Chapter 61: Chapter 61

Alex woke up feeling refreshed and relaxed. Remembering how Mia had helped calm him down, he decided to look for Mia because she wasn't there when he woke up.

Alex walked to her room door and rapped on it with his knuckles. After knocking a couple of times without a response, he opened it and met an empty room. He trudged towards the balcony. She wasn't there. He knocked on the bathroom door, but there wasn't any response.

Concern creased his forehead as he walked out into the pack kitchen, but she still wasn't there. He found some maids making dinner.

"Have you seen my wife?" Alex asked the maids there.

"No, Alpha, the last time I saw her was when she came to drop the tray of leftovers," the maid answered.

"Thank you," Alex replied as he made his way out.

Moving back to the pack dining room, he decided to check the garden–he couldn't find her there still.

Walking back into the pack house, he called the guard that stood close to the entrance to make inquiries about Mia's whereabout.

"Have you seen my wife?" Alex asked.

"No, Alpha. She should be in her room," the guard replied

"No problem. Did you see her anywhere outside since I came back to the pack today?"  Alex asked, but the guard gave a negative response.

"You mean she didn't leave the pack house?"

"Yes, Alpha, I have been standing here but haven't seen her come through this part," the explained.

Alex walked into the house to continue searching for Mia.

Just then, Mia walked down the hallway, coming out from the staircase that led to the dungeons going back to her room.

"Mia, where have you been?" Alex questioned, relief washing over him just from seeing her.

"Oh, you're awake. I'm so sorry that I wasn't by your side. I had to check up on some things. Were  you searching for me?"

"I  have been looking everywhere for you, I asked the maids and guard, but no one knew your whereabout. Where have you been?" Alex asked

"I just went down to the dungeon to see the spy. Caine said she wasn't saying anything. Well, I still couldn't get anything from her. It is just weird that she was protecting whosoever."

"You went to see her alone, and the guards allowed you? What if something happened to you? Aren't they thinking about your safety?" Alex asked, fuming with anger.

"I'm fine, Alex. As you can see, I'm in one healthy piece. I'm alright not hurt or anything. We just talked not fight and I'm not that frigile that I can not protect myself," Mia protested. "You were looking for me. Is there something you want to tell me?" Mia asked, diverting the topic

"Oh, nothing. I just wanted to discuss something with you." Alex shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I'm all ears. Why don't we walk to your room and talk about it if it's confidential?" Mia suggested.

Walking into Alex's room, Mia took her seat on the sofa in his sofa while Alex sat close to her, leaving a reasonable space between them.

"We can talk about what you wanted to discuss with me now," Mia said

"Mia, I do not know if you'll be ok with it," He started. "I do not mean to trouble you with the problems of the pack. But I will be needing an extra hand to look for the main reason behind this hatred between both packs, since my father is unwilling to say anything about it, I want to go in search of the truth myself but I only trust you enough to search through the Alpha's library for any information with me."

Taking in a deep breath, Alex continued speaking while Mia was focused and concentrated, furrowing her forehead.

"Please, Mia, will you be ok going into the Alpha's library with me to search for anything that's connected to the pack's hatred?" Alex inquired softly.

Holding her gaze with a gleam of hope in his, Alex waited patiently for Mia's answer.

Pleased and honoured by the invitation, Mia couldn't help but let out a silent scream.

"What do you mean trouble me with the pack's problems? The moment we got married, we became one, Alex." Mia blinked, smiling softly. "I am pleased you trust and choose me to go into the Alpha's library with you, I'll gladly go with you, Alex,"

Standing up and giving a little dance, Mia couldn't contend her joy.

Alex stood up and gave her a heartwarming hug.

"Thank you, Mia. I appreciate that you're happy to do it with me,"

"When will we go into the library? Now? We're not busy now we can go in immediately. " Mia couldn't wait to go into the search already.

Alex smiled and replied her softly

"We'll start tomorrow morning. Is that okay by you?" Alex asked.

"Yes, yes, I'm okay with the time."

Mia walked out of the room hastily smiling ear to ear.

Alex couldn't take his eyes off her as she went out of his room. What a cheerful and lively person.

Giving a low laugh, Alex moved towards the desk in his room, there were some paperwork that needed to be attended to.

The next day, Alex and Mia were determined to find answers. They made their way to the Alpha's library–a vast room filled with countless books and scrolls. It was a place that held many secrets, and they were hoping to uncover some of them.

They started by looking through old records and archives, trying to find any mention of the Diamond Shadow Pack and the cause of the long-standing hatred between the two packs. Surrounded by shelves of books and scrolls, they were confused and didn't know where to look exactly.

They spent hours digging through the archives.

As they poured over old documents.

And then, they found it. A hidden chamber tucked away behind a false wall, filled with even more records and ancient artefacts.

As they searched through the chamber, It was slow going at first, but after several hours, they stumbled upon something, their eyes fell upon a scroll that caught their attention.

Alex and Mia exchanged a look, both sensing that they were onto something big.

Alex and Mia sat in the Alpha's library ready for anything within the scroll.
