Chapter 51: Chapter 51
I didn't know how I would treat him so I decided to just be civilized. I opened the main door and entered the mansion with him behind me.
"The kitchen is on that way," I said. "You can go ahead and eat whatever you want there."
I was about to go to my room when he cleared his throat. I turned to him.
"What?" I said a bit harshly.
"Where are you going? Are you leaving me here alone?" He said.
"You said you're hungry, right?" I said. "Then go ahead and eat; it's way past breakfast. I'll just go upstairs and take a quick shower and then we can talk."
He nodded. "Alright," He pointed to the kitchen and turned to me. "I'll just see what I'll have."
I nodded and then started walking towards the stairs. I felt so sticky that I wasn't comfortable facing him. I hurriedly went to my room and took a quick shower just as I told him. I decided to wear a simple shirt and an overlapped skirt-short just to feel a little at home. I also blow-dried my hair and put it into a ponytail and before I left my room, I sprayed a little perfume on me. This is just to make myself presentable in front of him; nothing else.
I went to the kitchen and saw him having a glass of wine. Wine? It was just noon and he's already having some wine; very unusual. He turned to me and I saw him roamed his eyes on my body. I cleared my throat and he turned to look me in the eyes.
"Did you eat already?" I said. He nodded.
"Thank you," He said.
"So, where do you want us to talk?" I said.
"Wherever is comfortable for you," He said.
"Alright, we can have the lanai," I said and lead the way for the both of us. He followed me into the lanai which was facing the garden. It's a good spot, especially during the daytime.
I sat on one of the chairs and motioned for him to sit across me and he did.
"So, I'm all ears now," I said. "What did mom tell you?"
"Well, he called me early today and asked me if we'll be coming home together." He said.
"And? What did you tell her?" I said.
"She sounded so happy," He said. "She said that you already told her that we have settled our issues already. She said that we should go and visit them."
"Oh jeez," I said. "Yeah, about that, we talked last night and it didn't go the way I planned it to be. She got it all wrong."
"So, I didn't know what I would tell her so I said yes. I told her that we'll be coming home together and we'll visit them tomorrow." He said.
"What?!" I said. "Why did you do that?"
"Why? Would you prefer it if I told her the truth?" He said.
"What? That you just fooled me?" I said. "Why? Are you afraid that she would know and hate you too?"
"I told you, it wasn't like that Cam," He said. "Everything that I have shown and said to you was true. Believe me-"
"Believe you? After what you did to me? Are you even for real?" I said. "You admitted everything to me! How could I ever believe in whatever you have to say again?"
"Because I am telling the truth, okay?" He said. "It was true that we planned on doing it to you but it all changed, okay? Everything changed because I fell in love with you! I didn't expect it to happen but it did!"
"Liar!" I said. "Aren't you tired of hurting me? What else do you want? You've already broken me!"
"I want you back, okay? I love you and I want you in my life, Cam." He said so sincerely that I almost got carried away. No Cam, don't be such a fool!
I calmed myself and tried to shrug off what I felt and am feeling for him. I cleared my throat before I spoke. I needed to change the topic and not sway from what we were here to talk about. "I don't want my Mom to know about this. It would break her heart and I don't want that to happen. I also don't want her to see Dad in a different way other than what she sees now. I don't want their relationship to be ruined."
"And what are you planning to do?" He said.
"I don't want her to know anything about what you did to me," I said. "When the right time comes; I want to be the one to tell her. We could just pretend that things didn't work out and that we decided to go on our separate ways. I don't want her to know about what happened to Riley's mom. She's kind and I know that it would make her feel guilty even though it wasn't her fault and I don't want that for her."
"And what about us in the meantime?" He said. I felt like he was too careful with his words not to make me mad again.
"We just have to pretend that we're still together," I said. "Just until I can assure that Mom can handle the news about us getting an annulment; if that's fine with you. Mom has grown a fondness towards you and I don't think she can handle the fact at this time."
He nodded. "So, are y-you still going to live at our house?"
"No," I said. "I'll look for an apartment or a condo but I can't go back to your house, that's yours."
"That is insane," He said. "You can still live with me. How can we make them believe that we're still together when you're not living in our house?"
"Alright," I said. He was right; that would start up the gossip of us breaking up. Wade is a famous businessman and the fact that his wife isn't leaving with him would be a huge fuss. "But we are definitely not staying in the same room, okay?"
He nodded. "Whatever you want," He said. "So, are we going back home together?"
"I don't know; I already asked Erin to come and pick me up," I said.
"Call her and tell her not to come anymore. That is just a waste of time and effort; I'm going back home tonight so you can come with me instead." He said.
He's being bossy again but I thought of what he said and he was right again. Erin might be exhausted from work and I think I can handle a few hours on the road with this man.
"Alright," I said. "I'll go with you tonight."
"Good." He said. "I have to leave now. I still have to pack my things. I'll see you later then?"
I nodded. "See you later,"
I watched him leave before I went to my room and packed my things as well. This is going to be the longest drive in my life.
