Chapter 63: Chapter 63
Alex had returned to his room and hadn't come out since they left the Alpha's library. Mia, on the other hand, couldn't seem to process all what she had just read.
Sitting in her room, she felt uncomfortable in her skin. The air around her grew thick with tension. Her back became slick with sweat. When the room became too hot for her, she rose to her feet and strode to her balcony, trying to get cool air to calm herself down.
She hadn't been okay since she learnt about her father's deeds.
First, the kidnapping of Heartman and Nathalie. She had been hoping and praying it had nothing to do with her father, and it was a misunderstanding, and now, the spy, who made Mia more frustrated by not talking. Now, the awakening of a demon, which was all too much to take in all at once.
She needed answers, but she didn't know where to get the answers she desired.
Though it wasn't just her dad who was involved in the awakening of the demon, but her father-in-law was also among.
'Who in his right senses will send kidnappers to his in-laws, or did he forget I'm married to their son?' She asked in her head.
Mia was talking to her wolf because she didn't quite understand and really needed someone to talk to about everything.
"What's the problem with my dad? Does he want to make my life here mesrable?" She asked herself.
"Even if Alex isn't pointing fingers at me, I know some people in the pack will. How am I supposed to earn their respect and love when all traces about the kidnap of their previous Alpha and Luna led to my dad and his pack?"
"Pack members are somehow saying things, and I do not blame them. It's all because of my dad." Groaning in frustration, Mia was lost
"I just started getting closer to Alex, and now this. What was the problem with my dad? Why didn't mom tell me anything about all this?"
"Why will he agree to the elders solution if he knew his deeds would prevent me from having peace of mind here?" She asked, glancing up at the night sky with only a few stars in display.
"What do I do? Now, the spy isn't saying anything about her mission and what she's up to. What are they using as an exchange for her loyalty?"
Her wolf was silent, sitting far back in her mind, not responding to anything, Mia was hopeless.
"Maybe she was as shocked as I am."
Walking back into her room, Mia changed into another simple clothing, preparing to meet the spy in the dungeon, alone.
She wasn't sure of what to say but she hoped the spy would confess and tell them something that could help get back the queen and also know about the reason for the kidnap and what they were up to.
She was caught in a crossroad choosing between her father and her husband.
She didn't know the reason her father was going to this extent, but she knew her husband was hurt even when he didn't show it nor ask for help.
She knew she wanted to help him with her everything to make the burden lesser for him. That was why she couldn't contain her joy when he asked for her help in searching for the cause of hatred between both packs.
She was determined to go talk with the spy as to why she was working with her father.
Mia had been walking around the pack house hallway aimlessly, trying to distract herself from the recent revelations about the demon and the orbs.
She just couldn't wrap her head around everything.
As she turned a corner, she saw a figure in the distance, sneaking into the dungeon. Curiosity got the best of her, and she followed from a safe distance.
As she drew closer, she could see that it was Hendrix, Alex beta, and right-hand man. Mia creased her brows, wondering what he was doing in the dungeon and who he was meeting.
Finally, Hendrix stopped in front of a cell.
Mia hid behind a pillar, watching as Hendrix entered the cell and closed the door behind him.
he was speaking with the spy, the same one that Mia had spoken to earlier.
Mia couldn't hear what they were discussing, but she could see Hendrix and the spy talking in low voices. She wondered what they could possibly be discussing that required such secrecy. Her instincts told her that something was not right.
Mia tried to inch closer to hear their conversation, but she was too far away to hear anything. She strained her ears, hoping to catch even a whisper, but they were too far away.
She considered calling out to Hendrix but decided against it. If he was meeting with the spy in secret, there was a good chance that he didn't want to be overheard.
Mia wondered why Hendrix was meeting with the spy. Could he be a traitor? Or was he simply gathering information to protect the pack?
As Hendrix and the spy finished their conversation and parted ways, Mia quickly retreated to avoid being seen. She needed to find a way to get closer to Hendrix without arousing suspicion.
In the end, Mia decided to wait. She would bide her time and see if she could find out more about what was going on. She retreated back down the corridor, her mind racing with possibilities. Something was going on. She could feel it. And she was determined to find out what it was.
Mia made a mental note to keep a closer eye on Hendrix and to find a way to gain his trust so that she could uncover his true intentions.
As she ran, her mind raced with questions. Who was the spy working with? What were they planning? And why was Hendrix involved?
Who was the spy, and what was Hendrix doing with them? Was he working with the enemy, or was there a more innocent explanation? She knew she needed to get closer if she was going to find out.
Mia felt a surge of frustration. She wanted to know what was going on, but this spy seemed determined to keep her secrets.
