One year later

Aurin & Mikaeel was sitting in front of the doctor having nervous expressions on their faces. Aurin was holding Mikaeel's hand tightly and she was looking pale and too worried. Her heart was pumping blood abruptly like anytime it will burst.

" Doctor, you told us to meet urgently," Mikaeel asked the doctor.

The doctor answered hesitating," I got Mrs Sheikh's report a few hours ago."

" Is everything alright?" Aurin asked with a panicked voice.

She just hopes everything is fine with her. It's been a year since she & Mikaeel are trying for a child. But, every time they returned empty-handed. Recently the doctor ran a whole body check-up of Aurin and now the report is in the doctor's hand.

" Umm.....I know the thing I am going to tell you is going to be very devastating for you. So, I request you guys to.............." The doctor couldn't finish his sentence when Mikaeel almost yelled," Please, stop talking in a puzzle. What's wrong? Say clearly."

Aurin was already panicked but after hearing the doctor's suspicious words she tightened the hold on Mikaeel's hand. Her eyes were getting blurry already.

" Well, the thing is Mrs Sheikh has a very rare condition. I mean to say her immune system produces antigens against your sperms. That's why she isn't getting pregnant. Her immune system identifies your sperm as a harmful substance and attacks it instantly. As a result, your sperms die even before they reach the egg," The doctor explained and Aurin was literally crying already.

Mikaeel asked impatiently," Isn't there any treatment for this? I mean can't she get pregnant through IVF or other............"

" It's not the only issue, Mr Sheikh," The doctor interrupted and a chill ran down Mikaeel's spine.

The doctor said further," Mrs Sheikh's uterus is unfit to carry a baby. Even if she gets pregnant she will face miscarriage around 3/4 months. So, I am sorry to say that Mrs Sheikh can't be a mother."

( A/N- I am not a doctor so the medical things described here are completely fictional. I didn't go with details since I have no knowledge about such problems and I don't have time to research. So, I wrote whatever came to my mind. No need to take it seriously. )

Those words left the doctor's mouth and Aurin became a statue. She felt like the whole world has collapsed in front of her. Tears were already flowing down her cheeks and she was numb to utter even a single word. The hold on Mikaeel's hand got loosened immediately because Aurin pressed both of her hands over her mouth to control her outburst.

Mikaeel was also devastated by the news but looking at Aurin's face he felt like someone has burned his heart. He never cries but after seeing Aurin's situation he felt his eyes getting blurry.

" Ex...cuse....me," Aurin uttered with great difficulty and ran outside the doctor's room.

Mikaeel also followed her when he heard the doctor saying from behind," You can opt for surrogacy."

Mikaeel wasn't in the state to hear anything. He couldn't even imagine what's Aurin going through. He knew that no consoling words can put ointment on Aurin's wounds. But, at least he can try to console her. She needs emotional support and he is going to be her emotional support.

Very soon they reached their house and after returning there Aurin burst into hysterical sobs. Sitting in one corner of the room she hugged her knees and continued hiccupping. The doctor's words kept ringing inside her mind making her situation worse. Burying her head on her knees she kept mourning.

Entering the room Mikaeel found Aurin crying. Getting close to her he sat right in front of her. Sensing his presence Aurin looked at him with teary eyes. Both of them shared a painful look and Aurin couldn't control herself anymore. She hugged Mikaeel tightly and burst into tears.

" I......can't.....be......a.....mother...." Aurin uttered with great difficulty.

Mikaeel answered patting her back," Shh......shh......Wifey......Don't cry........ It's not always necessary to have children for happiness."

" I am barren. Your mother is right," Aurin let out shaking in Mikaeel's embrace.

Breaking the hug he cupped her face between his palms and made her look into his eyes. With his slender fingers, he wiped away her tears but her tears were not stopping at all.

" Stop calling yourself barren. I know it's painful for you. But, try to understand wifey. Children are not always the key to happiness. There are hundreds of couples who don't have any kids. Don't they stay happy together?" Mikaeel asked but Aurin couldn't answer anything.

Mikaeel said further," Wifey, I am ok with whatever the situation is. For me, you are important only. Nothing else. I don't have any problem if we don't have any kids. We can stay happy without kids. Moreover, we will think about further treatment. Please, try to understand."

" How much eager was I for a baby! A little Mikaeel in my arms but now everything is gone. My dream of becoming a mother is shattered into pieces," Aurin hiccupped lowering her head.

Holding her face gently he made her look into his eyes again and said trying to convince her," Wifey, I will never say anything to you for a baby. I will always be there for you. Don't think that you are alone. So what you can't be a mother naturally. There are many options available for you to become a mother. We can adopt kids. There are hundreds of children in the orphanage who are waiting for being adopted. We can opt for surrogacy. Don't think too much. Keep your trust in the Almighty. He will show us a path very soon."

Hearing his words Aurin was overwhelmed. She couldn't control her feelings and hugged Mikaeel again. He also circled his hands around her protectively. And, For the next few hours, Aurin kept shedding tears in Mikaeel's arms while he continued consoling her patiently.

A few days later

It was early in the morning and Aurin was sleeping peacefully in Mikaeel's embrace. She was devastated after knowing that she can't be a mother. She fell into serious depression. But, Mikaeel's emotional support helped her overcome this sorrow temporarily.

Opening her eyes she yawned and noticed Mikaeel looking at her already. She gave him a sweet smile that he returned placing a soft kiss on her forehead. Aurin closed her eyes feeling his lips touching her skin gently.

" Eid Mubarak, wifey," Mikaeel said since today is Eid day.

Aurin replied smiling," Eid Mubarak, hubby."

" Wifey, it's been days since we went on vacation. What about a vacation this weekend? Only you & me," Mikaeel asked caressing her cheeks gently and Aurin agreed instantly.

The whole day passed pretty fast for Aurin & Mikaeel. They celebrated Eid happily with their family members. Aurin only contacted her sisters but didn't bother to ask for her parents. She is still angry with them.

It was nighttime and everyone was sited for dinner. The environment was overwhelming with all the family members. Everyone was laughing seeing Amal was struggling with her naughty son. He is the apple of everyone's eyes in this house.

" Amal, give him to me. He will eat from his aunty's hands. Won't you, Emir?" Aurin asked affectionately pulling Emir in her lap.

Everything was going so well until Mikaeel's mother decided to ruin everyone's mood. Out of now where she snatched Emir from Aurin's hands and ordered Amal to go back to her room. As an obedient daughter-in-law, Amal obliged her instantly.

No sooner had Amal left the dining area than Mikaeel's mother taunted Aurin," Instead of feeding other people's kids, why don't you have your own kid?"

" Shut your mouth," Jamshed scolded Farnaaz but she wasn't in the mood to stop.

She taunted further," So, it's true that you are barren."

Aurin's eyes got watery instantly after hearing Farnaaz. She lowered her eyes because the word barren has opened up the wound in her chest. Clutching the ham of her dress she looked down and controlled her outburst.

" You know what you are a bad omen in my house. You can't give children then how Mikaeel is going to.............Farnaaz was interrupted by Miraz.

Miraz said sounding pissed off," Ammi, at least for today keep your mouth close. It's not her fault. When will you understand this simple thing? There could be problem with Mikaeel bhai too."

" Simple thing!! So, are you guys telling me to keep quiet and see Mikaeel childless for the rest of his life? This girl is lucky that she has gotten a husband like my son. Just looking at Mikaeel's face I have been tolerating this girl. Otherwise, I would have thrown her outside of my house a long ago," Farnaaz sprouted with pure hatred and the next scenery rooted everyone in their place.

Letting out an animalistic growl Mikaeel held the dining table and flipped it with full force. All the plates, glasses and everything that was on the table fell to the ground creating a loud sound. The sound was so intense that for a few seconds no one could hear anything. After that, it was pin-drop silence and everyone became scared looking at Mikaeel's face.

" Enough!!! Do you guys hear me? It's enough," MIkaeel roared like a lion and everyone lost their voice.

After that, Mikaeel grabbed Aurin's hand and dragged her to their room. Just in a few minutes he shoved their necessary items in a suitcase and forwarded his legs to leave. Aurin only followed him since she was way too shocked to react.

Mikaeel was walking towards the main gate while his family members were trying to stop him. Specifically, Farnaaz tried to stop him by shedding some emotional tears but Mikaeel has already decided.

" I am sorry, Miki. I won't say something like that again," Farnaaz apologised when Mikaeel turned his face behind.

" I told you Ammi that if you say something stupid again then that day will be the last day of mine in this house. So, today is the last day of mine in this house," Mikaeel announced and left his house with Aurin.
