Chapter 67: Chapter 67

Alex, who had been frequent in visiting the study since Mia went back home, was searching for answers to how the demon can be awakened and how to destroy it forever. But he wasn't getting anything out of the scroll.

He stormed out of the library in frustration, with the words in the scroll ringing in his ears. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. His father had known all along about the demon and the orbs portrait, and yet he had kept it a secret from him.

Just then, a maid told him it was time for breakfast, and she already set them down on the dining. He sat at the dining picking few spoons of food, but that wasn't what he really wanted. His mind wasn't there. He was not interested in the food he was eating.

Alex stormed out of the dining room and headed straight to his room, his heart racing with anger and betrayal. He couldn't believe what he read about the demon and the orbs portrait. He had always thought of his father as a wise and just leader, but now he saw him in a different light.

As soon as he got to his room, he slammed the door shut and threw himself on the bed. He lay there for a few moments, trying to calm himself down, but the anger and frustration kept building up inside him.

How could his father have kept something like this a secret for so long? And why had he not told him about it before? Alex knew he needed to confront his father and get some answers. But what hope did he have that his father would give him answers? When he confronted him about the hatred between both packs, he had said nothing.

Alex got up from his bed and stormed out of his room, making his way back to the room where his father was still sitting.

As he entered the room, his father looked up at him, his face expressionless. Alex took a deep breath and spoke, his voice shaking with anger. He knew he couldn't let his emotions overpower him now, and he tried to put it under control.

"How could you keep this from me, father? How could you keep something so important from your own child?" Alex asked, feeling a lump in his throat.

His father didn't say anything for a few moments. He already knew what Alex was talking about. Being the previous Alpha, he still had the power, and his guards of recent told him Alex had been very busy in the Alpha's library with Mia by his side.

They also gave him information about when they came out and how their attitudes changed towards somethings. To confirm his doubt, Mia had to visit her father. This was all because they'd found the scroll and now knew everything that happened.

His father sighed deeply, and then he finally spoke, his voice calm and measured.

"Son, I kept this from you because I thought it was for the best. The demon and the orbs are dangerous, and I didn't want to put you in harm's way," Alpha Hendrix explained.

"Protect me?" Alex spat, knitting his brows into a frown. "How is keeping such vital information from me protecting me?"

Alex shook his head, not believing what he was hearing. "That's not good enough, Father. You should have told me. I have the right to know. You could pass on your pack to me by making me the Alpha, then why didn't you tell me the truth about everything? You allowed me to lead in the blind"

His father sighed heavily, the weariness etched on his face. "I understand how you feel, Alex, but please try to see things from my perspective. I had to make some tough decisions to protect our pack, and I stand by them."

"You knew the demon was dangerous and had caused so much pain and suffering in the past. And yet, the both of you had awakened it just to gain power? Why would you risk everything for power?"

"I know, son. I know I made a mistake. And I'm sorry. But I can't change the past. All I can do is try to make things right. Now, " Hendrix stated. "That was the reason your mother and I decided to come back home when we heard about the demon awakening."

Alex wasn't satisfied with his father's explanation, and he knew that this was going to be a long and difficult road ahead. He turned on his heel and walked out of the room, his mind racing with anger and frustration.

He needed time to process everything that had happened, and he knew that he had a lot of work to do if he was going to come to terms with his father's secrets. But for now, he needed to be alone and gather his thoughts.

As he walked back to his room, he could feel the weight of the world on his shoulders, but he knew that he had to keep going. The truth was out, and he couldn't just ignore it. He had to face it head-on and figure out what his next move was going to be.

He couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal. He had always trusted his father, but now he couldn't help but wonder what other secrets he was keeping from him.

His anger was rising. He knew it was bad news for him to be too excited with emotions, but this was different he couldn't control it. He had always put his anger on check and always hid his emotions from everyone, including his parents and Mia.

But he still couldn't control it, and it kept rising as he remembered everything that just happened. His conversation with his father, his father's betrayal, everything's started coming back to his mind.

He could feel changes but couldn't pin on what was changing if it was him or the environment. He also couldn't pin what exactly was cause the changes he was feeling.
