Chapter 43: Chapter 43
I felt like a have a strange feeling about this cab driver. It was past thirty minutes of driving but we weren't able to reach home. I wondered why since earlier it only took thirty minutes for the driver to bring me to the mall. I looked around but all I can see were darkness and a few road lights. This road isn't even familiar to me. Where are we? I couldn't help myself and asked the cab driver.
"Excuse me; I think you got the wrong way. This doesn't look like it would lead me home." I said.
"No, this is the right way." The cab driver said. His voice was thick and kinda suspicious. Am I in trouble now? Jeez, I hope not.
"Wait," I said as I took my phone off my bag. "I'll just call my friend and she'll take care of me."
"No!" He said a bit loudly. Now, I know I am in real danger. What is wrong with this man? Is he a psycho?
"What do you mean?" I said in a panic. "Can you stop the car? You can drop me in here. I can manage myself."
"Just sit tight, Miss, because I will bring you to your home. We just need to do a little stopover." He said and he sounded really creepy. Stopover? Oh my God! I can't believe that there are still bad cab drivers until today.
"Stop the car right now or I'll call the police," I said bravely but he only laughed.
"There's no signal in this place." He said. I looked at my phone and he was right. Where is this place? Why can't I get a signal? I looked outside the window and thought of jumping out but I immediately brushed that thought away. He was driving fast and I would break my bones if I do that.
"What do you want from me?" I said. "Do you want money? I can give that to you. Please, just let me go."
He laughed and I could see in the mirror that he was kind of amused. "Of course I want your money; who doesn't?" He said.
"Then I'll give you money," I said. "I'll give you all of my money, just please stop the car and let me go."
"But I want something else too," He said and smirked. No, no, this is not good.
"Please, don't do this," I said. "Where are you taking me?"
"To paradise, baby," He said. "And you'll have a taste of heaven,"
What?! This man is crazy! I cannot believe this is happening to me right now. Of all people, why did I have to ride in this man's cab?
I was panicking while I thought of what I could do to escape. I mean, there could be a way, right?
He abruptly stopped somewhere and I could see a small house from inside the car. Is this where he's taking me all along? I tried to open my door so I can run but it was locked. He locked it. He pulled me into the front seat and opened the door to his side. He pulled me out of the car as held my hand so tight that it hurts a lot. This man is insane! He can't do this to me!
"Let go of me!" I screamed at the top of my lung. "Help! Help me!"
"Shut up!" He said and tightened his hold on me more. "Shut up or else I'm going to punch you in your stomach and that would make you passed out. Do you want that?"
I kept on shaking my head and screamed.
"Hey! It hurts! Let go of me!" I continued screaming while he kept on pulling me into the house. I was crying in pain and frustration because I know that once I get into that house, I wouldn't like what he would to me. I kept on struggling so he had a hard time pulling me.
I was about to give up in exhaustion when we heard movements in the surrounding. I looked around but didn't saw anyone. It was probably just my imagination; thinking that someone would come and save me from my misery. Oh dear God! How did I get to be so unlucky in life?
"What was that?" He said. Wait; did he hear what I heard too? So, I wasn't just imagining things.
Before I could even take another look around, I heard a voice from behind us. It was a voice that I didn't want to hear but at this point, I was more than happy to hear it. I couldn't be any happier upon hearing his voice.
"Let go of her," Wade said, and even from the minimal light from the house, I could clearly see him. He was furious as he looked at the man who was holding me.
"Come on man," The cab driver said. "This has nothing to do with you so please leave."
"You're wrong," Wade said in a baritone and controlled voice. "I have everything to do with her so if you still want to live, you'll let her go now!"
"Oh, so you want her too? Oh please, dude, I got her first. You can have her after me." The man said and laughed wickedly.
"On the count of three, I want you to let go of her or else you'll be dead!" Wade said and his men appeared everywhere. We were surrounded and they were carrying guns. "One!"
"What the hell!" The man said. He looked terrified and let go of me. He even pushed me so I fell to the ground before he ran away. What a jackass! Was that even necessary?
"Cami!" Wade said as he ran fast towards me. "Get him!" He ordered his men.
I tried to get up but I was too weak and I was trembling. Wade came to me and helped me sat down. What the hell just happened? Why is he suddenly here? Was he following me all along?
"Are you alright?" He asked me as he inspects my body.
I couldn't say a word so I just nodded.
"Come on, we need to get you home." He said as he scooped me in a bridal style as he walked to his car. I wanted him to let go of me but I must admit, now is not the time to be stubborn. I really just wanted to get out of this place.
I was terrified of what happened. I thought that something terrible was about to happen to me. Good thing that Wade was here. He came when I least expect it. Wait, what is he doing here? How did he find out that I was here?
