Chapter 56: Chapter 56
Alex furrowed his forehead in frustration, standing there on the clearing, not knowing where to search or how to locate where the big rough looking kidnapper had dragged his mum to.
Alex gritted his teeth, balling his palms into fists. There was no way there wasn't a clue of who they were and where they went.
Alex searched the environment, his warriors seeing this didn't understand what he was doing. The warrior leader gave the group a sign to back off, which they did, giving him the space he needed to complete his search.
None of them had the guts to go close. They were afraid he would vent out his anger since they had arrived at the clearing too late.
They couldn't keep up with his pace , if they had arrived earlier, then the kidnappers won't be holding their previous Luna hostage.
After searching furiously for something, Alex stumbled upon a customized blade that had the mark of a werewolf pack emblem engraved on it.
Confused, he tried to remember where he had encountered the blade before, but he couldn't, so he called the attention of the warrior's leader.
He immediately brought the blade to Caine, the leader of the warriors. He was a wise and experienced leader, and Alex trusted him implicitly.
Together, they examined the blade, noting the intricate designs and expert craftsmanship that had gone into its creation.
"Have you ever come across a blade like this all your years of being a warrior?"
Caine eyed the blade, running his fingers around the blade and checking the handle that held the blade in place.
"This is no ordinary blade," Cainw said, his voice low and serious. He recognized the emblem immediately. "It bears the mark of the Diamond Shadow pack. It doesn't just bear the mark of the Diamond Shadow pac. Anyone who is in possession of a blade like this is on a special mission given by their Alpha. And it serves as the mantle of authority passed from the Alpha to the warriors who possessed this," Caine explained, still scrutinising the blade.
"With this blad, the person in possession can have direct access to the Alpha. Not even the head of the warriors can match the person's authority. He's the Alpha's direct messenger. And whatever he tells them is final except the Alpha says otherwise"
"Only members of the Diamond Shadow pack carried such weapons in the history of all clans of werewolf," Caine added, handing the blade back to Alex.
Alex's heart sank at the information. He knew that the Diamond Shadow pack was not to be trifled with. They were known for their ruthlessness and their willingness to do whatever it took to get what they wanted.
But the Crystal Moon pack had always gone head on head with them because they, like the Diamond Shadow pack, were strong and had the best of warriors and war tactics.
"We have to find out more," Alex said with determination in his voice.
"We have to find out if they left any other clue behind."
Caine nodded in agreement. "Agreed. We'll start searching immediately. But we have to be careful. The Diamond Shadow pack is not to be taken lightly."
"Neither should the Crystal Moon pack should be taken lightly," Alex replied.
Caine parted his lips to speak, but Alex shut him up by saying, "Get the warriors, tell them to search everything in this place, anything they can find that can connect us to the kidnappers."
Caine passed the message to the warriors, and in no time, everyone was up and doing, searching everything in the bushes, anything that could be seen around the clearing.
They had spent countless hours combing through the clearing and bushes with the hopes of finding something, but all their effortsvwere in vain–they got nothing.
Alex's anger began to rise. There was no way the kidnappers wouldn't have left anything that could make them to be considered as a member of a werewolf clan. Apart from the blade, it wasn't possible.
He started searching his mind for ideas of any kind that could be used to get more information.
'These people just can't be rogues they never demanded ransoms in exchange for the safe return of my parents.' Alex thought, thumbing his chin.
The blade wasn't in their possession by mistake, so there must be something somewhere maybe they weren't searching well enough.
Alex urged the warriors to search thoroughly.
Just then, one of the warriors called out to Caine.
"I have found something!" He hollered a few meters from the rest, and all heads snapped to his direction.
Walking swiftly towards him, Alex and Caine got to him at the same time.
The warrior pointed to one of the kidnappers lying dead on the ground.
Caine walled the closet to the body and crouched to inspect it. His eyes widened when he caught sight of a particular symbol–the mark was that od every special warrior in the Diamond Shadow pack. It was a faint werewolf eye with diamond for its iris.
"What is it?" Alex inquired
"It's a symbol. It's given to every special warrior of the Diamond Shadow pack alongside the pack symbol. It's here on his back," Caine explained.
"Search every one of them and see if they all have this same symbol we're talking about, now," Alex ordered.
"It's here, Alpha," one of the warriors said, turning over the dead kidnapper
Every other warrior came back with the same report. The kidnappers had the same symbol, crested on their backs.
With that information in hand, Alex knew he was getting closer to finding what happened and why the Diamond Shadow pack would kidnap his parents.
But he also knew that the Diamond Shadow pack wouldn't be easy to crack if they were actually responsible for the kidnapping.
The Diamond Shadow pack wouldn't let their members and special warriors be taken down. They would never submit to defeat and might never accept that they had a hand in it. One thing Alex knew was that he wouldn't take it lightly with them.
