Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Alfonso Tommaso Pov
Looking at my phone I groaned before falling ack into my chair. Can my day get any worse? I thought.
Rubbing my temple slightly I couldn't help but worry about Rose. I thought we both had an agreement, so what's wrong? Why did she leave again? Or is something wrong? I wondered.
Trying to calm myself down first, I rubbed my temples in a circle before picking up my phone to call my guard. "I want all the guards to check every single corner around the villa; she definitely won't have gone far, and if she was taken, they will definitely still be around the estate okay." I said I was cutting the call and not waiting for the person on the other side of the phone to give me an answer.
Standing back up, I picked up my coat and phone and made my way out of the office. I ordered my secretary to cancel all my meetings for the time being before walking towards the elevator.
I was about to press the button to open the elevator when it turned on. I looked surprised at my mom, who was smiling at me inside the elevator. She stepped out and gave me a hug, which I returned, smiling at her.
"Mom, what brought you here?" I asked, looking at her, still surprised.
Oh, it's common now; is it strange for a mother to visit her son?" She asked, still smiling.
"Of course, not common; let's go inside then." I said, leading her towards the office and telling my secretary I wanted no disturbance before entering my office again.
Taking my phone out, I texted my head of security to take care of the matter for the time being and not mess things up.
I looked at my mom as my secretary placed the tea down on the coffee table at the side of my office. "So Mom, what's the matter?" I couldn't help but ask again, as I knew my mom well.
Rolling her eyes, she looked at me and said, "Oh, common son, I just came to visit, that's all." She said she was smiling, but I knew better than to fall for that smile.
Mom, I am your son. I know you more than anyone in this world right now." I said it proudly, boasting about the fact that I was close to my mom. I was always called a mom's boy, but I never really cared. I liked my mom, and to me, she was the most important person in my life, and she was the only one I had left after my dad left us alone in this world.
"Okay, okay, you got me; I was just curious about the girl you told me about." She said this, looking at me sheepishly. And I knew she was about to ask me when we could get together.
Oh, momma, if only you knew what I thought. This was a really big problem right now; how was I going to tell her that my bride is nowhere to be found and I don't even know much about her? My mom will surely have my head if she knows Im about to marry a girl just because I don't want to give up my father's fortune.
"Son, are you listening?" She was worried.
Smiling I nodded my head at he and said, "Sorry, mom, I was thinking about a business deal. What were you saying?" I asked
Rolling her eyes at me one more time, she said, "Really, son, I was talking about your wife to be and you were thinking about business again." She said this, looking at me and pouting slightly.
That's one thing about my mom: she still looks young and very beautiful; she was once a model after all; she was still considered one of the most beautiful and sophisticated women in Italy; and with all that, she was never proud.
"Sorry mom, she's doing fine." I said, smiling at her.
"I can't wait for you to get married so she can take care of you, and maybe you will listen to her and stop overworking yourself since you have refused to listen to your mother." She said it playfully, glaring at me.
"Common mom, you know I love you too much not to listen to you." Am I even getting a wife? Aren't you happy?" I asked, smiling at her.
"Of course I am, but I hope it's not because of me that you are rushing into marriage, son." She asked with a voice laced with worry.
"Of course not, mom; I am happy with who I am with now and feel like it's high time I settled down; she's not going to wait forever, right mom?" I said as I grimaced at the fact that I was lying to my mom, but I definitely could not just come straight and tell her I was about to get married because I didn't want my cousin brother to get all my father's business.
"Ohhh, okay, I also thought it was because of your father's will that you wanted to get married." But hearing you say this makes me feel relieved. She said it, blowing out a breath and smiling.
Smiling at her, I did nothing but nod my head, as I wasn't sure I wouldn't spill everything on her if I opened my mouth again.
"Anyway, I was asking if I could see your wife's son." She said this as she smiled, her eyes twinkling brightly.
Scratching my head as I tried to come up with an excuse, I smiled at her and said, "Sorry mom, but can you make it another day? I have something I want to handle today, and she's also quite busy this week." I said it mentally, praising myself for coming up with something.
"Oh, it's alright, but do let her know I would like to meet her soon, so you both need to clear your schedules, okay?" She said this while smiling before getting up and picking up her bag.
"Well, I should be on my way now; I dropped some food at your penthouse and decided to come see you." She said. I hugged her as we made our way to the elevator.
After seeing her off, I waited for my driver to come pick me up.
"Where to, sir?" he asked.
"To my villa and make it fast." I said.
