Chapter 39: Chapter 39

“Everyone, good evening…”

A woman wearing a mask appeared. When she saw the Knights with emotionless eyes just staring at her, she smiled, but she was looking for someone but couldn’t find her.

“Welcome to my event! My name is Solen Madrid from Madrid Enterprise,” she said, as she turned to face her guests tonight. “I know many of you are wondering who the woman you are seeing dressed as Solen Madrid is. She just pretended to be me, probably because she was greedy, but don’t worry, I am the real Solen Madrid. Enjoy the party!”

People applauded and congratulated her. She only smiled, but she was more interested in the Knights.

“Oh, there she is,” said the woman who was drinking outside the event.

“She even made up lies to conceal her true colors!”

The woman smirked and focused on Solen Madrid, who was excited about what was going to happen tonight.

***

“I’m not certain, but I have a bad feeling right now,” said Lux.

“Yeah, she took a long time to come out, and all she’s going to say is a lie, TSK.”

Lux sighed because they would rather not hear what Solen Madrid had to say because she was only telling lies.

Rianne locked her gaze on Solen because every gesture she made seemed familiar to her.

“So, her name is Solen,”

Lux and Ara came to a halt and looked at their cousin.

“Do you know who she is?”

“She’s familiar, but I’m not sure where I saw her,” said Rianne, shaking her head and leaning back in her chair.

Lux and Ara stared at Rianne, confused by how Solen Madrid had become familiar with her.

***

“Damn it! She’s old, but she’s still sexy,” said Eron as his twin kicked him.

“Are you going to date an old lady, Eron Knight?” asked Aaron. Eron raised an eyebrow and ignored his twin's sayings.

“Hi!”

The twins came to a halt because Solen Madrid was in front of them.

They caught sight of their cousins, who nodded to them, and smirked because it was time for them to entertain Solen Madrid.

“Enjoy the party, boys,” said Solen, grabbing Aaron’s arm and shaking her hand.

“We’ll appreciate it if you show your true colors, Solen Madrid,” said Aaron.

Solen came to a halt, but she laughed and hit the young man.

“You’re making a joke!” Solen Madrid yelled, even though that an Aaron Knight already annoyed her.

“So, it is you…”

She looked at Aaron’s twin, Eron, who was smiling at her.

“You’re old, but you’re sexy; do you want some f-ck buddies?” asked Eron as he smirked.

Solen’s eyes widened because of what Eron asked her. She clenched her fist, but she maintained her elegant posture.

“I’m old,” she chuckled. “You look like my son; don’t make a joke like this,” she said, laughing, but nervous.

Solen rolled her eyes because she thought she could attract the twins, but not that they could speak better than her.

“A Knight indeed,” she whispered.

Aaron raised his eyebrow. “What?”

It surprised her, she blurted out what she was supposed to be thinking.

“Enjoy!”

She winked at them despite wearing a mask and moved to another table because she thought she’d suffocate with the Knights.

Solen took a deep breath, knowing that she shouldn’t be nervous because she was stronger than before when the Knights crushed on her being.

The twins smirked as they watched Solen Madrid interacts with the other guests.

“She’s weak! She thought she could attract us!” Eron laughed, shaking his head because he hadn’t expected Solen to be this frail.

“Yeah…”

Eron came to a halt when Aaron fell and hit the table, his eyes widening, and he shook his twin’s shoulder.

“What the f-ck!”

He wakes Aaron, but it doesn’t move, so he uses his phone to call his cousins.

“Aaron passed out! Damn! What am I going to do?” he asked his cousins, causing his other cousins to look around and stand up because Aaron was unconscious.

“Damn it! What happened—!"

Eron came to a halt when he realized what had happened and turned to Solen Madrid, who was smiling and talking to others.

Then he looked again at Aaron, who was already pale, and cussed, as he lifted the sleeve of his twin’s polo shirt to reveal that his twin had been poisoned.

“Damn it!”

He was assisting Aaron in leaving the event and nodded to his cousins, who were worried about them.

He drove his twin and remembered Solen Madrid holding him, but he wondered how Aaron it poisoned by the old woman’s touch.

Eron clenched his fists and stared at his twin brother.

He slammed on the brakes and drove the car towards the hospital.

Even though he wanted to go back and blow up the place, but knew he couldn’t because it would only jeopardize their plans.

“Hold on! Don’t die!”

He slammed on the brakes again and drove the car, so they could arrive at the hospital as soon as possible.

***

They were so preoccupied that they didn’t notice what happened to Aaron if Eron hadn’t spoken to them.

“Aaron! Oh my goodness!”

Ara touched her head because they lost sight of Solen. "Damn it! We lost focus on the target!" she grumbled, punching the table.

“What should we do? What is brother Carter’s plan?!?” asked Rianne, her voice shaking.

They turned to Carter, who was sitting calmly and not taking his gaze away from Solen Madrid.

“Damn you, Solen!”

Ara stared at Solen, who continued to laugh as if nothing had happened.

***

“Aaron, fuck!”

“Relax, brother.”

Erin glared at Rios, who remained calm.

“Do you understand?!? He was poisoned!”

Rios glared at his older brother. “I told you to calm down! Aaron won’t wake up if you just complain about it! Let’s keep going with the plan because that’s what Aaron wants too!” he said in response to Erin’s rage.

“Don’t worry, he won’t die.”

Erin clenched his fist because it irritated him that his brother remained calm even when Aaron was in danger.

“Just make sure, or I’ll take back everything you have!” said Erin, pointing at Rios, who smirked.

“Sure, whatever.”

Rios crossed his arms calmly and smirked at Solen Madrid.

***

“What the f-ck!”

“I know!”

“What are we going to do?!?”

Arthur clenched his fist because he didn't know what to do.

It all happened, and they did not know what would happen to their cousin.

“I’m not certain! It’s a mess! Aish!”

Arthur had only messed up his hair.

“How come brother Carter is still calm?”

They turned to look at Carter, who was still sitting and speaking with the other guests.

“Damn it!”

Arthur leaned back in his chair, although they wanted to accompany the twins to the hospital, but couldn’t because it would jeopardize their entire plan.

“SANDER, did you notice who did it?!?”

Sander shook his head and looked at the monitor where the poison came from, but he saw nothing unusual.

“I noticed nothing unusual."

“And how about Solen Madrid?”

Sander shook his head again because he had missed what Solen Madrid had done.

“It’s impossible that the poison came from her hand because I know what it used; it was a syringe from a gun,” said Sander, returning his gaze to the monitor where Aaron and Eron were.

Sandro walked around behind Sander, slamming the table.

“And Brother Carter is just calm.”

They came to a halt, confused why Carter remained so calm.

“Yeah… he doesn’t seem to know what happened to Aaron.”

They exchanged glances but said nothing; they observed the guests at the event.

***

“Hi, girls!” Solen said as the three women turned to face her.

Ara and Rianne both raised an eyebrow at her.

“Did you have a good time?”

“Ah, yes,” Lux replied with a smile as she leaned back in her chair.

Solen smiled. “All right, girls, have fun!"

Ara smirked and scrutinized Solen from head to toe. “No matter what you hide, you’ll still stink.”

Solen came to a halt and stared at Ara, who was smirking at her, but she laughed, although her hand wanted to slap Ara because of her mouth.

“Your laugh has no pose,” said Rianne, rolling her eyes at Solen, who was mad, but she had to stand up for being nice in front of them.

“Ah, Ms. Madrid, don’t worry about them; go! Have fun at your party.” Lux said, waving at her.

“Whatever,” Solen whispered, trying to smile.

They smirked and waved to her.

Solen had not gone far when they heard a shout and noticed two business executives already lying on the table.

The Knights frowned and looked around to see if there were any other suspicious people, but they didn’t notice anyone else.

They connected their earpieces.

“WHAT’s up, Sander? Why don’t you have an update?!?” Erin yelled into his earbuds.

They were covering their ears because of Erin’s voice.

“What the hell, Erin!”

“We don’t know why there is a system error, but it appears that someone is blocking us, TSK.” said Sander.

Except for Rios, who didn’t care what he was hearing, and Carter, who had his earbud turned off, they all held their forehead.

“Did you see what happened to Aaron?” asked Aiden.

“Nothing else is suspicious; it’s impossible from Solen Madrid!” Sander said.

They just shook their heads and turned to look at Carter.

“Aren’t you curious about Carter, who is still very calm?”

“That’s right; does he know what happened to Aaron?”

“It seems like he is unaware.”

“Stay focused on our mission.”

Hill, who had just spoken, had stunned them because Carter was sitting next to him.

“Brother Hill!”

Hill shook his head, as well as they sighed, but said nothing else.

They will just wait for Carter’s move and focus on their mission, despite their concern for their cousin, who is currently in the hospital.

And it was as if nothing had happened while the business executives who had collapsed on the table were unconscious, and Solen didn’t seem to care.

And Solen had the chance to meet Carter Knight, the eldest of the knights.

“Hello, Mr. Carter Knight!”

Carter and Hill came to a halt and turned to face Solen Madrid, who was smiling at them.

“Hello there.”

Solen smirked and walked over to Carter’s table. “Did you have a good time at the party?”

Carter smirked as he nodded to Solen.

“Of course, and it’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Solen Madrid.”

Carter stood up, as did their cousin because they were waiting for Carter’s signal.

“Oh, nice to meet you.”

They were both shaking their hands.

“Thank you for inviting us,” said Carter, turning to his cousins and directing them to their table.

“No problem. The Knights have an enormous family and are well known in business, so I have invited you to my event; thank you for coming,”

Solen bowed to pay respect for Carter.

And while the person who was working with Solen Madrid to plan the event for the Knights smirked.

“This is it!”

She drank wine while monitoring their every move.

While the two women standing outside the event are ecstatic about what is going on.

“The time has come.”

“Alright, let’s go.”

The woman smirked and shook her head because she was excited about what was going to happen at the event.

“Can we talk about my business proposal?” Solen asked Carter, who crossing his arms.

“Oh, I won’t take your offer because I don't want to let anyone into my company,” Carter smirked.

Solen laughed and shook her head in response to what Carter was saying.

“Why, Mr. Knight? I’m a suitable business partner.”

Carter nodded and raised his brows, but… “Do you think I’m a fool not to recognize you?” smirked Carter as he approached Solen.

“Oh, Mr. Knight, what are you talking about?”

Carter smirked and leaned in close to Solen, whispering. “No matter how you change your face, I still recognize you… Soledad.”

Solen’s eyes widened, and she drew back as she noticed Carter smirking, so she gulped and laughed. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Carter’s lips only lifted because he sensed Solen’s fear.

“Let’s stop fooling around because not everyone here is your guest because the truth is they are all members of your group.”

Solen stared at Carter and clenched her fists, but she returned her gaze and smirked.

“You're correct.”

They seemed to look at Solen and waiting for a signal from Carter.

“You're right, and he's right: the fourth generation is indeed wise, unlike Scarlet Knights, whom I humiliated.”

Solen moved away from Carter, then snapped her finger, and their other guests took out weapons to aim at the Knights, but it surprised them to see the Knights also holding guns.

“I knew it.”

Carter smirked and aimed his gun at Solen, who came to a halt and backed away. But she only laughed.

“Oh, surprise!”

They also turned to face Solen.

“B-tch!” Ara screamed and was about to attack when her cousins, particularly her older brothers, intervened.

“Calm down, little sister,” Arthur told Ara.

Ara struggling to escape from her cousins’ grip and took a deep breath before attacking the person in front of her because she had been holding her anger. So, she will vent her rage on the person in front of her.

Arthur intervened, but Ara pushed him and continued to beat the man she had pulled.

“Enough already, Ara.”

Ara came to a halt when she heard Carter’s voice, so she stood up while patting her gown.

When she stood up, it pointed a gun at her head, so she smirked, but she looked at her covered in blood hand before turning to Solen.

“This is not the only thing they will go through at our hands, Solen,” she glared at the old woman. “But if I touch you with my hands… you’re dead,” said Ara. She shoved the man in front of her.

Solen chuckled. “You’re a brave little girl.”

Ara winced and turned her gaze away from Solen, worried that she would lose control and end up killing the old lady.

However, Solen was joy with what is happening with the Knights, but what she really wants to see is Scarlett and the chairperson, but they are not present.

“This is boring,” she said, but she came to a halt when Carter approached her again, this time with a gun pointed at her head.

“You’ve done a lot to the Knights, especially Scarlett; you shut down her business just to say you were ahead of her,” he smirked. “You used someone else to fool us, and you broke into Rios’ house, killing your impostor and her entire family, and you also killed Ken to keep him from talking, as well as his family,” Carter clenched his fist.

“Now tell us we are a fool.”

Solen laughed instead of being nervous.

“I’m not the one who killed my impostor; you know who I’m talking about.”

Carter sighs, knowing exactly who Solen was referring to. “Because you’re holding him, but you don’t know what’s going through his head; are you holding him, or is he holding you?”

Solen came to a halt and backed away.

“See, you don’t know what you’re up against; we're Knights, so we’re not new to this world.”

While staring at Solen, Carter's face went blank. He already knows about Solen’s actions and the old woman’s weakness, but he won’t tell his cousins because he prefers them to move on their own to protect the family.

“I poisoned your cousin!”

Carter smirked and nodded, but said nothing.

“Are you certain?”

The Knights came to a halt when they recognized the voice. Even Solen froze where she was.

All the lights went out again, leaving only the stage, so they turned to look at the person sitting on the throne, while her companions stood by her side, smirking.

“You finally showed up, Solen Madrid.”

They were smirking and shaking their heads.

Solen’s eyes widened, and she pointed to the woman sitting there. “You…!”

Carter raised an eyebrow at the woman seated on a throne.

“You came, Scarlett.”
