Chapter 41: Chapter 41
DOMINIC’s POV
I woke up with the sun’s rays on my skin, so I closed my eyes and held my head while suffering from a hangover.
Damn it!
My heart raced as I realized Scarlett wasn’t by my side.
“Damn!”
I jumped out of bed and dressed. Last night felt like the last moment we talked. I also assume she will leave me again.
“Oh, son?”
When I saw Mom, I went down the stairs and approached her right away.
“Have you seen Scarlett?”
Mom came to a halt, startled. “Huh?”
I frowned at her reaction, wondering if mom was up to something.
“Have you seen her?” I asked, shaking mom, but she couldn't look at me. “Mom!” I yelled.
She sighed and smiled before touching my cheek.
“Let’s eat. I’ll make you something to eat,” she said as she caressed my cheek and proceeded to the dining area.
I just followed her with a frown, since she was odd.
“Do you know where Scarlett is? Isn’t she back at the mansion?”
I was hoping mom would respond, but she didn’t because she was still taking care of my food.
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll go to them myself,” I said, and was about to turn away when she spoke up.
“She left.”
When I looked at her, I was stunned and frowned. “Of course, Mom, she’ll go back to them—”
“I said, she left,” said mom as she turned to face me. “Stop thinking about her. They’ve got a problem now. Don’t get involved, Austin.” she said as she continued to serve my breakfast.
I shook my head and smacked the table, startling her.
“What do you know, mom? She can’t leave me alone again!” I yelled, fists clenched.
Scarlett cannot leave me alone. I promised Carter that if I didn’t mend my relationship with Scarlett… The Knights would take her away from me, and that will not happen.
“Austin, please listen to me,” said Mom as she held my hand. “There’s a issue with the Knights right now, and we can’t interfere,” she tightened her grip on my hand. “I know everything, Dominic, especially what you did to Scarlett because you married the youngest of the Knights!”
I clenched my fists in surprise when I noticed Mom crying.
“M-mom…”
“Are you insane?!? You know what Knights can do to you!” she shook her head and glared at me, causing me to become even more silent. “That’s why you don’t want to marry Sophia because you’re still married to Scarlett! What are you doing?!? You’re involved with the siblings, Dominic.”
I came to a halt and just stared at mom because I admit my mistake, and I accept whatever my punishment will be to atone for all my sins against Scarlett.
“You know, Sharlene is mad because of what you did, huh?!? She can destroy your grandfather’s business with what you did to her only daughter!”
Mom and I were both shocked by what she said, so I turned to face her.
“Wait, what do you mean, mom?” I was stunned by my question. “Don’t tell me Sophia isn’t Aunt Sharlene’s daughter?” I asked, my eyes widening. F-ck!
She nodded and wiped her tears. “Yes, Sophia is an illegitimate child, a result of Vernon’s sin.”
I cussed a lot because having an affair with someone else is a sin in the law of the Knights, especially if you have an illegitimate child. Damn it!
“That’s why we can’t be involved in whatever their family has,” said Mom, taking my hand once again. “I don’t want you to get hurt, Dominic.”
I clenched my fist and turned my gaze away from Mom. How does Scarlett feel? Is she aware of the truth?
Dominic, you’re a jerk! Scarlett needs you by her side even more now.
I turned to face Mom and hugged her. “I’m sorry, mom, but… Scarlett need me,” I said as I kissed her on the cheek.
Mom’s eyes widened. “D-Dominic!”
I smiled as I left the mansion. I need to speak with Scarlett and find out how she feels.
“S-Sir Dominic.”
I nodded at their guard and proceeded to the mansion entrance, but it opened and Scarlett’s mother saw me, so I bowed.
“A-Aunt…”
She smirked. “You still may refer to me as that, don’t you?”
I came to a halt and bowed even more.
“Stone, what are you doing here?”
I swallowed and turned to face her. “I-I need to speak with Scarlett.”
Her smile faded, and she glared at me, pressuring me to swallow.
“Why are you looking for my daughter? Haven’t you done enough to her? You can have Sophia, but not my daughter,” she said as my jaw clenched.
No. Scarlett is what I want.
“Mrs. Knight, I-I need to talk to her. We still have a lot to talk about,” I said, despite my fear of her deep stares.
I had to stand in front of Scarlett’s mother because I love her.
She smirked and snapped her finger. Everything happened too fast because I was already on the floor, beating by them, when someone stepped on my back. I groaned and bit my lower lip.
“You know the punishment for deceiving the clan, and the worst for the youngest of the fourth generation; you know the consequences of what you did to my daughter,” she said as her staff stepped on my back.
My fist tightened, and I forced myself to look at her.
“I know what I did wrong, so I’ll accept whatever punishment they uphold; I love Scarlett and that will never change,” I said, struggling to speak because of the person behind me.
My chest got heavy, but I pushed myself to look at her.
I will risk my life to stand by everything I say. Yes, I made a mistake, but I’m ready to make things right for Scarlett and our children.
“What are you doing, Sharlene?!?”
I tried to guess who it was, and I wasn’t mistaken… Sophia was the one who approached me.
“Oh, what are you doing here? You’re no longer a knight, right?” aunt Sharlene asks Sophia, who glared at her.
“Let Dominic go!” Sophia yelled, pushing the man standing behind me. I coughed as Sophia supported me.
“Are you okay, babe?” she asked, turning to face aunt Sharlene. “You bitch! Don’t touch him! Dominic cheated on Scarlett because she’s boring!” yelled Sophia. I shook her hand and frowned.
“Like mother, like daughter, a cheater.”
Sophia glared at aunt Sharlene even more. “That’s why daddy could fool you because you’re boring! If Scarlett hadn’t been a miracle, daddy would have abandoned you a long time ago!”
Aunt Sharlene came to a halt, but something took aback me when she slapped Sophia and grabbed her by the jaw, which shocked Sophia as well.
“Do you think you’d be where you are now if it wasn’t for me?” aunt Sharlene smirked. “If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have lived here in the mansion or accepted by the entire Knight; I know who your mother is; don’t make me mad, Sophia,” said aunt Sharlene. Sophia fought back and pushed aunt Sharlene’s hand away.
F-ck! This isn’t why I came here. I clenched my fists and made myself stand. I sighed and walked over to Sophia.
“I’ve been telling you for a long time to stay away from me,” I said. She approached me after turning to face me.
“D-Dominic…”
I was about to say something else when aunt Sharlene interrupted me.
“Regardless of what you do, Sophia, you will always be an illegitimate child. What you did to my daughter, and what you are going through now, is not enough; if I were you, I would just keep quiet before there is trouble.”
Aunt Sharlene looked at me but said nothing, so she turned to go inside. “Send them out and don’t let anyone in.”
My eyes widened as I followed Aunt Sharlene, but her staff blocked my way. I fought them, but they were much stronger.
“Where is Scarlett? I’ll look for her!” I yelled, smiling, as Aunt Sharlene came to a halt and looked at me.
“She’s disappeared, and I’m not sure what’s on my daughter’s mind, so if you see her…” she sighed. “She must be stopped.”
She went straight inside, so I wouldn’t have to fight their men. All I need to do is find Scarlett and prevent her from doing what she’s about to do.
She can’t get her hands filthy.
“Dominic.”
I came to a halt and looked at Sophia, who was pursuing me.
“Didn’t I tell you to stay away from us? Have mercy on Thara,” I said, about to walk away when she stopped me.
“She left you again, Dominic.” she yelled, and my fists clenched as she approached me and smiled. “I’ll never leave you, Dominic. I’ll always be by your side and I love you so much,” she said as she reached for my cheek. I pushed her hand away.
“Love makes you sick, Sophia; I thought you were wise; I believed you would have supported Scarlett and us before, but I was foolish in trusting you,” I said, shaking my head.
She wasn’t always like this.
“There are many other men out there, Sophia; don’t force yourself on me because I will never love you, no matter what you do or say.” I opened my car door and looked at her again.
“Because I loved no one but Scarlett; don’t waste your life just for me,” I said as I patted her on the shoulder as I got into my car.
I took a deep breath and drove away in my car. I’m hoping she’ll reconsider everything I’ve said because she can’t rely on me because I’ve only ever loved Scarlett. She is the only woman I love, and she is the only woman who may change me.
I tried hard to like Sophia, but I couldn’t. I made a mistake, but I never repeat the same mistake. Once is enough.
I pursed my lips and took another deep breath.
“Wait for me, Scarlett; I will not let you suffer.”

I couldn’t find Scarlett for a few days, so I went back and forth to Claire’s mansion, but even she didn’t know where Scarlett had gone with my children.
I know she’s still here, and they haven’t gone far, but I’m not sure where to look for him.
“Sir…”
I looked up and waited for my staff to say something.
“We haven’t found Ms. Scarlett yet,” he said, bowing his head.
I leaned back and slammed into the table.
“Don’t stop until you find her!” I yelled as they nodded and bowed their way out of my office.
“Damn it!” I yelled, punching my table. “Scarlett, where are you?”
