Chapter 62: Chapter 62

Sitting at the reading desk in the Alpha's library, Mia's heart was pounding as to what was written within that scroll.

Alex slowly uncovered the scroll, keeping a straight face like he wasn't and wouldn't be affected no matter what the information they got from the scroll was.

Mia couldn't help but look at his face, searching for any emotion.

Opening the scroll, the first words were unknown to them as they couldn't understand it, but slowly, the words interpreted itself.

Alex and Mia stared at each other in shock as they read through the ancient texts in scroll found in the Alpha's library.

The truth about the hatred between their packs was finally revealed to them after thousands of years. Both Jayden and Heartman, the previous Alphas, had awakened a demon to get extraordinary powers to defeat the Alpha king.

"Thousands of years ago, the two packs were ruled by the Alpha King, a powerful wolf with unmatched strength and wisdom," Mia read out the words.

"It says here that there are only two ways to become the Alpha: through succession and by defeating the present Alpha king," Alex read aloud.

"They knew they could not defeat the Alpha King on their own, so they decided to awaken a demon that had been sealed away for centuries in order to gain extraordinary powers."

"So, they chose the latter and used the demon's power to overthrow the Alpha king," Mia added as she read through the texts.

"Since both of them were vying for the position of Alpha, instead of relying on their own strength and abilities, they had turned to the forbidden magic of the demon realm. Why didn't they rely on their strength and went as far as awakening a demon?" Mia asked

"Wish I had the answers to your questions," Alex replied

"Their plan worked, and with the demon's help, the demon had granted them immense strength and abilities, and together they had defeated the reigning Alpha king and claimed the title for themselves and become the new Alphas of their respective packs.'"

"Then the demon tried to possess them, but they managed to lock up its powers in these orbs in the portrait," Alex pointed to a portrait hanging on the wall.

But there was one question that remained: What happened to the orbs and the demon's powers? Was the demon still in the orbs? If yes, why didn't they destroy it to end everything.

They had hoped that the demon would remain dormant and the portrait would be lost to time, but it seemed that fate had other plans.

Alex and Mia were stunned by the revelation. The portrait had been hanging in the Alpha's mansion all along, but they had never suspected that it held such a dark secret.

As Alex and Mia finished reading the text, they looked at each other in shock. This was a truth that had been hidden for thousands of years, and it explained so much about the animosity between the two packs.

Alex and Mia couldn't believe what they were reading. The hatred between their packs had been caused by this ancient conspiracy, and the demon's powers had been locked away in the very portrait that hung in both of their parents' houses.

As they continued to read, they found that the demon's powers had grown stronger over time and could only be contained for so long. If the orbs were ever removed from the portrait, the demon could be unleashed and wreak havoc on both packs

Mia walked over to the portrait and examined the orbs closely. "Do you think we can use these orbs to defeat the demon?" She asked.

Alex pondered for a moment before nodding. "It's worth a shot. But first, we need to find a way to release the demon from its confinement."

"Where exactly is the demon confinement?"

"According to this book, it was kept in the orbs, but the orbs are just there and nothing about it. You can't feel anything when you go towards it," Alex explained. "Do you understand what I mean?"

Mia agreed, and they both continued to research, looking for any information that could help them know where exactly the demon confinement was.

As they read through the texts, they discovered a ritual that could release the demon from its confinement.

The demon would possess anything but wouldn't be active because it was confined to something that caged its powers. It needed a human body to be able to function.

However, it required the sacrifice of wolves on the red moon night to give the demon its full power and capacity to rule as he has ever wanted.

The demon had its own agenda. To rule all wolves pack.

Alex and Mia knew they had to act quickly. They resolved to find a way to destroy the orbs and put an end to the demon's hold on their packs once and for all.

But they had never expected to uncover a truth that would shake the very foundations of their beliefs. It was a truth that had been hidden for years, buried deep within the secrets of their pack's past.

But why would their own parents keep such a thing from them?

Alex was getting furious, Heartman never told him of such thing all his life even when he went to ask about what caused the hatred, Heartman never told him what was happening and just kept quiet looking at him.

Alex felt hurt and betrayed, but Mia felt worse. All her life was just built on lies upon lies.

She had always adored  her father, and within her heart, she felt there was more to the kidnap than just deciding the Diamond Shadow pack was behind it. Even with all the clues pointing directly at her father, she still hoped and believed there was more to it than just concluding.

That was the main reason she wanted to hear from the spy–anything at all to help her believe and concentrate.

But first, they had to confront Heartman with the truth. They left the library with heavy hearts, knowing that what they had discovered could change everything.
