained silent, my fists clenched.

“She did that to warn your family that they are stronger than you,” he shook his head. “And their plan is to take everything you have because they know you will take over your grandfather’s throne, so Sophia made a way for them to get hold of the chairman and give her everything.”

That b*tch! She killed innocent people! She did this to the family who sheltered her! F-ck!

“And, by the way, Tara is not Dominic’s child.”

Because of what he said, I was stunned, and my eyes widened in shock. “What…?” I sat down on the bed and shook my head in response to what I had heard.

Dominic didn’t get Sophia pregnant? Tara, isn't she his daughter?

“I know it’s confusing, but… That’s the truth.”

While crying, I shook my head and burst out laughing. I never expected to hear this from him. They made us toys. They made us look foolish.

“Do you remember the Knights’ celebration?”

I was simply stunned because I knew what had occurred that night. And because I wasn’t feeling well, only Dominic attended to me, and Dominic changed after that.

“They had nothing happened to them. Sophia only used that night to blackmail Dominic and pursue her desires.”

I looked at Jaguar, who nodded. “How did you know all that?!?” I exclaimed, and he grinned and sighed.

“When Sophia was drunk, she told me everything,” he explained. I shook my head and took a deep breath.

“You made us fools, you made us toys!” I yelled as I ran to punch him. He touched his jaw but didn’t say anything. “Why are you doing this to me?!? What did we do to you? You got other people involved!”

My fists were shaking as I prepared to punch him again, but I stopped myself because my anger can’t do anything anymore because so much has happened, and Ken’s life will not be brought back if I put my anger first.

“That’s why I’m here to help you, and I told you everything because I want to know something,” he explained as he wiped his lips with his thumb. “Ferdinand is not an easy opponent. He’s a psycho. He will do everything to bring down chairman Knight. So, you need me.”

And I chuckle and shake my head. “I don't need any of your help! I can—”

“No, he’ll involve your children! They’ve come up with a plan to kidnap the chairman and your children!”

I came to a halt and turned to face him. “W-what do you mean?” I asked as I took a step back.

My children cannot be involved! No way!

“They’ll use them against you! You know you’re their target, so your grandfather made you leave just to keep you safe!”

What he said stunned me even more. “What did you say? How do you know what my grandfather is up to?!?”

He stood up and shook his head. “Chairman Knight knows everything about your life, Scarlett. He knows about your marriage to Dominic, and he knows where you’re hiding. He knows everything, Scarlett,” he said as he approached me, but I backed away. “The chairman isn’t mad at you; he just wanted to protect you and your children.”

My head shook. “No, that’s not true!” I screamed, holding my head. I can't take it anymore.

“Everything I said is true; the chairman knows you disobeyed the law that was meant for you. He was there the day you gave birth to the twins, and he protects you from afar.”

“Enough.”

“Scarlett, listen. The chairman did that to protect you and your entire family,” he explained. “Rios Knight knows this because he was the first to learn of the chairman’s plans. I discovered this while investigating you and your family; he, too, has plans.”

I shook my head and cried because I found grandpa wasn’t mad about what I had done. Furthermore, I don’t know what to think.

“He agreed to be enslaved to protect the clan and the throne that is yours. You must be strong because what you are about to face will not be easy. You must be wiser, so they do not get ahead of you,” said Jaguar, grabbing my shoulder. I raised my gaze to him. “I want to protect you from him, and I would like to know what happened to Lady Josephine and who murdered her.”

I came to a halt and frowned. “For Grandma?”

He turned his back on me and looked away, so I approached him because I didn’t understand why he wanted to know what happened to Grandma.

“Jaguar, what does grandma have to do with anything?” I asked. He didn’t respond, so I grabbed his arms. “Tell me! What happened to Grandma’s death?!” I tightened my grip on his arm. “Please answer me!”

“Scarlett.”

I shook my head and moved back. “I’d wanted to know the truth for a long time, but they wouldn’t tell me; they all kept their mouths shut.” I bit my lower lip and backed away. “I’ve had enough, but I’m still going to do what I want.”

“Scarlett…”

I raised my hand to stop him talking because everything I had heard was enough for me. Only one person can provide an answer to my question… “Grandpa,” I whispered as I exited the suite, and Jaguar didn’t seem to follow because he knew others couldn’t hear us talking.

I went straight to the 9th floor, where our suite was located, but I came to a halt when I saw Dominic, so I took a deep breath and fixed myself, so he wouldn’t know what had happened.

“Scarlett.”

I avoided him and just passed in front of him because I couldn’t face him, especially after Jaguar revealed Thara was not really his daughter. We are both victims of Sophia’s betrayal.

“Hey, why are you avoiding me?”

I bit my lip and went straight to our suite, but he still followed me.

“Hey.” He pulled me towards him, but I just bowed because maybe when I saw his face, I might suddenly cry in front of him.

“Are you okay?” he asked. I still don’t look at him. “Look at me,” he said, touching my cheek and lifting my face, but I turned away.

“What happened?”

I shook my head and bit my lip, trying to keep from crying in front of him.

“Hey, Scarlett, are you okay?”

I nodded and took his hand away from my cheek. “I-I’m fine,” I said as I clenched my fist and pushed him away, but he pulled me in and hugged me.

“You can tell me anything; don’t carry it alone; that's why I’m here,” he said as he kissed my forehead, causing me to close my eyes and bite my lip. “I apologize for everything I’ve done,” he added.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes before pushing him again. “Go back to Manila and protect our children,” I said as I walked away from him.

I looked at him, and my eyes softening, but it wasn’t the right time to make amends. I should also avoid from expressing my emotions because doing so will jeopardize our mission.

I sighed as I walked into our suite. I grinned as I turned to face my cousins.

“We have to go back,” I said, approaching Claire to examine the monitor. “I need to speak with the chairman because only he can answer my question,” I said.

I came to a halt when I realized they weren’t talking, and I looked at them again. “What? I said, we need to go back before something bad happens, so we can figure out who Ferdinand Smith was.”

None of them spoke, and they just stared at me, so I frowned because they didn’t seem to hear what I said. What the f-ck?

“What the hell is going on?!?” I exclaimed. Rios caught my attention. “I need a chopper, Rios. I have to go back,” I said, but no one acted on it, and I became more irritated.

“I said…” I punched the table. “… we have to go back!” I yelled. They blinked and seemed to wake up because of what I did.

“It’s too late, Scarlett.”

I frowned. What are they saying?

“The chairman is on his way…”

My eyes widened, and I shook my head. “No, no, no!” I exclaimed as I grabbed my phone to call my brother Carter, who did not answer. “F-ck!” I walked around in front of my cousins, biting my fingernails.

The chairman cannot come to San Martín because Ferdinand has a large staff spread throughout the area. It’s a trap!

“What's the matter, Scarlett?”

When I remembered what Jaguar had told me, I came to a halt. “… they have a plan to kidnap the chairman…” My eyes widened as I looked at my cousins.

“Call them! The chairman cannot come here! It’s a trap!” I yelled, pushing Claire to look at the monitor in our hands.

“W-what?”

I gave them a death stare. “Don’t ask too many questions; just do as I say!”

“No, please tell us what’s going on!”

I took a deep breath and looked at each of them. “I heard they’re going to use the chairman against me!”

They gasped and cursed, so they obeyed my command to call the Knights. I was just staring at Lux while on the phone because I was getting nervous. I’m not certain, but Ferdinand could be working against me. F-ck!

“S-Scarlett…”

I came to a halt and looked at Lux, but my eyes widened when I saw her crying.

“Lux.”

She shook her head and wiped her tears away. “The chairman has gone missing…”

My eyes widen… F-ck.
