Chapter 46: Chapter 46

I was silently enjoying my meal all throughout dinner while Vera and Wade were talking as if they have known each other for quite a while already. I appreciate how Wade talks to Vera; very polite and full of interest. I was surprised that they get along really well. I mean, he is a ruthless CEO after all.

"So you are staying at a hotel not far from here?" Vera said as she looked at me. What? It wasn't my fault that he's staying in a hotel; it was his choice. "That is a real hassle."

"Yup," He said. "But it's fine; they have good services there."

"Yeah, people here are usually generous and hospitable." She said. "You don't have to worry about that."

"Yeah, you're right. Anyway, I have to commend you; the foods are amazingly delicious. Thank you for inviting me in." He said as he motioned to the food on the table. "I can't remember the last time that I've had a meal as good as this."

"Oh, don't mention it," She said. "You are not a stranger to us and I am also grateful that you brought Miss Cami home. I thought something bad happened to her out there."

I cleared my throat. Wade nodded and put down his spoon. I was done and I think he was too. He looked at me as if he was checking if I was fine with him being around. I nodded and offered him a glass of juice. I was fine with him being here and having dinner with me too. He saved me earlier and dinner wouldn't be enough to thank him for that. Although, I didn't forget what he did to me which is the main reason why I am here in this place.

"Thanks," He said as he accepted it.

I only nodded again and drink my juice too. I wasn't halfway through it when Wade said that he had to leave already.

"You are leaving already?" Vera said.

"Yeah, I really have to go," Wade said and nodded at me. "It's getting late as well. You need to rest too."

"Will you visit here again?" Vera said.

Wade looked at me before he answered her. "I-I really don't know yet; we'll see."

"Well, you should tell Miss Cami in advance so I can prepare foods for you." She said.

"Thank you," He said and stood up.

"I'll see you out," I said and stood with him.

Vera nodded at us. "Have a safe drive back to your hotel."

"I will," Wade said and together we walked towards the main door. I didn't know how I would feel. Yes, I wanted him to leave but why do I felt like a part of me was sad that he was leaving already? Jeez Cam, figure out what you really wanted! This man hurt you and broke you into a million pieces so why would it even be a hard decision to make? Stay away from him!

"Thank you for letting me stay over for dinner." He said when we were already in front of his car. It was only parked at the driveway near the main door.

"Don't thank me; it was Vera's idea after all," I said coldly.

"But still, thank you for letting me," He said. "It has been a wonderful dinner."

"Why are you staying here? I mean, at the hotel? Aren't you going home? Don't you even have to work?" I said.

"I do," He said and faced me. "But I needed to see you and I really wanted to make sure that you're fine that's why I came here."

I barked out a sarcastic laugh. Now I couldn't help myself any longer. I needed to let my anger out. "I'm fine?" I said. "How could you think that I'm fine? Really? After what you did you really think that I'm fine?"

"Cami, I know I've hurt you, big time," He said. "But if you could just let me explain-"

"No, don't bother, and don't even waste your time," I said. "I already heard everything and there's nothing you could say that would erase the pain you caused me."

"Cam, let me explain," He said. "Please-"

"I just have one question to ask you and I want you to answer me honestly," I said and looked at him in the eyes. "Did you really plan on making me fall for you and then leave me after?"

He lowered his gaze and I felt my heart sank. "Yes, but-"

I shook my head as tears were falling down my cheeks. "Well, you won, your plan worked out perfectly. Congratulations!"

"But please, it's not what you think it is," He said. "I was-"

"Of course it doesn't," I said as I shook my head. "I heard everything Wade! I was there! It broke my heart knowing that the person I love doesn't love me back. It felt like a knife was stabbed in my heart when I heard your plans and how you succeeded in hurting me. You have no idea how painful that was!"

"Cami, please, that was before," He said. "I love you now, please believe me."

"No, no, I don't know what to believe anymore," I said. "Before or now, it doesn't matter. I don't trust you anymore. Once is enough, Wade."

He came closer to me and tried to hold my hands but I pushed him away. "Don't!" I said. "Don't you ever touch me! I hate you! I hate you so much!"

"Camierre, please calm down, and let's talk about this." He said.

"No," I said. "Leave!"

"Cam-" He said.

"Leave now!" I yelled and turned my back on him. I hurriedly went to the door and closed it. I CRIED. I cried harder. Hearing them talk about it was painful but I never thought that hearing it straight from him would felt like I am stabbed a couple of times. Why does he even have to come here and make me remember all the bad things that he did to me?

I saw Vera and he walked towards me. She offered a hug and I didn't hesitate on running to her arms. I hugged her as I cried over her shoulders. I don't know but I felt comfortable with her. She is like a second Mom to me. She's warm and very comforting.

"It's okay, it's going to be okay," She said as she kept on rubbing my back up and down.

"It hurts, Vera," I said. "It really hurts a lot."

"Just let it all out and it's going to be okay, trust me." She said.

"Thank you," I said as I kept on hugging her. How did my life turn out to be like this?
