Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Rose Alexander Pov

I couldn't believe my eyes; he was really here, but what was he doing in Italy, I thought, looking at my father's friend?

Mr. Matteo was my father's friend and close business partner, but due to some issues that I don't really know about, they both decided to do their business separately.

Looking at him, I quickly ran towards him, hugging him tightly. I missed him so much; he had always come visit when I was young and buy me stuff. He was like the uncle I never had, always taking me out and trying to encourage me whenever I did well in my tests or exams.

"Darling, what's wrong? Why are you looking like this?" He asked, looking at my dejected form.

"Nothing, uncle Matteo; actually, a lot has happened, but can we get out of here for now, please?" I asked because I remembered I had a plan I had not yet achieved.

Nodding his head, he placed his suit jacket over me and took both of us into the car. Handing me a bottle of water, he looked at me as I drank it.

"Are you sure you are okay, dear?" He asked as he gave me a worried expression.

"Are you in some kind of trouble?" You can tell me anything you know." He said it with an assuring voice.

Smiling Itherly figure, it's been a long time since someone cared or worried about me in a fatherly manner. Itherly figure, it's been long someone cared or worried me in fatherly manner.

"It's nothing much, uncle. I was just trying to get to the bank to get some money as I need to get back to Canada." I said.

"Why, what's wrong, dear? Why are you in Italy in the first place?" He asked.

Wow! I couldn't help but think, he really didn't hear the news about my disappearance, did he really abandon my family completely that he doesn't know anything going on in our circle I thought.

"Nothing, uncle. Please, can we stop somewhere so I can get a new dress?" I asked, looking at him smiling.

After a while, we got to a boutique, and I went in to get a dress to change into as my laced crop top was showing everything, a part of my plan that I did not think through.

Getting a white floral dress I went into the dressing room to get changed while Uncle Matteo waited for me outside. Putting on the dress, I looked at myself in the mirror, spinning around to get a better view of the dress.

After packing my other clothes in a bag that was given to me by the boutique staff, I prepared myself to enter the dressing room to go meet Uncle Matteo when I was pushed back into the room by a man dressed in a black suit.

I was about to scream when he packed his palm over my mouth. Looking around a bit, he placed his other finger on his lips, shushing me.

"It's me, madam Lucca. I know you might not remember me well, but I once worked for your father, madam." He said this, looking at me as I tried to figure out if I knew him before. He does look familiar, though.

Removing his palm from my mouth, I raised an eyebrow at him, wondering what he wanted.

"Madam, staying here is not safe for you; there's a reason your father separated from Mr. Matteo, and staying here will only make you vulnerable to his plans." He said it in one breath, looking at me with a serious expression.

I pushed him slightly away from me, as I didn't know what exactly was going on here. What does he mean when he says my staying here will make me vulnerable? Vulnerable to what exactly? I couldn't help but think Uncle Matteo wasn't a bad man, and the last time I asked my dad what had gone wrong, he told me they had a little fight, so what exactly is this man telling me now?

I decided to voice all my thoughts out: "What exactly do you mean?" I asked.

Madam, Mr. Matteo is planning to use you for a plan he was supposed to execute while your dad was alive; you need to live here quickly, ma." He said this before straightening himself, bowing his head, and leaving.

I stood in front of the mirror inside the dressing room, trying to wrap my head around what was going on in my life. I was slowly getting frustrated. What have I done to deserve what is going on in my life? I thought.

Sitting down on the chair that was at the side of the dressing room, getting lost in my thoughts, I heard a knock coming from the way.

"Madam, are you alright in there?" I heard a staff member asking me.

Composing myself, I walked out and smiled at her before apologizing for taking so much time.

Walking towards the room where I left my uncle, I wanted to confront him. I needed an answer as to why he left me and my dad. Maybe after that I will be able to find the truth, because right now my heart refuses to believe what that body guard said. My uncle is my only hope for now.

"I want to prepare everything, Carlos; this is the once-in-a-lifetime chance we were looking for, and under no circumstances must we fail." I heard Uncle Matteo talking to someone on the phone, and deciding to eavesdrop a little before going in, I stood behind the door.

"I met her already; I could have given you the phone to talk to her; she's alive and healthy and also stupid." "I guess the old fool did not tell his daughter what really happened between us, as she looks nave."

"But that's a good thing for us; arrange the documents for Carlos fast before the world knows she's still alive; the earlier we can get everything, the earlier we eliminate her and have what we want." He said this before chuckling darkly, making a shiver run down my spine.

Turning a little, I saw the body guard from before looking at me; he nodded his head, making me understand he meant I had to leave here.
