Chapter 47: Chapter 47

"Here," Vera said as she handed me a glass of water. "Drink some so you'll feel better."

"Thank you," I said and sipped on it.

We were still at the receiving area and she has been comforting me for the last minutes here. She has been patient with me. Wade already drove off and I have been left with a broken heart again. I didn't know that the confrontation would hurt like this but what hurts me the most was the fact that he admitted their plans in front of me. It felt like a dagger was thrown in my heart a couple of times. However, I still don't understand why despite everything that he did, my heart still beats for him. I guess they're right; love never really fades that easily. I am mad at him but I don't know why I also felt something else when I saw him again. This is a terrible feeling!

"Would you like to tell me what happened?" She said. "I mean, that is if you just want to talk about it; no pressures at all, just keep in mind that I am here to listen."

I nodded. I have only known Vera for just a small period of time now but I am already comfortable with her presence. I don't know but I just feel at ease whenever she's around. In times like this, when I could no longer talk to my parents, she and Erin are the only ones I can rely on.

"We had a fight," I said.

"Well," She said. "Fighting is normal for married couples. If couples don't fight, they aren't normal. You know, it is part of getting married. So, don't worry; everything is going to be fine."

"No, you don't get it," I said. "We aren't married; he is not my husband."

"What?! I thought he was your husband?" She said. "Erin said that you are here because you are avoiding your husband and I thought that that was him."

Here goes another long story to tell. I didn't want to keep this thing to myself while I'm here so I decided to share it with her. I told her everything; from the beginning up to where I discovered everything.

"Wow, I can't believe you went through all that heartache." She said. "But I'm just wondering; why is he here? Did he follow you?"

"I don't know why he's here," I said. "He said he loves me,"

"What?! He did?" She said. "Maybe that's the reason why he's here."

I nodded. "But I don't believe him anymore, Vera," I said. "I don't want to be caught in his trap anymore. I know he's just making that up to get me."

"He came all the way here for you. What if he's telling the truth?" She said. "What if he really has learned to love you truthfully?"

"It doesn't matter to me," I said. "Besides, if he really loves me, he would tell me everything. He lied to me, Vera. He made me look like a fool and I can't let myself be that fool again. I know he was just lying to get me again and continue their plans; as if I would fall for the same tricks again."

"Did he explain his side to you?" She said. "Maybe this is just a misunderstanding. I saw the way he looked at you Miss Cami; it was full of love and adoration. I know because that is how my husband looks at me and I know that he loves me so much. The way I see it; he came here to win you again."

"He doesn't love nor adores me and I don't think there is anything left to explain. You are wrong." I said. "I heard him myself and he even confessed to me that making me fall for him and then leave me hanging was their plan."

"That is a terrible thing." She said. "I'm sorry that you had to go through all that. I can't imagine how that was for you."

"I cried it all out and I thought that a new environment would make me forget all the pain but I was wrong," I said. "When I saw him again, it was like everything came back to me. The pain, the feelings, everything that I tried to push further away within me, they all came rushing back."

"Maybe what you need is closure," She said. "I think what you have to do is to face this once and for all. You know you can never solve a problem by running away from it, right?"

"What do you mean?" I said. I gave my full attention to her.

"I think you should talk to him and your parents especially to your Dad, just to clear things and to start over again." She said.

"You really think so?" I said. "I mean, that is a difficult thing to do."

"Yes," She said. "I mean, you cannot hide here forever, you know. At some point, you really have to face this. It's better if you do it early so you can move on with your life."

"I know but I just thought of coming here to have space away from all of this," I said. "I needed the time to think of what I should do."

"Are you sure that space is what you really need?" She said. "You cannot stop living your life because you got your heart broken, dear. You have to accept it and move forward. You are still young and a lot of things are in store for you. You just have to believe that these are happening because something great is about to be given to you."

"How?" I said and tears were falling on my cheeks yet again. "How can I ever move on from this?"

"The truth, dear," She said. "You have to face the truth and that will set you free."

"What if I can't handle this?" I said. "You know, this is hard for me."

"I don't think you can't," She said with a smile. "I have only known you for a short period of time but I can already see that you are a strong woman. You can do it."

I smiled even though I was crying. How can this woman, who I barely know, make me feel like this? It was like she was an angel sent from the heavens above to enlighten me. Should I take her advice and go back home? Am I ready to face the things that I fear? Am I Ready to face Dad? Am I ready to face Riley? And am I ready to face my heartbreaker once again?
