Chapter 48: Chapter 48
SCARLETT’s POV
“F-ck!” I got up, holding my head because I didn’t know what had happened to me.
We were in their hideout the last I remember, and Erin saved me. “Damn it, Erin, what are you doing?”
“Oh, you’re awake.”
As I realized who had spoken, I turned to face him. “What did you do to me?” I asked as I stood up.
He smiled, but I locked my gaze on him. “What are you going to do with Erin?”
He smiled again before sighing. “Don’t worry, he’s fine.”
I clenched my fists and bit my lower lip. “They called you Master J earlier, which means you’re working with Solen Madrid!”
I approached him to confront him because I didn’t know him and he wasn’t on Solen’s staff. I also checked each of their members, but he wasn’t on the list.
“Who are you?!?”
As he poured wine into the glass, he laughed.
“Where am I? What happened to me? Are you planning on killing me?!?” I screamed and turned to punch him, but he grabbed my wrist quickly.
He gave me a serious look. “I will not hurt you, unlike your husband did,” he said. I came to a halt and frowned at him.
“W-what? H-how did…” I widened my eyes as I realized what he had said. “Are you trying to investigate me? Who are you, huh?!”
He raised his glass and sat on the sofa, grinning. “Of course. I know everything about you, Scarlett.”
I took a step back and sat back down on the bed. How did he know who I was? What information does he have on me?
I looked at him, but he was staring at me, so I raised an eyebrow. “Who are you? Do I know you?” I asked.
“Jaguar… My name is Jaguar…” he grinned, looking down at the glass he was holding.
I rolled my eyes, shook my head, and took a deep breath because he was smart enough to introduce himself to me.
“Like in Jaguar?”
He turned to face me and laughed, making my cheeks flush. I don’t know, but it might relate him to Solen. TSK.
“Like a Jaguar. J-A-G-U-A—”
To accept what he was saying, I closed my eyes and raised my hand. “OK! You don’t have to spell your name, crazy!” I combed my hair and stood up again. “I don’t trust you; what I need to do is get Erin back from them.” I said.
We exchanged glances, but I avoided it because I had a strange feeling about him. I don’t trust him, either. When I saw him stand up and approach me, I came to a halt and backed away, so he couldn’t get too close. It even surprised me when he caressed my cheek, making me uncomfortable.
“You can trust on me, Scarlett; I’m the only one you can trust.”
I slapped his hand and pushed him away. “You’re one of them! You planned this. Take me to Solen Madrid. This is what she wants,” I said.
His lips lifted, as if he was mocking me. He's a jerk! If he ever touches me again, I will kill him!
“As you are, you are one of us.”
I frowned because I couldn’t understand what he was saying, but he grinned and pointed to the one on my arm, so I looked down and lifted my arm’s sleeve… It surprised me to find that I had a similar mark to Ken.
“What the f-ck is this?!?” I shout, rubbing my tattoo. “F-ck! Remove it!”
Rios can't see this because he'll be surprised why I have something like this. “Damn it!” And continued to rub the tattoo, but my arm felt swollen.
I clenched my fist and closed my eyes. I will not allow him to play with me; then, I will kill him first.
I took a deep breath and turned to face him. “You did it; what are you planning?”
He raised his hand and shook his head, saying, “Yeah, I did that because you—”
I rushed at him before he could finish speaking. “F-ck you!”
I kicked him, but he dodged my kick, so I turned to punch him, but he moved faster than me and dodged every punch I threw.
Damn it! I don’t believe he has more experience than I do! He’s good.
I came to a halt panting because catching him was difficult. It surprised me when he picked me up and tossed me onto the bed. When he touched my wrist, my eyes widened.
“Damn it! Asshole! Let me go!” I yelled as I struggled in his grip, but he was too strong for me. “F-ck you! I swear I’ll kill you!”
He didn’t pay attention to my struggle as long as he was looking at me directly. I swallowed and averted my gaze.
“You’ll need my help if you want to drag them down.”
It surprised me by what he said, and I stared at him as his face expressionless.
“If you aim to know who’s behind all of this nonsense shits…” he said as he moved his face closer to mine. “You need me. No, you have to trust me. I know your plan. You intend to join their group, so I have marked you so no one will suspect. You don’t have to thank me at all,” he winked at me.
I glared at him and kicked him away from me. I don't require his help.
“No, I’ll do it on my own; I don’t need your help,” I said, turning away from him because what he was saying made no sense. TSK!
Who is he to lead me? He’s an asshole!
“And how about Erin Knight?”
I stopped going out, but I never looked back at him.
“Or chairman Knight? I know you know everything.”
I clenched my fist and noticed it trembled. Furthermore, I took a deep breath and returned my gaze to him.
“That’s not true. Chairman Knight is not a traitor,” I said emphatically, my jaw tightening as I prepared to kill him.
“But, he is…”
“He's not.” I said as I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails almost dug into my palm. “Listen, if all you want to do is destroy us, you’ll never win!” I said. I then took my jacket and exited his room.
My grandfather is not a traitor…. Right?
He could never do that to me, even if I failed as his granddaughter. What Jaguar says has no effect on me. I can save Erin on my own. I don’t ask for help. This is my issue, not theirs.
“Ms. Knight,”
When a car stopped in front of me, I came to a sudden stop.
“Master directed I send you to the hotel.”
I looked over at him on the terrace. He smiled and raised the glass in his hand. Before getting into his car, I glared at him and raised my middle finger.
“I’m his secretary, Miss.”
I nodded, but something came to mind…. “So you investigated about me?” I asked. In the mirror, we looked at each other and he nodded.
I spotted the mark on his neck that my arm had, so I held my arm.
“He can help you.”
When I looked at Jaguar’s secretary, he nodded.
“He knows everything there is to know about Solen and the mastermind.”
I frowned because I remembered their mastermind’s name. That information is in Carter’s files.
“Hmm… mastermind,” I muttered. “Is that Ferdinand Smith?”
He nodded once again.
“He knows the details of the hideout, as well as how to bring their group down.”
I cocked my brow at him and leaned back. “Why does he have to do that? He’s one of them,” I said, clutching my arm.
“No, he isn’t. He left the organization without their knowledge a long time ago, and he used them for money and, I guess, for revenge.”
“For revenge?”
What does revenge have to do with me? It’s not my concern because I have my mission.
“He doesn’t like what they’re doing, either, and he wasn’t like that before. He always obeyed the rules, always listened to his father… until he found out about you.”
W-wait… Father? Is it possible that Jaguar’s father is the mastermind?
When I found out, my eyes widened. What the f-ck is going on? I had a feeling! Did I mention they were playing against the Knights?
“Are you listening to me?”
I blinked and fixed my gaze on Jaguar’s secretary.
“It has nothing to do with me. Jaguar is fighting for something, and I have nothing to do with that. I don’t even know him!” I grumbled, leaning back again.
What is the point of him telling me this story? For what purpose? To gain sympathy? TSK!
“When he heard about the Knights, he discovered everything, including everything about you, and it only got worse when Solen killed his ex-fiance.”
He will not stop until I know everything. We’re enemies. He should not tell his master's life story.
I just came to a halt when I remembered what he said and looked at him. “Solen what?”
He smiled, but it was clear he was still sad.
“Solen murdered her because she was jealous.”
Because I was confused, I remained silent while frowning. So, what am I doing in their lives?
“We’ve arrived,”
I looked outside and saw that I was just outside the hotel. “Thank you,” I said as I stepped out of the car and patted him on the shoulder.
I was about to enter when Jaguar’s secretary called me.
“You forgot about this.”
My eyes widened as he lifted the folder, and I looked around before taking it from him.
“I swear, you’ll need his help one day,” he said as he closed the car window. “Ah, wait!” he shouted, opening the window again and throwing the alcohol.
I frowned. “What is it for?” I asked. He grinned and drove away.
I only looked at the car before wrapping the folder in my jacket and scratching my head as I walked up to our hotel room. I came to a halt when I remembered the alcohol Jaguar’s secretary had given me…. W-wait… Don’t tell me…
“Damn you, you asshole!”
***
“You’re a traitor; Rios told me everything.”
“What are you talking about? I don’t have time for this.”
“Oh, come on, why are you doing this? Scarlett put her life on the line to protect our family!”
“Please, Carter…”
“No, you hurt her! You hurt our family! I can’t believe you!”
Chairman Knight could only sigh.
“Stop it.”
Carter shook his head and didn’t stop because, even though he knew what their grandfather was up to, he couldn’t believe it, especially since so many people were involved in the mess.
“How do you sleep at night, and how do you talk to us like this?”
The chairman is becoming irritated because his eldest grandson cannot stop.
“I told you, enough!”
Carter didn’t pay attention to the chairman because he just wanted to hear from his grandfather.
“You don’t have to do this, chairman! You’ve got us!” Carter shouted. The chairman could not speak and trembled as he took his medicine.
“Grandpa, why do you have to hurt her?!?”
Carter became even more irritated as the chairman remained silent.
He also blocked the chairperson’s plans several times to ensure that it harmed no one in the end, but he failed because of his grandfather’s pride, so the plans continued, causing even more trouble.
“How many times do I have to block your plans? How many times do I have to save you? He’s back! You should tell me everything! I’m your eldest grandson!”
The chairman was stunned even more and turned away from Carter because now was not the time to say everything.
“You’re not mad at Scarlett; you’re not mad at her breaking our family law; but, grandfather, why did you have to hurt her? Why—”
“Because I have to!” chairman Knight shouted, his hands trembling. “I have to do this to protect you all! To protect Scarlett! To keep her safe from him.”
Carter came to a halt and shut his mouth because this was all he needed to hear from their chairman.
“Do you think I want to do this? Do you think I want to harm my granddaughter?”
Carter smirked, knowing that their grandfather would never harm one of his grandchildren.
“We are Knights, chairman; you taught us to be brave and strong, not cowards, and here we are.”
The chairman just rubbed his face and shook his head. “You don’t understand, do you?”
“Grandpa—”
“Stop her.”
Carter came to a halt and frowned. “What?”
The chairman looked at him. “Stop her, don’t put everything on the line; I can do this alone, and I will protect all of you until the day I die.”
Carter grinned. “We can’t stop her, she’s starting,” he said, turning away from his grandfather and clenching his fist before taking a deep breath.
“Fix your mess. Tell her how much you love her. Scarlett is waiting for you,” he finally told his grandfather before leaving his room.
Chairman Knight sat on his bed, looked at a picture of his beloved wife, and smiled bitterly. “Please help me; I don’t know what to do.”
